Seems like CE, Carlyle and Malone....One open scholly. Easily go 9 deep for the rotation with 10 times the total talent as last season. Problem is our chef can't cook all that well no matter the ingredients.

These are the posts I love because #1:  I don't know the answer and #2:  it allows me to try to geek the math and see if there is an answer.
Haven't put the numbers in (about to do so), but my gut says that the past season there was very little difference.  I also think if the difference was minor, you still can expect his numbers to improve next season because of the jump from being a freshman to a sophomore.
Now to run the numbers....

So on average, the Big Ten did rank higher in defensive efficiency that the Pac 12 -- but the difference was not that large (average of 69th in the Big Ten, average of 78 in Pac 12).  
Conversely, what might actually be a concern for numbers have a considerable drop should they come to IU would be transfers from the Missouri Valley Conference:

Was interested to see that Indiana State ranked so low.....but having the 13th ranked offense made up for that.

You do realize that over 99% of all division 1 teams lose their last game of the season?
Indiana State didn’t lose because of any ‘analytics’ reason.  They lost because they had 77 points and Seton Hall had 79 at the end of the game.

Everyone does agree of the significance of moving the 3pt line back one foot in 2008 and then ANOTHER 1.5ft in 2019?

Guys with 3 years of eligibility left who shoot well enough for you and have the other skills we’d want to see are lottery picks.
IU definitely needs to shoot better but it also needs much better guard play overall. Lots of the good guards in the portal they’re in on have shooting skill but simply staring at the 3p% column may not show that in a helpful context.
Not every player added this offseason is going to already have everything we’d want on paper.

There are a gazillion examples. Always great to see frosh shooting higher 3-point percentages on equivalent number or more shots, but plenty of shooters improve (as they should) by soph year, it's a huge jump to the college level with experienced college players defending the shot

He took 100 3s in 23 games, playing 25 minutes. 46% of his field goals were 3PA. It’s true that 32% is pedestrian in a vacuum, but please read this, to the point @btownqb and @RaceToTheTop are making:

The short version: frosh who shoot lots of 3s have the trust of their coaches and typically turn into good shooters. Tre Jones’ % increased by 10 points as a sophomore to 36%, and he’s currently shooting 35% from the longer NBA line. (He’s not the only example therein.)

I think there is a massive confusion about how hard this stuff is to do as a FR/what a good shooting % from 3 is, currently. 

Is it?  Sounds like we may be the tallest midget.  

This staff has no sense of direction in constructing a roster. They are just attempting to land the highest ranted recruits regardless of how they fit or what role they play for the team. This team desperately needs perimeter shooting but it doesn't appear we are targeting enough of these players, and I won't be surprised if we are still a poor 3 point shooting team next year. 
The reason why Purdue has been so successful, is that Painter has identified his style and recruits players who will fill certain roles. He targets a 7'0" big man and surrounds them with perimeter shooting. Constructing a roster and building a good team becomes much harder when there is 0 planning. IU shouldn't have this much trouble especially with all the NIL money they have. 

If he's staying out west, UCLA or any of them are pretty awful choices. Arizona and Gonzaga are the kings of the West now. But Woody should go for it. He's got potential and that attention would be huge for the brand of Indiana basketball.
