  1. I’ll say this about Lander. He will be overlooked tonight by most, but the minutes he had tonight were some of his best. He absolutely STOLE those very valuable minutes for Archie. He didn’t have to be great, he just had to get some rest for Rob/Frank. His defense was good, he moved the ball, got guys some shots and was strong with the ball. Those minutes he played in the 2nd half were GIGANTIC. Good job kid. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. True story. During Yogi’s senior season my son asked if teams ever press Indiana. I said, “not really, Indiana has Yogi Ferrell”. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  16. Look, just play some f***ing defense. Quit with the stupid confidence excuses and make some open shots. Don’t play stupid lineups and stop f***ing experimenting with guys who have proven they can’t provide either of those. Grow some big hairy ones and get in there and rebound the damn ball. Hawks can play but they ain’t going to no ship. What? You think this is Gonzaga? Heyylll naw! If they are so damn untouchable, then why did they lose to minny mouse? They play inside out and do it well. So take the damn perimeter away. Iowa wants to feature Garza? Fine! Let them do it. You concentrate on perimeter defense and getting shots for the guys on our team that actually have a chance of making one. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

I think you might be right. Now, with Leal you may give up some on ball defense and a bit of rebounding, but it’s not like you’d be pulling Trey for the whole game. Leal may even fail to score at the same average as Galloway for a few games, but that would be ok, in part, because the threat would be there. The mere threat that Leal is known on the opponent scouting report as a guy that needs to be guarded on the perimeter would be a big upgrade to what we really want to do on offense, which is get the ball on the block. Imagine if he makes one early. In my opinion, that alone, that threat, is what could make all the difference. Trey still needs to play a good amount of minutes, no doubt he does things Leal and even Durham aren’t really capable of. But I think he needs to do it coming off the bench as a change of pace from Leal. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

We are Currently a Tourney Team

I usually take it easy on the boards after PU losses. The sky is always falling and the sun will never rise. But then it does. This time around though, I think the doom is real. Seems like the whole world is against them. Even the most consistently positive podcast I know of, is now calling for a change. Depressing. One thing is certain, we are about to see what this team is made of. I feel the very future of the program rests on the shoulders of this young team. Can they grind out enough close wins to get an invite? Yeah, I think it’s more than possible. Will they? Don’t know. The players are going to need to decide how bad they want it. I figure, they have got to know that their coach’s future hinges on their success / failure. I fear the negativity directed toward the staff may have gotten in the heads of the players. I hope they can make it to their goal. I feel that missing the NCAA this season, with it being held in Indiana, would constitute a catastrophic failure. Years. It would take years to recover. Fellas, play as hard as you can, for as long as you can. The program depends on it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

It is definitely limiting the offense. Him specifically. The argument is “well, nobody else on the team can shoot either”. That may be true, but teams are not intentionally leaving Rob, Aljami, and Frank open. I’m saying he’s on the scouting report as a guy who you need to goad into taking one. He’s getting these miracle open looks, seemingly every possession. It’s not because our offense is so efficient, and he’s just the lucky recipient. No. It’s on purpose. Now he’s not even willing to hoist them and is trying to drive on guys who are playing 5 feet off him. Guess what? That’s on the scouting report too. His presence on the floor exacerbates the same old problem of teams packing the lane to prevent TJD. I’m sorry to have to think this way, I do love the kid., but if he can’t hit at least 30%, you have to cut his minutes or sub him defense/offense. His ineffective 3 % is causing problems getting space inside. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

He’s never really shot well. Especially poor in HS. I don’t feel like that will change under the current staff, or any other staff for that matter. He’s not a shooter, never was. Many, many data points support this. Many in this very thread. The writing should have been clear as day. I don’t see how so many have been taken by surprise here? Can he develop a shot out of the blue? Sure. I’m guessing he will shoot fine as a senior. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    POTFB 1/14 @ 7 PM FS1

Purdue freshmen 35 Indiana freshmen 3 Amount of minutes, played a large roll in this game statistic. Imagine equal minutes between the freshmen class from both teams. Now, give me your guess at what this statistic might have been. My guess is 35-9. We got problems. That’s the bench. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I completely disagree. Galloway passing up an easy 3 has led to 8. Yes 8 points for IU. Edit: And 1 turnover on the one he did take. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
