......Romeo looked at tonto and said, "I said POSSE, tonto!" See how many of y'all are old enough to remember that one. -

Funny thing how he doesn’t even mention the ‘news that was coming out this weekend’. -

RaceToTheTop replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Tonto started out by saying that 'news was going to be released this weekend (past weekend) on Romeo that could be good for Kansas. Never said what it was....then someone else started a rumor about a meeting, tonto seemed to imply there was one, then someone else brought up the fact that the NCAA was in a no-meet time zone, and he changed his tune to 'depends on what you call a meeting'. All from a guy who's been a member on their site for over a year and has posted like 160 times. His narrative has been to provide incredibly vague 'items' and then try to hop on anyone else's items as something connected to what he 'knows'. -

He never used words like 'done deal' with Vandy. And that pick was months before any announcement was going to come. -

Main reason we got Bryant was the hot water Syracuse got in with the NCAA. -

I know....it’s not like I seriously think he could jinx it. If I did think it could be jinxed, I’d be guaranteeing he wouldn’t be coming to IU. It’s all good. -

+1. For Christ’s sake, they can’t even figure out where the team benches are supposed to be. -

While I think Romeo is probably coming, please don't jinx this by talking about what happens 'after he leaves'. -
Juwan Morgan RETURNING For Senior Season
RaceToTheTop replied to Cheaney40's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
But in the case of Troy and JBJ, that writing was already on the wall -- that they were looking to go pro. Both had tested the water the year before. In terms of Juwan getting a summer league spot somewhere, I'd say that was a given. That really doesn't mean much. Hell, Chris Kramer had a summer league spot with the Pacers when he graduated. -

And they won their first 26 games of the season and were ranked #1. I'm not sure that 'bad coaching' results in that kind of year, regardless of the players on the team. -
Juwan Morgan RETURNING For Senior Season

So let’s say those guys have him on their radar as being, say, the 80th best player. You certainly aren’t going to use a top 50 pick on him and even if you choose to use a very late second round pick, the proper end game isn’t to draft a guy 80th on your board.....it’s to draft a guy you like that someone else draft after you. Morgan isn’t going to be drafted, so at best he could be getting told that “hey, we might be interested in your game enough to bring you in as an undrafted free agent.” i just am not seeing the narrative where he is being told he could get drafted, which IMO would be the minimum necessary to convince someone who wasn’t planning on even going through the process doing so. when Williams and Blackmon left, neither were considered draft worthy — but it was pretty much already a conclusion that each was leaving after their junior year regardless. -
Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers

Further proof: IU athletic website refers to him being ranked at #71 by one of the services. He absolutely was a top 100 player for 2018. http://iuhoosiers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=9472 -

Exactly. Here is an article that refers to him when he signed. Notice it refers to him being a 4 star 2018 recruit at 247, checking the rankings now, the third ranked player in Minnesota is rated 48th nationally. https://www.btpowerhouse.com/2017/7/16/15979392/2018-basketball-recruiting-four-star-power-forward-race-thompson-commits-to-indiana-hoosiers You can't find his national ranking now since he reclassified, but I clearly remember him being ranked in the 80s at 247. -

So, who is the better combination singer/basketball player? Prince or VO? -
Victor Oladipo - Memphis Grizzlies

Have to think he's headed for All-NBA second team, Most Improved, and All-defensive first team. And he and Sabonis have now been tied to two huge lopsided trades....first the Thunder fleeced the Magic, flipping one year of Serge Ibaka for Oladipo, the 11th pick in 2016 (which was Domantos Sabonis) and Ersan Ilyasova (a 10 and 7 guy in Philly despite only playing 24 mpg) for one year of Serge Ibaka.....and then the Thunder flipped Sabonis and Oladipo for what will probably be one year of Paul George. -

And if he were going to simply use the draft process to find out what he needed to improve at and had no intention of hiring an agent, he would also be looking to sign a lease. I guess I don't get see why this is significant one way or another. -
Juwan Morgan RETURNING For Senior Season
RaceToTheTop replied to Cheaney40's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
BTW, if he did in fact sign a lease that is more of indication that he intends to come back....not that he intends to leave. When you hear 'he signed a lease', which is the more logical narrative? A. He intends to play at IU next year but wants to know what he needs to work on and puts his name in the draft or B. He wasn't going to put his name in, and despite not being 'in NBA team's top 100', he started hearing from teams that he was a draftable player and could make a roster. I'm going with option A. -
Juwan Morgan RETURNING For Senior Season

The lease 'issue' is just silly. In a college town like Bloomington, all attractive housing opportunities are going to get picked up. And the assumption that signing a lease meant that Morgan wasn't ever going to get his talent evaluated after the season is simply a false narrative. What's more likely is that there was an actual discussion between Morgan and the landlord of his intentions -- that he was going to put his name in the draft to see what he worked on but most likely return to school. A landlord renting to a junior basketball player in the town of Bloomington isn't oblivious. There is no way that this would end up with Morgan signing a lease, turning pro, and then paying a year's rent for an apartment he ends up never living in. -

Glass half full: he's told that and works on hard in the offseason and improves on the shot. One thing that I am a little concerned with is when Davis comes back how he and Morgan co-exist offensively. IMO, we were underwhelming last year when they were on the court at the same time. -

Juwan Morgan RETURNING For Senior Season

For the record, 63 players got invited to the NBA combine last year and there were 5 alternates. But we are to believe that he isn't in the people's top 100 but could possibly get an combine invite based on his play in the next......zero games? -

So, Juwan 'isnt in the top 100 by NBA' scouts....Dan Dakich talks out of @$$, but not this time!....no mocks have him in the draft because, well, there aren't many 6'7" power forwards in the NBA..... Believe me, with every inside information that gets out on the internet today, something as innocuous as 'some NBA draft scouts think Juwan Morgan might get a combine invite' seems like something that people wouldn't exactly trying to keep a secret. I'mma calling BS.
