  1. Thanks

This is why I had a much larger issue with his “there shouldn’t be discussion about my job, I’ve done my job” comment than the true fan stuff. A collective statement that said something like “look, I get the frustration, I’m frustrated too. We aren’t where this program should be and we’re going to keep fighting like hell to get back to that point” would have gone a lot farther than defiantly claiming you’ve done your job when we haven’t even sniffed the goals he himself set.

Oh yeah. Under is free money. Might even get to celebrate the win Saturday night.

It goes a bit deeper than “simply win”.
Right now, we’ve won 4 games in a row. Getting X back has contributed to that, sure. But it is also attributed to WHO they have played and the recent success of those teams.
    Consider:
*Wisconsin: 3-7 in their last 10 games
*Maryland: 2-8 in their last 10 games
*Minnesota: 4-6 in their last 10 games
*Michigan St: 5-5 in their last 10 games
Don’t forget it took a fire alarm to slow the Wisconsin momentum of coming back from 15 down to tying the score. We had a 17 point lead over Michigan St that was completely erased before pulling it out. We were down 15 in the second half at Maryland before rallying to win.
There is no consistency in play. Let me say that again, THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY IN PLAY. Which is why so many on here feel the way they do. Sure, we won 4 straight, but we did it over teams playing mediocre at best.

In five games against Top 10 team from Kenpom (UCONN, Auburn, Purdue, Illinois) we have lost by an AVERAGE of 19.4 points. Those teams shot an average of 43.9%  from the field, 37.1% from outside the 3-pt arc and 75.5% from the FT line. IU averaged 42.1, 23.3, and 61.2 for those 5 games.
THIS is why people are pi$$ed. Mike Woodson promised competing for Big 10 and National Championships. He hasn’t come close to either, in large part because of style of play and recruiting.

So be happy with winning. But don’t be condescending to those of us who aren’t. As I’ve shown you above, IU has done nothing during this win streak to indicate wins are sustainable against good competition.

Ledlum committed and then decommitted after Knecht signed.  I have wondered if he was told he had a starting spot with Tennessee and then when Knecht was signedd he was told that he wouldn't, or if Ledlum just knew that would mean less time.  I know they don't play the same position but Ledlum seeing himself as a SF or combo forward, there is a ripple effect on playing time.

So to play out the Dalton Knecht example. How is that locker room working out? Vescovi has sacrificed playing time even though he committed to come back before Knecht committed. Jordan-James came back after Knecht committed. Someone was losing a spot. You've suggested that Knecht was promised a starting spot at UT, which would mean others were told they no longer had a starting spot. All that landed them was an outright SEC championship and competing for a #1 seed. Tough locker room situation.

I still don't understand how anybody can believe that Dalton Knecht looked at the situation at:
UT: Ziegler, Vescovi returning, Gainey and Ledlum committed, and Jordan-James possibly returning (which he did)  -or-
IU: XJ and Galloway returning plus nothing but a huge, massive wide-open Dalton Knecht sized gap at the 3 (Mgbako was a month away from committing)
and said, yeah well I'm not guaranteed a starting spot there and somehow guaranteed a starting spot at UT so I'll go there. He didn't even visit us, did he? I know you're going to say something like "you don't have to believe it but it's true." No, it's not. Dalton Knecht did not want to play for Indiana.
