People always asked me if I played basketball because I was so very tall.
I started responding:  Do you play mini-golf?

DISCLAIMER:  This picture has nothing to do with IUFB.  I just hope a year from now Coach Cig has knocked it out of the park and we start seeing our logo associated with top level recruits.

I agree about IU Admin being historically too timid and/or complacent to approach athletics as proactively and aggressively as other B1G 10 schools do. I hope that changes over the life of the new rights contract, but I’m not optimistic on that front, especially after Dolson’s comments about some of that money being “already spent.”
I believe Texas A&M didn’t actually cut Fisher “a check” but the 12th Man Foundation cut Fisher a $19 million check and A&M wil pay Fisher the remaining $58 million from university funds (not booster money) with annual payments spread out over 8 years. Hard for someone as cynical as I am to see IU taking that approach with its own university funds instead of relying on its athletic boosters to bail it out from its numerous hiring mistakes.
Which imo is how we end up with a basketball program that needs a serious intervention and change but that also appears to be controlled by a small handful of donors who want no such intervention or change to be made.

For you still holding out hope, you'll have to hold your breath until 6:00 Monday evening.  If there's no good news by then (and it's highly unlikely), all your continued rants and raves will be nothing more than
Woody effectively gave us the middle finger Senior Night.

It is IUFB we're talking here but today, right now, I'm at the level of we're going to turn some heads this year and going to be the talk of the nation. Like, major talk. Keep in mind every year about this time I'm always thinking we're going to win at least 6 games, but this year feels different than others. Hearing the coach say words like "No self imposed limitations" or "Change the way people think" just oozes with confidence. It's what this program needs, a proven winner. I'm excited and can't wait for the season to start. But again, we're talking IUFB here so only time will tell.

This is why I'm very bullish on IUFB. My unicorn dream to see before I get fed to the worms is to witness IU become a football school.

ESPN: Simply put, no one has won big here in nearly a century. How did Scott Dolson and the administration tell you it was going to be different?
Cignetti: I think I sensed the commitment here that, obviously, college athletics has changed a lot. Football has changed a lot. Football's driving the bus across the country in terms of athletic revenue. And Scott has not been here that long as the AD, but he's been here 33 years and had a really good feel for Indiana. He came up as a ball boy under Bobby Knight. He and I really hit it off. I really got a sense from the president, Pamela Whitten, who had been at Georgia for five years and at Michigan State 15, that football was really important. Institutionally, the football budget and the commitment would be there. I knew there would be an NIL commitment, at least triple what it had been. As it turns out, it's been more than that. I felt like there was a commitment to get it done. And I felt extremely confident with a commitment that we would be successful. And I think in December, we made tremendous progress here. You can't really measure, it's not tangible or quantifiable because we haven't played a game. But we completely flipped the roster in December.

Hey guys, sorry. I’ve had some health issues over the last couple months that have seemed to be corrected, but I haven’t been doing much outside work and kids stuff.

I will get a draft time set up for a Sunday evening if that works okay for everyone. Say 6:30pm central?

He led the Hoosiers in rushing and punting for three straight years and was drafted in the second round by San Francisco and played four seasons with the 49ers.
After football, he went into a career in sales and lived in Fishers.

First, I want change as much as anyone. HOWEVER when it comes to the things we LOVE the MOST it’s really easy to criticize and complain about those who we feel are letting us down. So, I’ve felt convicted.
CMW has a tough job. Many of the miscues are of his own doing, BUT I suspect there are LOTS factors that have been out of his control. Perhaps he prideful (many high-achievers are). Maybe he’s out of his depth (I’ve been there before). Maybe he needs wisdom… we all do.
With that said I’d encourage you to pray for CMW. I don’t think that means you have to want him to continue being the coach, but I do think that keeps things in perspective.  He is a professional and he hasn’t produced the way he should. BUT he’s also a man, and all of us could use the prayer— especially him.
Not only that— praying for HIM will keep US from falling prey to the arrogance and pride that some have sensed in him.
No need to reply. Just food for thought from one Hoosier to the rest.

I'm not a betting man but if I did, I'd smash that over button!

    From the article:
In ESPN's Bill Connelly SP+ rankings – which accounts for returning production, recent recruiting success, recent history, and is a predictive measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football, not a résumé ranking – ranks Indiana 90th in the nation with a -8.3 SP+ rating. More specifically, Indiana has a 20.8 offensive SP+ rating (102nd), a 29.1 defensive SP+ rating (66th) and a special 0.1 special teams SP+ rating (63rd).

    90. Indiana    -8.3    20.8 (102)    29.1 (66)    0.1 (63)

    2023 Ranking
    92. Indiana (3-9)    -7.4    19.6 (105)    27.2 (73)    0.3 (63)
IUFB's offense will be ranked in the top 50 or close to it this year. And if the defense can even stay at 66th or just the same as last year they're winning a lot of games. For example all one score games will fall in our favor more times than not.

Why do you ask I'm saying top 50 offense? JMU. Here are last year's JMU's SP+ Rankings
    20. JMU (11-2)    11.8    34.6 (19)    23.7 (43)    1.0 (40)

I can't repeat enough of how good this coach is. We're in for a treat folks.

Saw a video of The Bangles playing Hazy Shade of Winter, originally by Simon & Garfunkel, from 2019. Susanna Hoffs was 60 but I'm pretty sure she found the fountain of youth and drank it dry.

Her and that Rickenbacker was a dangerous combination.
And the intro to that song is pretty fun to play.
