If we go by what he had said prior -- that if he didn't feel he would be a top 35 pick, he likely would withdraw from the draft -- then I think you should feel that he is coming back.  I don't feel he's in that range and doesn't have the ability to move up in the five on fives.

Anyway, looking at some of the players who got invites to the five-on-five, I wouldn't say it says all that much.  Kofi Cockburn got an invite and he's not in most mocks I've seen.  Trevion Williams is a border end of second round/undrafted player and he got a five-on-five invite.  

The problem was IU shooting a low percentage combined with not shooting many threes.  If you aren't shooting many, the assumption is that they are good looks.  IU shot poorly on good looks.

Absolutely.  I was just responding to the 'probably 100% related to NIL'.  Not a big deal, IMO.  I was fine leaving it with the agree to disagree.  It's not like we are actually having an argument about it, just a difference of opinions (over a player who isn't at IU, so IMO it's really not a big deal).

Maybe but i trust the people where the info came from.  Timeline fits that conjecture.  When the guy that basically run IU’s NIL puts it out there that he doesn’t know why he decided what he did but if he expected IU to play the NIL game with him which is against the rules he was wrong.  Basically NIL is for current scholarship players on the team.  You can’t negotiate an NIL deal with a transfer or incoming recruit.  Teams I’m sure are doing it but it sounds like IU isn’t.   Also on that conjecture timeline before the pack deal he told people he was going to IU.  Draw your own conclusions.  I know what I will believe.  Everyone has an opinion.   You saying dennis chose them for playing time and fit is just as much conjecture as mine is that it was NIL driven.   My last  post on an A&M player 

I'm not sure why Pack's recruitment would have anything to do with Dennis.  Dennis isn't Pack and Pack's deal doesn't change Dennis' value.

IMO, college basketball has moved to the point where a a lot of 3's are playing the 4 spot and some teams just play three guards and no real small forward.  The 'wing' position means different things to different teams.

Then again, the Big Ten just got a little smaller with Cockburn and Trevion Williams moving on.
If Dennis is waiting for TJD to decide and then commit to IU (big IF), then that likely pushes Geronimo to the 4 spot where he is more comfortable.  That isn't a bad thing.  The main thing pushing him to try and learn to play the 3 was finding a way to maximize his minutes on the court.  While Race playing the 5 might not seem ideal when guarding a guy like Zach Edey, I also could see Edey having a lot of trouble playing against an agile 5.
