Big 12 is moving forward with a season. This is going to kill the Big 10 in recruiting if they pull it off.

He loves poking at football for whatever reason, which is annoying in itself, but he’s missing the part where the cash cow props up entire athletic departments and towns (!!!) all across the country. He’s ok with CTEBall being canceled even though billions of dollars in local economies will be lost, people will lose their jobs and businesses, and college sports in general will suffer for years.
Football isn’t just any other sport whether he likes watching it or not. It’s an absolutely ridiculous and ignorant take.

Agree with Saban here.  This is getting out of hand at some levels.

People need to learn to live with this.  If you are worried for your health, don’t participate in sports and life.  Let the others live their lives educated of the risks.

I had an “eloquent” post about our litigious society recently that explains why we can’t do anything anymore.  But it’s since been deleted.

I think anyone who believes they're thinking about canceling because of player safety is fooling themselves. I mean, think about the game of football. It's a violent sport that we know causes CTE. Players can become paralyzed or die on the field. Every year they press forward with a new season. But a virus that poses a very small danger to college athletes is enough to cancel the season? I'm not buying it for a second. They're concerned about the potential liability, but they're not concerned about player safety, imo.

Trevor Lawrence could become a multi-millionaire tomorrow if they canceled the season yet he’s one of the most outspoken players in favor of playing. That says a lot. The hashtag #WeWantToPlay on Twitter is full of football players saying they understand the risks and want to play. Football is these players’ lives. Most of them will never play after college. They want to play while they still can. And it’s not like covid disappears if they cancel the season. They’re still at-risk of getting it. Like you said, they’re less safe if they cancel the season. Canceling the season would be a disastrous decision, which is why I fully expect them to make it.

Pete Thamel just tweeted that a Big Ten spokesman confirmed that "No vote has been held by our presidents or chancellors".

So....maybe they leaked that news, saw the backlash and said nopppee haha. Or they thought other leagues would immediately follow suit, and are holding off until they do.

Oh just commenting to you like you do everyone else, like the expert in the room. I can admit that there have been positive test from football players. That has been reported.  I disagree with you that football players are somehow going to spread it because they play football. I think they are less likely, and if they do contract it, it will be quickly dealt with. I cannot say the same for the student body in general.

So we'll bring thousands of students from all over the U.S. back to campus and house them in dorms and off-campus apartments but we won't allow a small percentage of the total enrollment to play football.  So much that doesn't make any sense to  this Old Fart.

The cancellation of football for player safety is a farce. The players want to play, and if someone is to use a little critical thinking they would understand the players ARE ACTUALLY SAFER if they do play than if they do not.
Even Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the players understand this. Again its more about the adults than the players as usual.

I detailed my argument precisely, do you want to counter that with logic?  You post articles as your retorts but they don’t encompass the full scope of the situation and all the factors at play.   That’s why at some point, you need to use “Critical Thinking” to piece together all the information.  Cause and effect and motive.

My behavior is crappy?  I am an upstanding citizen that lives a Christian lifestyle, treating others like I’d want to be treated.

I’ll admit, I am intelligent.  All my life. Valedictorian, full ride scholarship, etc, etc.  I am also wrong in some circumstances. But I seek the truth.  Love to learn.  I am a bit of a know it all.  Admittedly. I am not ashamed of that.

Where and when have I behaved like a toddler?
