That’s something folks are ignoring. He had zero pressure at FAU. He could take 5 years to slowly build because he had no pressure. How will he do at a school where the heat is on from day 1?

With the exception of auburn, Pearl has succeeded immediately at his other three jobs. USI - 22-7, 14-4 in conference Milwaukee - 16.13, but 11-5 in conference Tennessee - 22-8, 12-4 in conference, round of 32 With the transfer portal, NIL, and the Big Ten being pretty crappy overall , I think we could reasonably expect a season like his first season at Tennessee. And then in year twos he really takes off.

May would be better than bringing Woodson back, but I think it’s far more likely that we’d all be posting in a “Fire Dusty May” thread 3 years from now than it is that we’d be back where we want the IU program to be. Bruce Pearl would win immediately. This program needs someone who can win instantly. I have no interest in another rebuild.
-
Not getting Bruce Pearl because he doesn’t want to come here is one thing. Not getting Bruce Pearl because the IU administration doesn’t support it? That would be entirely unacceptable.
-
Scott (with an s) would be a lot cooler if he is putting the heat on QB. Someone needs to. He’s holding the program hostage for his buddy’s personal gain.
-
Buckner vetoing a Bruce Pearl hire would legitimately kill my interest in the program. Would take a lot for me to get over that.
-
*insert I’ll never root for IU to lose comments* If someone’s still rooting for IU to win at this point in the season, they’re rooting against IU’s best interests.
-
Woodson couldn’t fill a couple of holes during last portal season to field a decent team. Idk how anyone in their right mind thinks he’ll be able to successfully put together an entirely new team this portal season.
-
Buckner has to know that Woodson stinks at the job. I think he simply doesn’t care. He cares more about keeping his guy as the coach than he does the good of the program. He otherwise wouldn’t have hired him in the first place. Just because a guy played at IU 40+ years ago doesn’t mean that iubb success is his #1 motive.
-
Woodson and Buckner are two of my least favorite Hoosiers of all time. Can’t stand either of them.
-
Oh you mean the poster who posted exclusively about Luke Brown for years but swore he was just an unaffiliated fan? Nah, totally not him.
-
So did Momma ‘straight to the bank’ Williams
-
Bronny is a freshman who nearly died 7 months ago. He’ll be fine. Lebron discourse always scrapes the bottom of the internet barrel.
-
Woodson’s first season was pretty lousy until IU won a couple games in the BTT to sneak into the play-in round. IU lost 7 of its last 9 regular season games that year. Pearl would very likely inject a lot more excitement than Woodson did.
-
If IU brings Woodson back it will be a crystal clear sign from the IU administration that they are not serious about basketball. If that happens, there’s little reason to remain invested in the program. Plenty of other things to spend time doing. Can’t care more than the people in charge.

The longer this goes on, the more my wishlist becomes “anyone but Mike Woodson.”
-
So brilliant decision by Woodson to put all his eggs in that basket then, yeah?
-
Has he though?
-
Why are you the way that you are?
-
Lmao we’ve reached the “if you don’t run for the Board of Trustees you can’t complain about the coach” stage of your Woodson defense.
-
This season is over. Every win here on out increases the chances of Mike Woodson coming back and next season being over before it even begins. I’ll want that.

I remember reading that Fitz had a great interview for the position but Whitten told Dolson no. A little reading between the lines on my end I suppose, but that to me sounds like he went to get a Fitz hire approved but was rejected. I have zero issues with the Cog hire and am really excited for the season, but that to me was an indicator of Whitten’s approach to athletics (I.e., firmly within the lines).
-
Whiten vetoed Dolson’s first choice for the football job. It’s good that she doesn’t hate sports like the last President, but I wouldn’t count on her being anything more than a neutral factor when it comes to sports.
-
anyone thinking IU moves on from Woodson this offseason has WAY too much faith in the IU administration. Losing out was the only way he was getting fired.

Then Quinn steps in to gently remind Scott that he serves as AD at the pleasure of the BOT and should tread carefully.
