What's so terrible about it?
Cignetti is hard to argue against given that he took over a bad team and won a championship.
Coaches that walked into a top program and have maintained are harder to judge because it is hard to say how much of their success is due to coaching and how much is due to almost always having a talent advantage. I don't follow other teams enough to say how good the list is overall.  It includes the coaches that are often seen in other lists of top coaches.

how does it compare to other teams bottom of the roster?
Are you saying you would rather just leave the last 2 spots open?
Players either want paid or playing time (often both).   Not sure what you are expecting for free end of the bench players (and by free I mean only paid with a free education).

How so?  Whitmer wasn't an option any more as he moved on to the NFL (unless he was pushed out but we don't know that to be the case).  
The only thing we know for sure is that Cigs thinks TIno is the best option of those who were available to us.

I think it would only trigger others if it was like a last spot available type thing and then the commit would likely just be a save my spot while I decide commit.  

Maybe the problem wasn't in how much the players were making but in what the greedy at the top were doing with the profits.
Maybe instead of coaches and players making 6-8 figures, tuition could be subsidized for the whole student body.   There goes the multi billion dollar predatory student loan industry though

If what people are worth is determined by revenue brought in then I guess teachers, policeman, firefighters etc should all just work for free.
If every player quit and we fielded teams of replacements, do you really believe revenue would go to zero?  Value added is more relevant and salary also can't solely be determined by revenue as illustrated in aforementioned fields.  It is insane players coaches makes multiple times more than doctors, regular teachers and almost every other field outside maybe overpaid ceos
