Analysis: Is Kevin Wilson on the hot seat?
jmsgws replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I really want to agree with your statements, but I find myself unable to. I don't think you can compare IU Football to even the worst of the SEC teams. Even the worst of those programs is a major upgrade from IU football. If we had traditionally had even a minimal amount of success I would tend to agree with you, that playing in the B1G East is a draw for a coach. I love Indiana, but I can't see how any successful head coach, from a power conference, would even consider coming to IU. -
When it comes to IU football, for the last 30 years Hope is just about all we've had. If I didn't have so many fond memories of IU football from the 80's I am not sure I could be a fan today.

I think it is a Hero 2. I bought it about a year before they started having the black and silver models. Should probably update, but I use it mostly for filming my hunting, and it works pretty good for that,

My wish wasn't driven by science, it was driven by the word that precedes the start of every IU football season: HOPE! :)

I admit I was one that had a lot of hope for D. Mallory as a coach. I still find it hard to believe how bad it was.

Those are fabulous pictures. I am actually surprised they came from a GoPro. I've never been able to get anything good from my GoPro. It takes good video, but not stills.

I really agree with everything you say, except the sentence I copied. This is year 5. There HAS to be improvement on the defensive side of the field, or I think it shows that Coach WIlson just doesn't have what it takes to field a complete team. How many years is a couple? Kind of like Cameron. Cameron has made an outstanding Offensive Coordinator, but he is a disaster as a head coach.

For almost as long as I can remember, our problem has been defense. I don't know what happened after Bill Mallory left, but it seems that IU coaches thought you could win only with Offense. Practically every year for the last 20 IU has been fun to watch when they had the ball, but it was a train wreck whenever they were on defense. Even last year when we were a one dimensional offense, it was captivating to watch, because you never knew when they were going to break a long run for a touchdown. The said part is that our offense has been productive enough that if we just had a bad defense we should have been able to count on two more wins per year.

The Other Meet and Greet Thread or Something

Meaning behind user name: No real meaning. It is the very first user name I made on the internet. It is a combo of my initials and my wife's initials. It used to have goiu at the end, but when I joined scout that was to long of a name; so I kept it short Approximate Age and Location: 50 ish Living in the land of the Badgers. Are you a born and raised IU fan? Yes When you first knew you were an IU fan? When I was a wee tyke and I used to listen to IU football on the radio with my father. What sports did you play in High School and College? Cross Country and Golf Besides IU, favorite sports teams? The only pro team I follow is the team from Green Bay. Did you attend IU? Yes I did. Graduated from Kelley in 1987. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? The aftermath of Smart's shot in 1987. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? Bird. What is your favorite IU Football memory? Being in Wisconsin when Randle El ran roughshod over the Badgers. Also seeing the Hoosiers beat UM and OSU in the same year! Who is your favorite IU Football player? Trent Green Best IU Sports game ever attended? When Bob Knight threw the chair! What brings you to this board? Got tired of the Scout Board being a ghost town. -
Do you think your questions are in order of importance?

Thank you!!! I had been trying to find this for a long time.

Analysis: Is Kevin Wilson on the hot seat?

You guys need to come live in Wisconsin like me. Since the mid 90's I always had to hear about how much better UW was in Football. Now I have to hear it about Basketball, too... :) -
What are your expectations for the 2015-16 season?
jmsgws replied to darkwingj's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Mine isn't quite as lofty as IndyHutch's (of course he didn't say what banner... Conference, 2nd Round, Sweet 16, Elite 8 Final 4???)... My expectation is to win the B1G, and be in the running for a National Championship. -

That would meet my requirement of a winning season. :) I would give him an extension at even 7 - 5 with a crappy bowl game. That being said. I would not go overboard and give him a 5 - 7 year extension. I would go 2 years with a HUGE buyout if he goes to another program. I know that you are tied a lot more into recruiting than I, but is having 4 years or more on a contract really that big a deal to kids? I would think most kids wouldn't care, because they realize that coaches come and go all the time. -

I still say no extension. He would still have two years left on his contract. -

If there are two more seasons after this one, an extension now is silly, and I don't think our AD is even considering it, after he already blundered with an unwarranted extension for the BB coach. I don't think an extension is warranted unless there is a winning season. -

Well, hell. Why did we ever get rid of Bill Lynch, then? -
I still have my Hoosier Sports Nation wrist bands!!

I've been emailing the football coaches, and the Varsity Club. (I figure my donation, should get me something. :) ) I have not heard back from anyone. I guess I had better start calling next week.

What is your definition of a "belly flop" ? I think he has to do at least 5 wins. I like Coach Wilson, I don't like changing coaches every 4 or 5 years, but there has to be a glimmer of improvement. -
The trailer from one of my favorite movies of my younger days. I remember there was a group of Lieutenants from my Officer Basic Course that took over the theater that night! Oh I loved those days. They Live!

BtownBanners Welcomes......... Terry Hutchens
jmsgws replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
One of things that kept me around the Scout site, was that Terry was almost always online during game chats, and he tried really hard to get chats going in the offseason. Only problem was there were not enough of us around any more! The other thing I have learned is that he will also answer any questions you send him. -
I am not so sure the AAU means much. The B1G knew that Nebraska was getting kicked out when they were given membership. Personally I think those two schools make more sense than Rutgers or Maryland. Penn State for that matter, simply because we would all be in the Midwest. I know that means nothing as to why a school is asked to join, but still I like the ideal of conferences being geographically located. Though the conference has made it very clear that it is all about eyeballs for the television, and getting into new markets.
