  1. Take the top five coaches that you can come up with then eliminate them. With Glass as AD, there is little chance of a good pick. He is of the belief that we need top ATHLETES, not players that can exhibit some team work, stay out of trouble, etc...,  As we've seen, any decent coach can put together a decent season or two based on athletes, but Until we get back to expecting excellence on AND off the court, things will never return to greatness with any longevity attached to it.

Better to get a transition coach to change the culture first(I.e. Kieth Smart) and rebuild the right way.

  2. IU fans, don't count on a big namer. Mike Lightfoot may be tapped as a short-term transition coach. Mike is the winningest coach in NAIA history who recently announced his retirement from his 31-year coaching position in northern Indiana. Realize, the IU coaching change Is as much about getting back to fundamentals as it is winning.

The walk down the floor clear-out for penetration kick for a three is FUNDAMENTALLY unsound. It lacks in rebounding opportunities, consistent scoring, and is high in turnovers. IU basketball, sad to say, is no longer a premier program as evidenced by poor attendance despite seats sold. For decades,(even the Samson years) the seats were filled with excited fans. That has not been the case over the last couple of years.

  3. I really have to question if they truly think the fan base will get behind a former Knight player. Like i keep saying, none of them are really anywhere close to being home runs. Not to mention we continue to distance ourselves from the Knight era, more and more fans weren't a part of that. Which would mean more and more don't feel the need to go get someone from that era. Just saying, they are taking a huge risk if they go that route, could see it back firing and wouldn't be surprised if it did

Why wouldn't they? Just because they are not viewed as 'hip' or forward thinking enough? Would Cal Cheaney upset you?

  4. So when the younger generation, the students, don't go to games, it means nothing. Nice to know, again highly doubt this is accurate

King, student tickets could be cut in half, and we'd still sell out, even with the current bunch in hopes for having tickets in the future. Student tickets are a privilege, doled out as the AD desires.

  5. I am almost 99% sure that is who 87 is referencing. I think a lot of the younger generation would be pissed if he was hired

Keith is a great person as well as coach, but I didn't say he was the one. Let me just say this, I don't mind being discounted, after all, none of you know me personally. However, I've been fortunate to experience IU basketball in an era and from a perspective that few have had. I am immensely grateful for that, and it is for that reason alone that I care deeply for IU basketball. I'm sorry if I have offended some of you with my posts, I have what we used to call a type "A" personality. I would just suggest that as much as things change, they stay the same and the future will play out in the future. Much of what happens is determined by the Varsity Club members, they are the jokers with the juice, and until they decide, Glass doesn't know which way to turn his head. None the less, I believe that the next Coach will be someone from the past at IU.

  6. They have been around and very vocal. Mike Davis was ripped and it was to this level. It was to a point that Davis was swimming in very toxic water that would have been unbearable if he came back.

Crean can make it to the NCAA, but there is such a bad taste that it would take a lot to turn it around. Winning a couple of games in the NCAA and landing Bryant this weekend might buy him some time. In my opinion, it would be a temporary reprieve.

During the coaching search, people were monitoring flights of the IU plane by the tail number. Based on where the plane went, people were speculating coaches they were interested in hiring.

Tough to do anymore, so many well to do alums fly in from across the country and some former players have in-laws around Bloomington.

  7. Important to remember that Fischer is an IU employee so he is not going say anything that isn't on the script

Ya think? Maybe that is why he has been relegated to berating the officials instead of pointing out IU standing on offense, and the lack of situational awareness by the coaching staff.

  8. Silly Syracuse, we could have told you not to self report.

UNC committed possibly the largest academic fraud in NCAA Div I history and nothing will happen. Why? They are not self reporting.

My daughter had a coach who is a former NCAA compliance attorney. She said that the NCAA has neither the desire nor means to enforce rules across the board. She said that one would not believe what goes unpunished!
