I like Ballo a lot but, I can’t lie, dropping low 7 figures on a kid you’re gonna have to sub O for D in endgame situations sticks in my craw a little bit.

Just wanted to add a comment on the bag dropping.
Id recommend the fanbase not villainize the bag dropping from Indiana but instead be happy we can win bag drops now.
its been going on for eternity in college basketball and for the most part those dropping the biggest bags are winning the most games.
I can pretty much assure you if we stop dropping bags the fanbase will have a lot more to worry about than we already do.
id recommend embracing it and just leaving it out of the equation. It’s been a part of high level recruiting forever and now it just expands into mid level recruiting as well.
Be happy we can compete in that for now and cross your fingers the staff uses its salary cap wisely.

He better be playing over 30 min if 1.2 million is what it takes to get him.  Trilly said Ole Miss offered 1 mil and IU upped it to 1.2

Be it in Bloomington or elsewhere, Ballo’s gonna get a handsome bag somewhere.

    The preference makes perfect sense but there’s another factor;
Carlyle has a connection to Ya and Rice and seems to be really excited about the prospect of IU, whereas Conwell may not be as excited.
Even with NIL this isn’t like choosing a tv at Best Buy; the players who have value on the market still largely end up where they feel connected and comfortable. It appears that’s Carlyle.

I think Conwell's NIT run pretty conclusively settles whether his talent can play up a level.

You may be generous here. Not sure you can even do it for short stretches.

Absolutely cannot play Power 5 basketball with Humrichous and Reneau at the 4 and 5 for long stretches.

It’s a crazy, mixed up system.
At least the Covid year thing goes away after this year. Hopefully the unlimited free agency will someday soon.

Along with all of the current players in his comments, Hood-Schifino’s there and, and for some reason I love this, Al Durham. Al’s such a great kid.

It wasn’t that what he did was special. It just demonstrated that he was willing and able to use a guy who was more dynamic off the bounce and would tailor some things for him. JHS wasn’t explosive enough to beat guys cold so they’d run a ton of zoom to get him the ball on the move. He did that a fair amount with Galloway last year, though not with Cupps, and it wasn’t as effective because Gallo isn’t as good. The other thing they did a lot was set their high ball screen as a flat screen so he’d come off it as a straight line drive instead of perpendicular. Didn’t do that for anyone last year. X & O genius? Nope, just a clear example that he’s ready to exploit matchups. If they’re able to bring in, prayers up, both Rice and Carlyle, they’re not gonna look for 50 post touches a game. They’re gonna get those guys the ball on the move and expect them to distort the defense and make reads and plays. Haven’t see Rice enough, but Carlyle can beat guys cold. The last guy on this campus on who could do that was Yogi. I promise that they’ll have end of game plays next year running 1 out with no screener for Carlyle and him just finding a shot.

In response to Stu’s laments about the human tendency to fall back on familiar listening choices, I’m trying an experiment this summer and devoting Saturday yard work listening to unfamiliar acts only, This morning’s choice was Loud Songs for Quiet People by Sweet Nobody. They’re a California indie 4-piece with only a couple of albums out. Really a fun listen with great energy. The vocalist is a woman named Joy Deyo and she’s terrific. Thumbs up.

Some want everyone to know they are not happy with Woodson as coach so they will bring it in every thread to let people know about it.  Even though I did a poll and 87 people were not happy and only 8 said they were happy.  I guess some want to let those 8 know they are not happy with the coach.  Even in a Myles Rice commitment thread they try to find a way to get their point across

Can't vouch for the accuracy.  This is what I had from last year and these kids do sometimes switch teams from year to year.  And last season, a couple played some events on an EYBL team and some events for a 3SSB team.   Also, these are kids with IU offers but many of them are not being actively recruited.  Anyone who has different info please let me know.

Different question, assuming that’s a question given the use of a period: If a post is dropped into a thread and it provides no information, insight, analysis or clarity and will be quickly forgotten, did it really happen?
