I think its a great idea. What we've been doing for 20 years hasn't worked. We can't out recruit our conference foes. Plenty of talent sitting the bench in the SEC for instance that is better than what we can recruit. Offer playing time within a high octane offense. We probably need the most help (speed) on the defense though.

While we are not a "destination", we have several transfers sitting out the year, including one who appears like he'll be a good instant addition in the secondary. Picking through the transfers every year could help.

We're never going to out-recruit most of the teams in this division. It didn't pan out with Jeremy Finch, but there are dozens of guys every year from Power 5 schools looking for a new start because of a lack of playing time. Obviously I'm not saying we become Ole Miss and take kids who get kicked out of everywhere else, but we can get the occasional four and maybe even five star recruit to come here ala Georgia State basketball. Plus, guys who have spent a year or two in more competent coaching systems can bring that knowledge to our locker room. I honestly believe this team is an average defense away from a fringe Top 25 team more years than not. This is the best and possibly only way to get there.

I have to say in all my decades of watching IU football, I have never been as totally exhausted as I am with this one. Close, close, close, just don't get that big win.

Arizona State lost last night to Sacramento State.
 
Have to think this can't help with Thon.  If you can't back up aggressive recruiting with wins on the court, then it all seems like empty promises and blowing smoke.
 
Combine this with NC State losing last night, and IU could be looking a lot better to Thon and Rawle before too long.

Hopefully Thon (and Ed Smith) was watching the ASU game last night. They lost to the almighty Sacramento State....at home....in front of 5,000 fans....

If we had a competent secondary we'd be a top 25 team. Most of the TDs were uncontested gimmies. Not sure why we do not learn from that pattern all year and make necessary adjustments.

These losses would be much easier to swallow if the same results didn't happen after playing Rutgers

I don't have a problem with the call to pass, but should have rolled Sudfeld out to have a throw/run option.

The team is good enough to be a bowl team--hope they win the last 2 and get the chance. 

Bring wilson back. I like the grit. Heck of a fight. I am not mad at all. Yes two big play killed us but we have the youngest def in the whole land.
