Survivorship bias is a type of sample selection bias that occurs when an individual mistakes a visible successful subgroup as the entire group. In other words, survivorship bias occurs when an individual only considers the surviving observation without considering those data points that didn't “survive” in the event.

Haven't seen anything yet to indicate we've definitely reached out to Essegian but assuming we made a run at him, I can't get particularly excited with Essegian, Leland Walker, Trey, Leal, Cupps and an unknown Jakai Newton as my backcourt.  IMO there's just not enough overall talent level to be super competitive.

The chances of us getting quality talent from the portal? 99+%
The chances of us winning to a level of fanbase satisfaction with that talent? To be determined.

Skyy Clark and others like him that bounce around from program to program aren't appealing to me.  IMO they have a far higher opinion of their game than what they can actually provide and if they don't get what they want, they move on.  And again IMO that can't be good for the locker room.

Good move for Sparks and glad to see Lewis willing to take him back.

Every fan base when the school they cheer for has a hot young coach with university ties goes anywhere else besides their university is going to be upset and make a big deal about it.   Go back to when IU hired Archie Miller and look at Ohio St message boards.  They couldn’t believe they didn’t move in from Matta to get him same with NC State fans they were furious for the administration to not hire the hottest young coach in the cycle that played at NC State.    Looking back they both lucked out.    When the time comes for IU to search for a new coach I have no doubt there will be a list of solid young coaches that will emerge next year or the year after.   

There’s plenty of ammunition on both sides of the Dusty May argument. Now we get to see it play out in real time. If he does great then sure it’ll stink for us. If he doesn’t then he dodged a bullet. If IU keeps sucking it won’t be because we didn’t hire Dusty May. 

If he wasn’t a manager at IU the upset fans 100% wouldn’t be acting like this right now. Folks are acting like we just lost god incarnate. 

It all goes back to if he didn’t have IU ties nobody here would be excited about him either.

I've no doubt Dusty's agent played them against each other and kudos to him for doing so.  Based on what I've read since earlier this afternoon, I believe Louisville truly thought they had a done deal with Dusty.  Bad poker players down in Hookerville.

Hasn't even been 2 hours since the news broke and already,  Dusty is a changed man.

He was the first person I thought of lol! I bet half his tweets the past couple weeks have included the word "mid" referring to Dusty and FAU.

I don’t think your memory is very good on that.
EDIT:  double checked it and you are definitely not correct.  That lineup never appeared on the court together Lander’s sophomore year and only appeared on the court together for 6 minutes during Lander’s freshman year.
