1 thing I just realized we’ve never talked about around here: You won’t see videos of Tucker playing travel ball because he never played travel ball. He did a couple of top 100-type camps and played some international team ball, but otherwise his summers were all skill development work and school. He was so far ahead academically that last spring he was considered an almost certain reclass. At 1 point he was pretty much universally penciled into Mich St’s ‘23 class. Make no mistake, he’s kind of a different kid. 

Yup, and people tend to lose sight of the fact that labels are meaningless. 1-5 was literally created to simplify diagraming and teaching sets. It’s not about labels, it’s about scheme. Anybody think Reneau would have a problem playing the role labeled as a 5 in Oats’ or Moser’s systems? Of course not. If the staff has shown these guys schematic changes that opens the floor and creates operating space, call them whatever you want and they’ll be fine. Hell, call Reneau a PG if he wants. Introduce your entire lineup as PG’s if they want. It doesn’t matter.

I’ve read a lot of strong opinions that we have to hit multiple home runs with our seven likely open spots.
I know it hasn’t happened yet, but if a five star freshman and the second team all Big Ten point guard are the first two additions? That’s pretty ******* strong.

I had not looked at anything on here since yesterday afternoon and I was surprised to see quite a bit of negative opinion on Tony Perkins as a potential point guard option. He has faults in his game but I'm quite a bit more positive than most, it seems. The comparisons to Xavier Johnson are, in my opinion, way off base.
Perkins averaged 1.5 more free throw attempts per game than XJ, shot 79% compared to 68% from FT, averaged 1.8 more assists per game and fewer turnovers per game, doubled Xavier's steals per game, grades out much higher on defensive metrics than XJ and was nearly double XJ's points per game last season. In addition, Tony Perkins is considered a terrific leader and has no injury history, off-court issues or erratic on-court behavior like whacking another player in the groin. 
The perimeter shooting is a concern, no question. He is not a perfect fit. However, Perkins does offer several positive attributes that would make him an asset for the Hoosiers and an upgrade on the guard play IU had last season. Plus, he's actually in the portal and might be interested in playing at IU...something that can't currently be said about Belmont's Gillespie or Ohio State's Thornton.
Also, Hickman is 98th percentile nationally in catch and shoot three-point opportunities (credit to Tony Adragna for showing that stat). He's an asset for the roster. A starter? Hopefully not. A good piece for the roster and a player that could be valuable in helping IU win games? I believe absolutely yes.

I'll make this the spot where I sit down and enjoy my plate of crow. I preferred Kadin Shedrick to Ware last offseason, and boy was I wrong. Shedrick went on to average 8/3 in 17 mpg for Texas. 
Ware was a ton of fun to watch. As bad as things seemed, it could've been soooo much worse without him (imagine Sparks as the starting 5 all year). That end of season run was on the back of Ware. Really wish we could've given him some guards/shooters and gotten him to the tournament, but I'll always look back fondly of his short stint here in Bloomington.

Indiana has an early focus on point guards this transfer portal season, and UT-Martin's Jordan Sears is one of the main ones.

My guess? We will stay the same, but with better guards.

A team that is athletic and running will never feature Malik Reneau.
And yet next season we again will feature Malik Reneau.

Imagine our defense without Ware last year.

And who , pray tell, is going to guard the five? Certainly not Malik Reneau.

On campus for an official visit according to Rabjohns 

Reported that he is visiting this week. Was destined for the now-folded Ignite.
Would be a very high ceiling, semi-developmental freshman. Borderline 5 star 6'7" wing. Athlete, some guard skills.

He proved an awfully lot of people wrong with his play this year.  Hope he has very long professional career.

The transfer portal era's Noah Vonleh. An unbelievably talented player that put up some really good numbers and performances on a team that made the fanbase want to burn down Assembly Hall.
Grateful I got to watch him here and I think he has a chance to be a really good pro.

Kel'El Ware to the NBA draft. A good kid and a very good player at IU.
