Unlike Rugter-conquering UMass, Western Michigan is a very good MAC team. Good enough that going into the fourth quarter in Ann Arbor, it’s UM 7, WMU 6 with WMU driving in UM territory.

Probably true but I do think optics are part of the situation here, keeping a 5* WR home, and beating out the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas is significant for Indiana.

The bison is a perfect fit as a mascot for a Coach Cig football program. It doesn’t really fit as a basketball mascot, imo, but who cares. It’s sick as a football one. 

Didn’t love the bison before, but now that this video exists and can be posted after every win I’m enthusiastically onboard.

The beginning of it, you can hear the kids calling his name wanting an autograph with the occasional "IU" or "Hoosiers" thrown in.  Can't beat it. He will be revered in NYC for a long time.

Sampson didn't trash the program. IU self-reported what today is a non-issue and then fell on its sword to show the NCAA how contrite it was. IU was desperate to maintain a "squeaky clean" reputation, to the absolute detriment of the basketball program.
My disdain for Woodson is 100% warranted. He was given the job that he didn't deserve. He was entitled, lazy, petty and protected. He (and Buckner) have earned every bit of my disdain, in spades.

The key is that Coach Cig doesn’t wastes people’s time. His coaches actually have time to be with their families or attack people on X lol.  Whatever assistant leaves they’ll be great replacements lined up.

I think so.  Normally you'd need more than two years, but the title cemented the whole improbable turnaround story in the CFB history books for the rest of time.

Or you could be like Steve Pikell at Rutger… “Lose the fanbase yet you’re not done for a very long while.”

They damn sure did at least once. They hired a mediocre NBA coach who deemed himself worthy of the title "King of Indiana" while preferring to smoke cigars, drink wine and play golf over working the recruiting trail. And they continued to prop him up with tons of cash for the transfer portal and NIL payouts, despite the fact that he could not coach his way out of a wet paper bag.
No one else would even look at him... but IU hired him, extended him and gave him unwarranted raises.

Like I said, I don't need anyone's opinion as to what constitutes a good coach.
When your program reaches the level of toxicity that has become IU basketball, it doesn't matter.

In regards to it being slow.  At least now we are waiting for football season to start instead of November 

The only recruit I’d like to sign a big check to is Brewster, because he’s scary scary. Otherwise I’m good with whatever decision they make.

We start building Cig's statue earlier than planned.  He delivered the most improbable story in college sports history -- 98%+ of IU fans will forever be grateful for the 16-0 title in the biggest college sport.  Just my $0.02.
