IU vs. Purdue Postgame Thread
southernindianahoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Tom Crean's Legacy can be summed up in one phrase: "if we just had..." If we just had shooters last year. If we just had a center this year. If Vonleh wouldn't have left. If Fisher wouldn't have transferred. I can't handle one more excuse. -

IU vs. Purdue Postgame Thread
southernindianahoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There is nothing that would indicate the fanbase, after screaming for Stevens to coach at IU, would turn on him if he was swept by Purdue... With his body of work, I have plenty of confidence he could figure it out. If it's Stevens YR 7 and he's getting paid 3+ million and THIS is the product he is putting on the floor, then yes, the blind zealots would sour. -
The fans aren't going to the games?

I wasn't around when Davis was here. What were some tell-tale signs that he wasn't the right guy for the job? Students not going to the game? -
The fans aren't going to the games?
southernindianahoosier replied to ALASKA HOOSIER's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We need more fans on the same page about the state of the program, and we need confidence. If we get that back, the attendance issues should disappear. Crean doesn't needs to turn his haters into believers. He just needs to gain the respect of the haters. Some will dislike him, but if they respect him, they will show up to the games. -

From an outside perspective looking in... One would say WTF is wrong with Indiana? The fans aren't going to the games.. The program is a mess again. In reality it's not as bad as it the media will portray it. But still does not look good on a wide-scale. -

Has he consistently moved up on draft express throughout the year? Where was he before the season? I could see him get in the top 30 -

I've heard that Perea wants to leave to go back to Colombia after this year because him and coach Crean don't really get along. I've also heard that Yogi will go pro after this year. I'm expecting a nice couple games in this tourney and I think it bumps Troy, or JBJ up just enough to leave for the NBA. -
Again, hope RMK sees this and gets his butt to b town.

I recently saw this tweet by Albers @Justin_Albers: IU-Louisville series would be great for everyone involved. Kentucky doesn’t want to play on campuses? Oh well, their loss. #iubb Can someone explain to me how UK has lost anything by not playing IU? It doesn't seem to have hurt them one bit this year. The biggest loser of the IU/UK series is IU. We lose: -Our marquee non-conference matchup. -fanbase morale. (no-rivalry game to look forward to) -lost experience in not playing the #1 team in the nation. -lost experience playing a tough team on neutral court. (Which is helpful in March) -lost opportunity for older BBN and IUBB fans to travel and cheer on a rivalry game. -recruits and young players experience with a top college rivalry. -we replaced a UK game with cupcake. Yes, I would like to play them at assembly... However, if the option is "play UK at a neutral site" or "no UK game" why would you agree to "no UK game"? How about we play them in Florida so that I have an excuse to go to Florida now!

IU vs. UK

In 2012 He missed on G. Harris, Glenn Robinson, Mitch McGary, Kellen Dunham, AJ Hammons... All Indiana guys that I would rather have had than Hollowell, Perea, Jerkin, Patterson. I'm not arguing that on paper in 2012 we looked fine. I'm pointing out that we had in-state talent we missed on. -

So am I reading into this correctly... Glass is responsible for the crossroads classic? And the Crean extension? Hard to like this guy. -

Who's decision was/is the crossroads classic, and when is our contract up? I don't understand why we cannot play both Notre Dame and Butler in our non-con. I'd love to see IU play a road non-con at Hinkle! -

But with IU v. Syracuse, he was blown out by them twice in the same year. The excuses some people make for that game: "it was a matchup nightmare, hulls was hurt, and on and on"... Give it up. It was 90% Crean's fault. -

southernindianahoosier replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So if the fanbase was represented by a pie chart with 3 sections: They want Crean to coach IU, They want Crean gone, and Don't care. What percentages would the pie chart have? -
Indiana won't be Indiana until it wants to be Indiana
southernindianahoosier replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly. Another example of how he didn't prepare is that Crean should have known the extent of Jordan Hulls injury and realized he couldn't dribble with his right hand and needed to sit. We had Remy who played point guard on the sweet 16 team a year before, and yet, we play the one who only has the use of 1 arm. Also, why was hanner playing in that game? Crean has far to many WTF is he thinking moments. Edit: I loved hulls and am not saying he shouldn't have played or denied the opportunity to play in that game. -

Agree. In my opinion I felt like Jordan Hulls was the true coach/leader/alpha on that 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 team and Tom was riding passenger. I'd love to see hulls come back as an assistant in the future! -

southernindianahoosier replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Did I read this correctly? You'd take an outright title and sweet 16's over a national championship game? Are you from Indiana? Were you alive when that run happened? The excitement and spirit of that is not comparable to 2 sweet 16's.. The only comparable thing Tom Crean has done close to that is beat #1 Kentcky at home, and for that I thank him. -

I'm completely offended by you saying "and Knight" referencing that it's not hard to achieve more than him. By age 43 Knight had 2 national Championships, an NIT championship, a Pan Am gold medal and a Olympic Gold Medal. What is wrong with you? At age 48 Tom Crean has 1 final 4....?
