Game thread : IU vs Iowa - 12/4

Todd Leary on playing in Big Ten in early 1990s: "It was much more difficult to go on the road and go play teams. Everyone was much more leveled out." Said it seemed like conference was decided in final two weeks of regular season. Eric Anderson on playing on the 1992 Indiana team: "It was a lot of fun. We had a lot of competition in practice which always made us better." Todd Lindeman on the Final Four run: "I think this team was prepared from Day 1. That was part of Coach (Knight)'s mentality. Alan Henderson on the Big Ten in the early 90s: “The league was just deep. That was what made it fun.” Bob Hammel on Indiana's teams from 1991-93: "This group, that era, is the best team that doesn't have a banner." Calbert Cheaney: "The thing for me, with all the great players up here, there were no egos ... We were there for one purpose, and that was to win championships." Alan Henderson: "To follow up ... I don't recall anybody complaining about not getting shots ... all we wanted to do was win, and I think that's when you have the best success."

In the category of "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain", there are reports that security personnel are telling people the game has been delayed until 9:00 - NOT TRUE - still set for 8:00 tipoff.

Funny = clown? I see the point you're making and clown probably wasn't my best choice of words and FWIW, we definitely agree on how he's handled the shoplifting and his reaction of pulling LiAngelo out of UCLA.

Don't like it; don't read it. IMO LaVar is a clown and is not a particularly good father figure. It's the public perception he's created with his words and actions. And I have absolutely no idea what you mean with the 'loud' reference. If it's some kind of modern street lingo, it's gone completely over my head.

    2020 General Recruiting Thread

Tre Coleman, the 2020 small forward from Jeffersonville (IN) High School, spoke with D1VisionMonday about his recruitment. Coleman, who has an offer from New Orleans, has also received interest from schools such as Xavier, Indiana, Purdue, and Dayton, with Nebraska coming in to see him practice last Friday (Dec. 1). “The Dayton coach [Anthony Grant] is setting up a visit for me to go there, but I don’t know when,” said Coleman. “Indiana wanted me to come to a basketball game. I’m not sure yet, but I’ll probably go to the Ohio State vs. Indiana game.” Indiana will play Ohio State at home on February 23. Although Coleman may only be a sophomore, and coaches aren’t able to directly reach out to him yet, he has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a school, as he said, “I’m usually just looking for what fits me best, where I can go and play right away.” Playing at Jeffersonville, Coleman has led the Red Devils to a 2-0 record as they prepare to play a game at Seymour (IN) High School on Saturday. “As a team, we want to win a state championship, of course,” said Coleman. “But right now, I just want to get past that sectional and win regionals.” Jeffersonville’s early success is in large part due to Coleman’s improvement over the fall and summer. “Over the fall, I improved my jump shot a lot and that showed last game,” he said. “Right now I’m just working on my ball handling. Ball handling and shooting.” Coleman’s early success this season should lead to some more offers moving forward but there are two schools in particular that he is hoping to receive an offer from. “I would hope to receive an offer from Duke and UCLA. It would be a lifelong accomplishment for me,” said Coleman before breaking down what he likes about each school. UCLA: “The location and the way they play. I watch them all the time.” Duke: “Of course Marvin Bagley III goes there and he’s obviously going to the league, so that’s a bonus. I also like how Coach [Mike Krzyzewski] sends people to the league easily.” In his high school season opener, Coleman scored 14 in a 72-56 win over Southport. In its second game, Jeffersonville defeated FW Wayne 75-58. Kid from FWW hit 6-3's in the first quarter; J'ville coach put Coleman on him and Coleman shut him down the rest of the game. Coleman scored 18 on 6-15 from the field and 3-4 FT's.

    Curtis Jones

For the record, last season in 33 games Jones averaged 11.2 min/game. He shot 35% from the field and the same % on his 3's, averaging 3.5 ppg. He had 31 assists to 24 TO's and 14 steals. This season through 7 games, he averaged 11.4 min/game. He was shooting 27% from the field and only 22% on his 3's, averaging 3.0 ppg. He had 3 assists to 2 TO's and 3 steals. We sorely needed better production from him and it's simply not there. No hard feelings; wish him the best and hope he finds the right school. When we were recruiting him, Georgetown, Oklahoma State and California were the other schools he was considering.

CuJo's game and Archie's game just aren't the same. Best for both sides and if he's careful in selecting his next stop, I think CuJo will probably have a solid college experience.

This isn't an excuse for our TO problem, but I believe I read that Auburn's opponents average 25 TO's/game so I suppose we shouldn't be terribly surprised that we're having problems.

Did you know this about your namesake? Kyle Hornsby played for a national championship with @IndianaMBB in 2002. Now, he's a top-notch cardiologist at @IUHealthBloom. "I keep hearing that people are excited I’m back, and to be honest, I am just as excited, if not more excited, to be back."

Based on all of the comments Moore made during the period between his decommitment and then re-upping, if he was going to be redshirted by Archie he was gone. High school ego much much bigger than reality.

Alex, what is 95? And with that I win a daily double. We are currently 47-142 for 33.1%. Our opponents are 74-182 for 40.7%. So if my basic math is correct, that's an 81 point differential through 8 games. We've actually hit 14 more total FG's that our opponents but that 3-point shooting -- ugh!
