    Historic turn around for defense?

From what I saw last year.  There is not a chance in the world that our defense will improve to top 100.  They were not just bad, they were putrid.
  2. It has nothing to do with when he enrolls.  It is all about the HS graduation.  He could graduate this spring, but not have the required classes for college.  If this were the case, he would be eligible for the draft next year.

    (2016) C Thon Maker

His guardian said something last week that he hasn't finished his graduation requirements, yet, and won't until the first semester is finished next fall.  That means he won't be eligible for the 2016 draft.  The NBA rules state you have to be one year removed from HS graduation, or something to that effect.   Since he isn't graduating this spring he will not be eligible for the 2016 draft.

    Memorial Day

Former Army Maj. Matthew Burden, a military blogger who often shares stories of the fallen, shared this: "It is important to remember them, and it is just as important to enjoy yourself this weekend. To spend time with your family and friends," he told BI. "What better assurance to them that they did not die in vain? Enjoying your freedom and understanding it's value is the best way to honor the sacrifices of my friends. That's the way they'd want you to spend Memorial Day. Remembering them, and being a good friend, father, and an American is the best way that I can honor their memory." Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/memorial-day-2014-5#ixzz3b9vaMfzQ

    National Title Odds---IU versus Maryland

I think this is wishful thinking.  With one exception, we are returning the core team from last year.  Those guys showed limited abilities to play defense last year.  May there be a slight improvement?  Sure...  Maybe we go from the mid 200's to the upper 100's.
  6. Darn Seniors.....  I'm an IT guy for a school district, and just as the bases got loaded, a kid comes in with a question, about keeping her files after she graduates; so I missed what happened that allowed IU to pull ahead.  :(   Work should never interfere with listening to the Hoosiers..  :)

    OT: Scoring in college basketball

I don't see how we benefit from this much at all.  I see it as a non factor.  IU couldn't play half court offense last year, and making the shot clock 30 seconds won't change the fact, that if we don't score on a break away,  our offense reverts to doing nothing until there are 5 seconds on the shot clock, a guard driving towards the basket, and either turning it over, or lucking into an open player.   On the defensive side of the ball, we either played defense on a possession or we didn't.  Don't see that changing due to a shot clock change. I realize that sounds bitter and it has a lot of generalizations, but....
  8. turned on BTN this afternoon, and saw IU OSU.  Thought "WOW, is it dark in Bloomington this early."  Then realized they were showing last night's game!

I am probably in the minority, but until it would be determined that he would spend at LEAST one full year at IU; I don't want him.  I wouldn't care if we had 12 available scholarships.  I would not give one to someone that would not be here a full year.
  10. I think the key word in your first sentence is "tests"  They didn't just fail one test, they failed multiple tests.  Of course there would be people calling for Devin to be kicked off the team.  We all look at these things differently. I believe in 2nd chances, I draw the line at 3rd chances.  Devin was given a 2nd chance, he chose to spit on it. These kids are given opportunities that most cannot even begin to visualize.  The players need to be held accountable for their decisions.

Picking IU at the bottom of the B1G is always the safe pick.  Illinois is the one I don't get.  Their defense was worse than ours, they don't return anyone that great on the offense.  Yet, they are two spots above us???  I can't wait for the daysome does not pick us last or next to last in the B1G.

    "Yea But Tevin Coleman"

I think the Falcons got the steal of the draft.
  14. I think this is only the 2nd game I've been able to watch all year. :(  I hope they continue the success of the last two days.
  15. This was certainly not the year, we thought we were going to have.  :(

The way it is working is that he is still on an athletic scholarship, it just won't count towards their scholarship limit. Part of Austin's troubles is that UM still wants him as part of the BB program.  He just won't be playing.

    Interesting Q&A with Coach Wilson

I really like how Coach Wilson has matured as a coach.  I think HE has gotten better every year, even though the team has been kind of stagnant.  If only he had gotten a real defensive coach after year 2 I think we would be in a different place right now.  I want to say we are going to see big things next year, but I am not going to let my optimistm run away with me. I've done that almost every year, for the last 45, and have not had much success to show for it!

Can we all at least agree that...

I guess I have a little problem at this point saying it is do or leave.  So you are saying if we win the B1G both regular season and the tournament.  Get a one seed for the NCAA, then get beat by a last second shot in the Sweet 16 then Crean is gone.  Or if we barely scrape into the NCAA tournament, the team catches fire and wins until the E-8.  He is good for another year.  I just don't believe in the one game makes or breaks a coach scenario, and that is what you have layed out.

Is Banner 6 a realistic possibility?

Maybe we should start printing the 40-0 shirts now.  :) I guess I would call it a possibility.  I would take the word realistic out, however.

There have been lots of cases of scholarship athletes giving up their scholarship, and continuing to play.  That is not ever an issue.  The issue would only come into play if they are given an "academic" scholarship as part of IU's  scholarship guarantee.  There is no way the NCAA would allow them to be part of the team.  Heck, Michigan had to jump through hoops to keep Hatch as a student assistant coach.

    1)  They would not be able to stay on the BB team at all, if they moved to the other scholarship.  That would violate the scholarship limits, so no gain there. 2)  The other question I've always had about the non-athletic scholarship offer.  Does that one include room and board or just tuition? I think that scholarship offer is a good thing.  I support it fully, just not sure it is comparable to the athletic scholarship.

Why does someone always say, they think someone will come off a scholarship voluntarily.  The odds of this happening are like being struck by lightening.  That is just not the way Coach takes care of the over sign situation.
  23. My oldest is going to be a freshman at UW/Madison next year. He was invited down by the school this weekend, and one of the sessions he attended was led by Duje Dukan (Forward). My son is a huge IU fan, but the Badgers are his number 2; so he was really excited to find Duje was leading the session. Afterward my boy went up to talk and get a picture. My boy asked "What is the hardest place you have ever played?" With no hesitation at all Dukan told him "Assembly Hall in Bloomington." This is something we have talked about for years, I just thought that it was pretty neat, that even current players view AH as an intimidating place.

Unfortunately the T-Rats, are no better than their parent organization this year.  Though I do need to check the schedule and get to a game!
  25. Six months ago everyone agreed him.  Bryant was considered a lock for the Orange.  A lot changed with that program in the last six months.
