  1. Put me in the group that doesn’t have much faith newton will be feasible. Wasn’t a high level recruit (top 30) and hasn’t played in awhile with major injuries. I hope I’m wrong but wouldn’t be counting on it.

  2. Dane was one of his AAU coaches the last two seasons

Yea but he also left that program. You could be right but haven’t heard any of that from them. Granted we haven’t talked about where Trent would play much anytime I’ve talked to them. Louisville would make sense being as it’s an hour drive and super easy from their house but atm I just don’t see it.

  3. I don’t doubt you do but I said most, not all. Recruits can choose to talk about anything and I could post quote after quote of recruits bringing up the positive of the offensive system.

You have to try real hard to not see the opportunity to burry 3s all game long. We just don’t have many guys confident to shoot them. MM is the most but you can still tell he isn’t that confident.

Most of the 3p shots coming from these teams is not some crazy system. Some do for sure but not most. They simply use a high screen, pull up or off a kick out.
Now big ten play as a whole, yeah. It for sure scares guards away.

Yes but how many of those recruits have chosen to play for IU or has committed to IU? If they love it so much then why do we only have one class of 24 signed and losing interest daily with the 25 class? Woodson also said he wanted to get to a 4 out 1 in offense obviously that wasn’t true. People say stuff all the time usually actions speak louder than words.

  4. Not sure how personally involved Owens is in Notre Dame’s recruitment of Sisley, Haralson and Mullins…… I assume very involved… I certainly like the sound of that

Owen’s was down to see Trent the other day. I do know that the Sisley family are huge fans of Walsh as well and say he has done a good job with Trent recruitment.

  5. I often wonder what level of recruitment these high school kids are actually looking for from the head coach. Do they expect multiple visits or are they looking for more contact? What makes them "feel the love"? Does a text message from the head coach congratulating a player after a good game suffice or do they actually need to show up for the games?

I think it could be any of those as long as it’s the head coach and not the assistant most of the time. Especially when the head coach of the other schools recruiting him are doing most of the legwork. This family loves IU and they love Walsh he has done a fantastic job but Walsh isn’t the head coach. He isn’t coming to play for Walsh just like he wouldn’t go to Purdue or Notre Dame to play for the assistant coach.

  6. There are some HCs (not just Woody) who very much recruit this way. They don’t get involved until later and/or the assistant tells them they need to.
Not saying this is right or wrong but it isn’t only Woody going about it this way.  Maybe now is that time and Walsh or whomever needs to communicate that?

Not going to say much more out of respect of the family and not wanting to give away things I’ve been told because I respect their trust but not the case in this instance is all I’ll say. This also doesn’t mean that he won’t end up at IU I have no clue and I don’t think this recruit has a clue yet either or he would be committed somewhere already. It’s also not me advocating for or against Woodson just addressing the worries that have been brought up about recruiting and I know some of those worries are true and resonate with recruit’s.

  7. I'm not making excuses for Woodson, but this is a big reason why we need someone younger. A lot of recruits these days want people to "show them love." You see it on social media constantly, recruits practically begging for coaches to notice them and reach out to them. Perhaps they lack a significant father figure in their lives? Whatever the reason, Woodson doesn't seem like the type of coach who will play that game. Probably why we're not making any kind of inroads at the high school level lately.

Not the case with this family as his father is very much a huge part of his life. But when Izzo and Painter are the lead recruiter in your recruitment and they are constantly reaching out to you but Walsh is the only guy really contacting you or coming to see you it makes an impression. Doesn’t really have much to do with the need “shown love” as this kid isn’t that type of kid but more to do with why play for a coach that doesn’t seem too interested in you when others schools and coaches seem to want you more and you do like those schools as well.

  8. I think the major problem for Woody right now is the 25 class. I’ve heard that 3 different families have complained about Woodson not coming to one of their kids games like other head coaches. Two of these kids should be slam dunks for IU. Maybe Woody knows he doesn’t want to do it anymore after this season.

I also know a family well that isn’t too happy with Woodys lack of involvement like the other head coaches are that are recruiting him. It’s their main concern right now and they want to be shown love by the head coach.

  9. Very cool!  Not too shabby to have a D1 level player on the Managers team.  I've heard there was interest from Woody for Blake to join the team as a potential walk-on but Blake felt he was done playing and is attending IU as a student.

That is correct he wanted him as a walk on but Blake was over the grind of basketball and just wanted to go to school.

  10. Definitely need Sisley to be a Hoosier.  Take your time I guess, Trent, but...you belong in candy stripes.

Anyone worried Shrewsbury at Notre Dame can snag him with the recent upward movement they seem to have? To me that's the school that might worry me the most.  I could see him at ND too with their recent apparent increase in recruiting abilities.

Not too terribly worried at this point about them specifically. Trent eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball he’s going to want to go someplace that’s going to get him to the next level. I just don’t see that at Norte Dame at this time.

  11. They’re both playing up, right? Does Sisley bring anything on defense? The proof is in the pudding as a scorer and rebounder.

Needs some work on the defensive end for sure. But has the tools to be a plus defender or at least a decent one. Grew up taller, more athletic, and just better than anyone in southern Indiana so he never had to defend. He’s already come a long ways in that category in a short few years. I suspect he continues to get better and better on that end.

  12. Hard to tell in AAU settings, but I don’t see any reason to think he’d have any issues. Even as a top 6oish  kid, Sisley’s still been somewhat under the radar, at least until this weekend. He’s really good. Good athlete. Very skilled. Can really shoot. Very projectable. He’s been a regional recruitment up until now. Not anymore. He’ll be a full blown national recruitment.

He has had some national attention all along just not enough to bring any offers or anything other than phone calls and some side eyes while watching other talent in the circuit. I think it’s safe to say after the last 2 weeks the national offers are coming. Super happy for the kid he’s earned it. Great kid with a great work ethic!

  13. Hindsight is a powerful thing. Imagine the absolute meltdown of this board and the entire fanbase had we not even offered a 5-star in-state PG. Yikes.

Oh for sure! Most on here we’re having a meltdown when he was a Michigan lock early on. Now everyone is a master talent evaluator and could see it before he committed.

  14. Not saying it’s true but would be shocked if this happens. I talked to Trent and his dad after his last home game and both were very excited about the upcoming AAU season and we’re hoping he would put in enough work to blow up this summer. Trent was very much enjoying the process and was having a blast with it. I’m excited for Trent and his family and cannot wait to see where he ends up.
