  1. Haven’t seen this posted yet. An actual highlight reel of Malone. Obviously it’s highlights, but there’s some instructive stuff. Best thing here for me, by far, are his hands. He doesn’t fight the ball in any way, even in traffic. That’s very nice. Also looks to have pretty decent feet in tight quarters That’ll play. Not explosive, but given his big frame and how soft he is right now Marshall could do him some serious good in about 90 days. Don’t love the stroke, but he takes it confidently so I assume it goes in. Hard to tell much past that, but at 1st blush he doesn’t look like he would be out of place on a high major roster, though speed of play might take some time. But in a limited viewing I’m not opposed to the idea.

He is a Guy. Love him. There’s video of a presser from when Kennesaw St made the tournament of the guy choking up talking about everything his kids had done to resurrect that program and, hell, I would have run through a wall for him. Some smart power conference AD is gonna hook that guy up and not have to worry about it again for 25 years.

Named to MaxPreps Sophomore All-American 1st Team

Oklahoma MaxPreps Player of the Year guided the Rams to their first state championship with averages of 23.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. In a 57-53 overtime victory over Edmond North (Edmond) in the Class 6A state title game, he went off for 34 points and five rebounds.

I'd like to see the staff stay on this one. He's gonna be more than just a catch and shoot guy. The athleticism looks like its gonna come and there's some pre-Montverde McNeeley to him.

I absolutely love this! Ballo is taking the time to just have fun with the boys! Man,…. in grand scheme of things, playing basketball is a huge part of life for these boys, but having fun and building genuine friendships is much bigger in the long run. JMO

    GO IU!

And it’s really easy to lose sight of the fact that they may be insanely physically mature,  they’re still mostly kids. Ballo may look like Goliath, but he’s 21. When I was 21 I was literally dancing into bars because my ID was no longer fake.

And once again it’s proven that cryptic tweets and sources aren’t always correct.  Why do I let myself get caught up in this every year.  Can’t imagine they offered more NIL so that’s a big time slap in the face.

It’s not a slap in the face. You currently have 5 scholarship guards plus a visit lined up for later in the week with a highly regarded kid who has no other visits scheduled. It’s entirely possible the kid wanted a sense of his role and upon getting that feedback calculated that he wanted more certainty for his last year in college. In that case the process worked exactly as it should and I wish him well.

Portal is wild.   Texas got 3 kids committed from it yesterday and then today lost Mitchell and Hunter

Mitchell’s the quintessential YouTube all-American. Remember listening to Biancardi gushing over him at Montverde and thinking, “You do know the kid can’t play, right?”

  7. So, 3 years ago he was at LSU, 2 years ago he was at Georgetown and last year he was at SLU. How’d it go for those coaches? For those foaming at the mouth to move on from Woody, here’s your solution. Get him interested in this kid. Dude’s like a black cat.

All this talk about rosters, minutes, etc.

Is Newton an afterthought, or just being written off?

If he is recovered, I see him competing for guard minutes

If he’s 100% he won’t just compete for minutes, he’ll get’em. But, speaking as probably the #1 Newton fan who’s not a family member, it’s tough to roster build based on that assumption.

Their incoming freshman are currently on their new NIL tours.  Bradshaw is thought to be a North Carolina lean which in part IMO is Ballo being thought of being an IU lean.

The 7'2" Crotation big man from Kentucky is intriguing but he is going to be meeting with Mark Pope before decided if he wants to go back to Kentucky or stay in the portal.

Ivisic should absolutely stay. That’s a great system fit for him.
