@IUc2016 good call on not quoting long posts! And yeah I'm opposed the scenario where an undefeated team doesn't have any chance at all, which is why I'm for minimal expansion (6 or 8 teams) along with stipulations that an undefeated conference champion will always get an auto bid.
And your second point is really good. Yes, the lopsided nature of the sport and disparity between the powerful few and everyone else is likely a result of how college football has functioned for so long. And I can see an expanded playoff adding more parity slowly over the years. I'm still not convinced, but you're making me think...
(Is this the part where I start saying it doesn't matter anyway b/c in 20 years football will be on a fairly sharp decline and the amount of talented athletes playing football at a young age will be running thin therefore limiting the amount of high quality players playing college football and beyond b/c soccer has finally overtaken it as the most popular sport in America? No? Leave that out? Okay. Nevermind.) :-)

Yeah I have no idea how expansion will affect the disparity that has plagued college football, just some thoughts I have had for awhile now as I am sick of not only watching Clemson and Bama, but hearing about them nonstop during football coverage. Hoping that change will have a positive impact on the sport because I am tired of the status quo.
As for soccer, I am all for it. And that is coming from someone who played football k-12.

Armond was an assistant with the Celtics when I worked there, so I got to know him a bit. This is huge. He is as legit as it gets in terms of his knowledge as well as the way he interacts with players. He will be phenomenal working with players on and off the court (assuming he is used with one of those new non-staff slots that can be on the court).
I couldn't endorse this hire more!

Totally random story here....I was talking to a good buddy of mine who is a Vandy grad. I brought up the 2013 regionals where we would have hosted Vandy in the super regionals in Bloomington if not for the bottom of the 9th walk off homerun by Stanford b/c that still bugs me (PUT IN DENATO TO PITCH TO THE LEFTY!!). Anyway, I just discovered today that the guy who hit the walk-off was none other than the guy who has become my favorite player on the Cardinals, Tommy freaking Edman. I'm distraught. I can't believe this. I just don't understand how my man Tommy Eds could have done this to me.

Ya know my Dad had a saying about pizza that was pretty spot on. Sorry in advance, mods, if this doesn't fly. But it was, "Pizza is kinda like sex. Even when it's bad.....well, it's still pretty good."

Could be missing a name or two, but one thing is clear about this group -- IU is recruiting higher level kids right now.

I really don’t like the noon starts from a stadium atmosphere perspective. I get that older fans like it, but I think it will be difficult to get the student section in full force (and full intoxication) that early in the day.

Javy being Javy. I'm pretty sure he stole first base.

Then stole second (or went there on an error).

I'm not expecting a step backwards per se.  I'm just setting my expectations a little different than others.  Like I wouldn't be surprised if our beloved Hoosiers start the season 2-3 or 1-4 or finish the season 6-6.  But then again I also wouldn't be surprised if they start 5-0 or 4-1 or finish the season with 8 to 10 wins.  I would be completely surprised if they have a losing season and don't go bowling.  That last sentence is probably the feeling for most if not all of us IUFB faithful.  And actually typing out that sentence fully explains the progress the program is going with CTA running this thing.  It's awesome to be talking this way about IUFB.  LEO

One example would be Lynn Washington.  He played two years for IU...1999 and 2000.  Averaged less than 6 pts per game.  6'7" 230 lbs.  Left IU and went to Japan where he played for something like 10 years.  No, it wasn't the NBA, and he didn't make millions annually, but he made over 100k annually, which he invested back home.  His housing and living expenses were all handled by his team.  For a marginal college player he did pretty damn well... and he was good enough to be a perennial all star as well as being considered a legend in his Japanese pro league.  **The key, ofc, is that you have to have the strength, guts, courage, faith, whatever you want to call it...to go overseas.  Leaving home, strange language, strange culture, strange food...it's not easy.  But it can be done...but it's not for everyone.

If his dream was to play pro basketball, just b/c the NBA didn't work out doesn't mean you can't make money playing pro ball. I don't understand why more fringe NBA players don't do this overseas. I know not everyone will be comfortable going that route, but if that is truly the dream, he could have had a heck of a career playing in another country making good money, and at any time could have impressed enough to get picked back up by a NBA team.

Sad story of missed opportunities. Hope he turns it around. At his size, he's not looking at a long life if he doesn't turn around his health either.

I'm all for getting rid of the current Matt Carpenter. I have a ball that Albert threw to my son before hitting a huge 3 run homer against the Reds many years ago that I need him to sign, so I kind of need him closer to home. :-)

IU ranked 11th in ESPN power rankings.
Some stupid errors in the analysis but good publicity.

If this was suggested I can't possibly imagine it had any merit. I've seen it come up in past years as well...probably the Crean years. The thought of any player or parents of a player saying yeah sure I'll start paying tuition so you can use my son's scholarship that he earned on another player so they won't have to pay tuition....I just can't ever see that happening. Nor should it ever happen.
