IU vs WIU- Game Thread 11/5 @ 7 pm BTN+

I’m interested to see the starting lineup for the next game. If Green is still out and Rob does not get the starting nod again.....I think I’m forced to start thinking Rob is not such a lock for the starting/ending 5 as we might want to believe. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Anyone else maybe slightly worried about Green being out for as long as he has? I’m not getting much for information here. I assume he’s not been practicing either? I fear he will be miles behind when finally cleared. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I agree. For now. His shot does look sooooo much better than I remember from last season. Like it’s a different dude or something. Your right. When open and when the timing is right. What I mean is, I don’t yet want him taking a three even if open, if we have clanked deep balls on successive prior possessions. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Well, Tell you what, I understand the sarcasm. Couple things though. Every single one of my other subscriptions are midnight to midnight. We have several as we don’t have cable. None work the way BTN does. None. BTN changed this policy recently. They were always midnight to midnight as well. They changed to time and date of payment on August 9th 2019. What’s significant about that???? That’s the day IU announced the date and time for Hoosier Hysteria......coincidence?-possibly. Shady? Definitely. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Ahhhh, I see. I couldn’t figure out why the commentators kept saying he had 2-3pointers and a two but somehow the score was 9-3 when I finally tuned in. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

So I have for years now, thought the PPV BTN streaming service, particularly the company that provides it, were some of the shadiest, greediest, scumbags I have ever dealt with. Tonight doesn’t change my mind. I purchased the one mont subscription the day of HH (October 5th). I thought “Oh cool, I pay the one month and get HH, the exhibition, and the Season opener which is November 5th!” Wrong. I turn it on tonight and nothing. Subscription ended at 10 am. Today. Jesus. Yeah technically that’s 30 days to the minute. But damn man, come on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

He does. Both 3 pointers coming off of nice ball movement. Nothing but net. Also apparently got a two in the lane though I didn’t see that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Agreed on the voice. Sounded like a cartoon character from one of those Saturday morning kids shows. Thing is though, I did listen, tough as it was, and I thought the kid really knew his stuff. I was actually impressed towards the end. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Watched on BTN plus. Couple thoughts. I believe Rob P. might be actual hurt and not just cautiously held out. At the beginning of the skills competition, he walked off the stage exit steps and looked to be limping noticeably. Very ginger steps on what I’d say looks like a left ankle. Lots of time to heal yet. Probably nothing. Hunter looked good on a couple takes. TJD impressed me the most. He’s a ball hawk. Aggressive rebounder. Won the battle with Brunk in my opinion. Close though. Brunk had some flashes as well. Though Justin hit a nice mid-range shot, I feel like he might have tendency to disappear for stretches again. Hope not. He’s got to be engaged in every sequence this season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Many question marks surround the IU program, from the availability of Hunter, to the transformation of Green. I believe for IU to make the NCAA’s this season, the team must have light year jumps from Justin and Rob, and an injured reserve list far shorter than the previous seasons. Memphis, though young, will have less in the questionable side of the ledger to begin the season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

NIT Quarterfinal Game Thread - IU vs. Wichita State | Tuesday @ 7:00PM on ESPN
cappymo14 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don’t know man. The lack of effort thing is just an excuse to me. How do you measure effort? Is there a measuring stick or something? The lack of effort talk started with the slow starts. Listen, I’m going to tell you why (again) the team was prone to slow starts. You can agree or disagree, but it will be out there. Start with an offense that was nothing. No movement, no goal, no attempt to get the ball to its best players in a position to score. The wrong people were taking shots. Every. Time. Most of those were late shot clock because the offensive scheme failed, not the player. Couple bricks later, it’s 10-0. Romeo probably hadn’t touched the ball and if Juwan shot, it was a 3. Again, wrong guy, wrong spot. Flawed lineups later on were caused by mounting injuries and a suspension. Mcbob, Fitzner, Damezi, Moore and Jake? Really? What was going to happen? On the other end, it was a scramble. Packline shmackline, it’s still fricken man to man and it’s still basketball. 2 guys can’t follow the handle on a simple ball screen bro. How many times in the first 4 minutes of a game? Tell me 5 and I’ll show you 10. Rebounding buried them to start, and finish games all season. Well hell, rebounding is all effort right? That must surely prove that the team was dogging it right? Bro’s, you played Michigan twice, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio St., Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa and Duke. And those were just the games we lost...did we get out rebounded? Jesus Christ, of course we did, are you kidding? Talk about size disadvantage, shoot man, that’s mountains and mole hills. You can call losing games a lack of effort if you’d like, but consider for a moment another cause. Lack of talent. Lack of size. Lack of shooting. Lack of coaching. The last one hurts to say. I firmly believe there were undeniable coaching deficiencies that cost this team dearly. It’s hard for me to admit in print. I like Archie. I bet if you asked him though, he’d be the first to agree. It was not his finest job. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Well, not terribly surprised. Open shots and free-throws again. Mix that with some poor passing, poor rebounding, and a pac-line defense that is incredibly susceptible to dribble penetration. Destined to finish with 16 losses. Was always going to happen, injuries or not. I somewhat agree with the statement “Have a single one and done, and you’re done”. Romeo Langford didn’t end up being the savior we all hoped for. The kid came in with absolutely impossible expectations. I lightly subscribe to the theory that his very presence created something of a power struggle within the team. His “having a different agenda” is bull crap though. I felt he gave his very best every day, and for a time, I thought he might just be that savior. I’d say it was more that him being the focal point created jealousy. I could see it in several players. Whatever Romeo decides to do (Brother, listen to me man, go get that money.) I wish him the very best. Sad to see both Juwan, and likely Romeo leave without getting a shot at the Dance. I truly hate it for both of them. So on to next year. Long summer, no recruitment to follow. Going to be checking in from time to time, to see if there’s any news or just for a quick chat. Good luck to you all. Better days are right around the corner. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Initially, I also called for an H+H review. The more I watched the replays however, I don’t think there was any intent to deceive the officials and it would have been difficult to say which player got the worst of it. For me, I say play on, with one caveat. Should it have been reviewed? Probably. If you are going to make a thing a point of emphasis the entire season, you can’t just suddenly go blind in the last couple minutes of a close game. What I’m saying is, with these emphasized rules, what is called a foul in November, is rarely still called in March. Even when it’s most important to do so. All that said, I still think this particular case was a play on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
