Part of the raise is coming from betting on increased revenue by the Football team this fall. You know the University has to be counting on some momentum from last year, and the fact KNOCK ON WOOD, Covid is down to a level that fans can come back to the stadium. The pent up demand to do things this fall is going to be out of this world.

Well if they start throwing away that kind of money to someone that has never won a championship. I'm out. I know that doesn't mean anything to anyone, but that would be simply foolish. I mean come on. Coach K barely makes that salary. I know salaries are crazy, but considering the two best coaches in the game make 7 and 8 million per year, paying someone with no championship pedigree that much is simply crazy.

What does the administration want?
-
Yeah, at the same time K retires from Duke, and probably some other big name coach, and then IU is the ugly girl looking for a date.
-
Oh you are reading me wrong. Stevens is my first choice, but I hope Mr Dolson will balance money and reality. I don't want him as the highest paid college coach. He isn't worth it. IMO, nor can IU afford it.

I hope you can throw really far! :) :) :)

At this stage in the search. I don't see a difference. :). I do find it very interesting that people who are paid to know things seem to all say the person least likely to be at Indiana next year is currently living in Boston. Yet, that seems to be the one person all of us know nothing fans have our sights set on. I was lucky enough to be a student during IU's sports hey day. (late 80's). BB was in the hunt every year, and football was on the rise with Mallory. Since then there has been an awful lot of futility. I am kind of intrigued with Tom Brew's idea of Keith Smart. Honestly I had not even thought of him, but after reading Brew's article it did remind me that Smart's NBA head coach career has ben mired with bad teams for very short durations. I could see a hire like that catching on. Kind of like what Allen has done with the football program. By all means I would be for hiring Stevens, but not to break the bank. Out of all the names I have seen thrown out, the two I absolutely do not want are Beilein or Pitino. Biggest reason is age, because we will be doing this all over again sooner rather than later, and I especially don't want Pitino, because of the stench he will bring with him.

At this point isn't everything being fueled by fan speculation?
-
The donors have already given the money. No way were they told who the coach is going to be. The money was to get rid of Coach Miller not for hiring the next coach. That being said. I don't want Alford. Yeah, we graduated the same year, and he is an IU legend, but I don't think he is the answer.
-
I want to say yes, but the reality is that means we have SUCKED for a long period of time now. That is the real reason you were in a bad mood. :).
-
Of course he is going to be sad. Archie is the reason he came to IU. In the long run it doesn't matter. If getting rid of Miller is the right move, then the players will come. Next year might be rough, but realistically it isn't going to be any worse than this year.

The news made it across the Atlantic. I had just turned off my computer about 30 minutes before my father called with the news. Now we get to spend the next few weeks talking the who....

I guess I'm taking the blame for this one. This is only the 2nd game I have been able to watch live all year. Maybe I should just hit record and watch it tomorrow., :( -

Hell, I thought the chip on their shoulders would have caused them to roll all over Ole Miss. I am not sure they really have chips on their shoulders. -

I don't think so. A lot of overnights happen between now and when the the pre-season polls come out for next year. I would not surprised to see us out of the top 25. There are just too many years of futility that everyone remembers. I think the vast majority of people that vote for those things will look at 2020 as a complete and utter fluke. I hope I am wrong. -

I don't buy the argument that we shouldn't have played the game. With Indiana's history you can't ignore a bowl invite. NO MATTER how much you think you got shafted. Unfortunately, this game did add some additional cement to the "IU stinks at football" belief. This changed what could have been a great season into just a good season, but it sure left an awful bad taste in our mouths that won't wash out for another 9 months. -

Well the bright point about tonight, is that it is tonight. (at least for me). I can go to bed now, and put this behind me; wake up tomorrow morning, and dream about "Next Year." Have a good night everyone. Since I don't get on the BB side very much. See many of you next fall. -

I would change the first line to say Bad game good season. You can't call the season great when you lay an egg during "arguably" the second biggest game of the year. Especially after you have been shouting for the last month, that you got robbed. -
What Can IUBB do to Revive Your Excitement/Confidence?

God that is a scary thought, because that just means we are never going to be more than mediocre at anything other than maybe soccer. -

He had very little protection. Took a lot of hits, and lost his throwing arm. Ole Miss had one of the worst run defenses in the country; we did not even try and exploit it until the writing was on the wall. The guy has played in what three college games? I think Tuttle played as well as we could have expected. -

This one hurt. I didn't expect a blow out, but I expected us to play like we played all year. This is IU Football, This is why we can't have nice things. -
