Just saw the final. It was my lobster bisque that put us over the top.

16 minutes into the game and we wake up. Recipe to win a lot of games.

I was not expecting the BB team to start their Big Ten season by looking as bad as the FB team during theirs.  :(

If we had won last week, I would agree with you.  In a lot of ways this is a must win game for this team.  If tis game is lost, I think you can safely say the season is pretty much over.

As many people know, I’ve always thought that Ramsey was criminally underrated by IU fans. He wasn’t Patrick Mahomes, but he wasn’t Zander Diamont either. You don’t throw for 8,300 yards and 54 touchdowns in the Big 10 if you are. For all the talk about how X quarterback can’t beat the top teams, he went to Northwestern, went 7-2, won the Big 10 West and won a bowl game against an SEC team.
Sometimes a boring, average quarterback is all you need. Iowa’s quarterback is the epitome of average and they destroyed us and will probably win their division. If Tuttle can be as good as Ramsey I see no reason not to turn to him. Penix is awful right now. We probably don’t beat PSU or OSU with him, but let’s be honest we probably aren’t beating those teams this year anyway. We have several games against competitive teams similar to us. Cincinnati was one of them, imo. I want the quarterback who gives us the best chance in those games because those are the teams we need to beat to make a bowl game. A turnover machine like Penix hurts our chances in those games.
Unfortunately, I agree with you that we’re stuck with him barring injury. I don’t see Allen making a change unless he is forced to.

You could feel the energy leave the stadium. It was a surreal feeling. The fans never truly got back into it fully after that. #firsthandknowledge

I believe Allen will ride the Penix train til he gets injured. Just gonna depend if the season is shot by then.

Yes, I do not think I would have believed it if I hadn't seen it happen.  Talk about flipping a switch...

And if we're honest about things....
We haven't had a +0.500 coach since the 40s... Yes we lack talent, and only get a few 4 star guys per year, but before Allen we rarely ever had any 4 star guys lol we've had more bowl appearances with Allen than the previous 5 coaches combined.....  I'm more than content.....
Need to keep recruiting hard, try to get more 4 star kids, try to hit the transfer portal hard, and continue to improve the culture.

Lol reasonable as always. Still got stops to give us a chance to win. Multiple chances at taking a 4th qtr lead blown by the offense. Gave up, what, 14 real points in the 2nd half? The other 14 came from a KO TD and a short field garbage time TD. A lot to bitch about today, but the defense isn’t it unless you just need something to argue about.

This take is utter BS.  Look at the program you are talking about.  In our long and illustrious history we have only had three coaches take us to back to back bowls.  Mallory, Wilson, and now Allen.  Yes the team has not lived up to the hype this year, but so far he has delivered everything we can reasonably expect from a coach.

I've been an IU fan for over 50 years now.  It was only 7 years ago, that I took my Dad to a bowl game, because we were not sure he would live to see IU in another one.

Yep, 21 points is an awful lot to overcome.  IU can obviously play with Cincinnati we just made way to many dumb mistakes.

You are right, of course, it is almost never one players fault.   I also think your last line is the most correct.

Last year was still fun but it’s looking more and more like a fluky season during a weird year.

I've never seen one play ("targeting" call) take the wind out of a team like this one did
