OT: LOL, Illinois fans react to Cliff Alexander Decision
JSHoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"What is your problem, Cliff" I didn't think being too good for a mediocre program in Illinois was a problem. :nea: -
By one back offense I thought you meant an offense where one workhorse back gets the bulk of the carries. Running back by committee is using a different back on pretty well each down (i.e. one back on 1st, and switch him out on 2nd, etc).

IU vs Wiscy POST game thread
JSHoosier replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I'm not going to give up on Wilson yet. Stepping in at a historically bad program, and taking over for an imbecile of a coach isn't going to be an easy hill to climb. He's offensive minded, perhaps too much so the way he always puts blame on the offense, and the offense usually does more than enough to win. Doug Mallory on the other hand seems like Mike Davis of the gridiron, and needs to be canned as soon as humanly possible. I would've guessed incriminating photos. -
Running back by committee helps limit wear and tear on each back though, and seems like it's becoming more and more common. Granted there are times it seems like it doesn't really allow one back to get in a good groove. The up tempo offense isn't doing any favors, but the defense could help itself some by not being utterly useless on 3rd down.
-
I'm probably going to start throwing things when Mallory is brought back for next season.
-
How did we not get a tackle there? Oh right, our defense couldn't stop a pop warner team.
-
Screw that. Doug Mallory hasn't earned that kind of respect. He's earned getting fired publicly, re-hired, and instantly fired again just for laughs.
-
I'm sick of Wilson always saying the offense needs to do more, even though most weeks the offense puts enough points on the board to win and the "defense" let's them down.
-
Hey, they got a stop. Of course this is Indiana football, so this drive will result in a safety.
-
I know I might be setting the bar high, but just don't get shut out. Hey, shoot for the moon even if you miss you'll land among the stars.
-
So goes the story of Indiana's Doug Mallory defense. Almost a positive followed by

Shhh! Don't ruin it. Those people probably still haven't noticed that Clark Kent is just Superman wearing glasses...oops.
-
I get home and turn on the game, naturally to find the beatdown is in progress.

Illwhini fans live in a constant state of denial. Not unlike Purdue fans. -

Yeah, I went to the chat and it said I don't have access. -
That fake out is pretty good, but it's always funny when it happens to someone else. They have every right to be pissed about it, we would be too. I wish I could say it couldn't happen to a better fan base though, but I'd be lying it'd be better if it happened to UK. Granted if that happened WWW would issue a stop payment so fast he'd actually go back in time but that's beside the point.
-
Illwhini fans must be having Eric Gordon flashbacks.

I think I know which poster you're talking about. He's knowledgeable about the game, but very abrasive in how he posts. I've exchanged PMs with him though and they've been pleasant. I don't really think Cal is a great example though. No one in the country is recruiting on the level he is, dirty as he may be. I've said before and I'll say it again, even Mike Davis could win with the teams he's put together at UK.

I tend to be my own biggest critic, so I focus on what I did wrong. A chain breaks you focus on the link that broke, not the ones that held. Again I go back to Cellvin Samsung (nope, won't use his actual name). His weakness wrecked our program, I don't care that he was a good in game coach. Weaknesses need to be improved upon, that's why you focus on them. Enemies infiltrate your fortress, you want to know where and how so you can improve it. It will never be perfect, perfection is an unattainable ideal, but you focus on weaknesses to improve them.
-
Why shouldn't we look at negatives? A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. By that argument we should only remember Cellvin Samsung as a good in game coach, not that his weaknesses are why the program was blown up.

Indiana basketball athletes going rogue.

I would never go to UK. Although I'd have a harder time turning down the opportunity to play for Izzo. -

I don't even want the best every night. Just want to replace a couple of the heavily frosted cupcakes with a teams that are at least decent. I don't want a world beater non-conference schedule, I understand having some easy games on the schedule, I just want some of those gimme games replaced with ones that should be at least a bit of a challenge. Not a gauntlet, not freshly baked extra fluffy, somewhere in between.
