Don't read too much into it. He's likely just a training camp leg.

Cal is probably saying "if he'd came here I could've made it all go away".

My thoughts on this are similar to most of you. As long as it's for 1 year, I'm all for it. No he isn't a very talented player, pretty similar to AE. But I would rather use the scholly than to not use it at all, and as others have pointed out he could be a great practice player, he has plenty of college experience, and is a very smart kid off the court. Would represent IU well, and would be a good teacher for the young players. Yes it's a bit of a shame that's it's gotten to this point where we are settling for less than average MVC players to fill out our roster, but that doesn't mean just lie down and give up. Take what you can get for a year and I see it as a no-lose situation. Tell me how it can possibly hurt us?

Great day for IU FB, we get a 3 star LB and another QB that helps with our depth issues at the position. I've never been this excited about IU football before, this is awesome.

Kelley nailed it, Burton and Ritchie obviously being walk-ons, which currently leaves us with 11 scholarship players, and Hartman could miss several months, if not the entire season. So we only have 10 scholly players available, and 5 of them are freshman.

    1) Hanner has to become the shot blocker and rim rocker we thought he would become

    2) Yogi has to make the transition from the primary scorer to an assist focused PG. With the number of scoring threats we will have next year, our offense will rely on Yogi's vision, passing and ball security.

    3) Troy needs to be excellent at slashing and cutting to the basket from the wing. He has the athleticism to dominate in that role.

    4) Stan and Devin have to be bulldogs defensively. These guys need to help create a lot of turnovers for us.

Yea, its not a crime, but it also isn't going to hurt to add him. He can teach kids work ethic, he can teach young players about getting in a proper mindset for a big in conference game... not just through words, but through action. Different perspective than a coach, which may hit home more with the players. I'll give you he wasn't very good at Illinois State, sure, but it is no small feat playing at a D1 level. At the least, he offers better competition in practice than just adding a random walk on.
From all accounts he seems like he would be a good representative of Indiana University. Wouldn't hurt to have a successful business man and general good person be a supporter of the program and school.

April is a true big man, and Priller also has good size (I believe he's 6'9). I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt Jurkin ever sees the court this year, except for maybe a few garbage minutes at the end of a blowout.

UCONN just proved that you don't necessarily need offense from your bigs to succeed in the NCAA. What their bigs DID give them, however, was good defense and good rebounding. If Perea, April, and Davis can give us those 2 things, I'm confident that our guards and wings can score enough to get us the W.

If you scan the IUBB forum on here, you'll see lots of threads that have discussed this, but the conclusion seemed to be that we need a rim protector, but a true center doesn't function well in Crean's transition offense. Players like Zeller who can run and defend in the post are ideal. Davis seems to be someone who could step up and provide the hustle and bulldog mentality in some kind of post role.

For now I would have to agree. Would be nice for Perea to prove us wrong though.
