In some ways yes, in many ways not. But Trey is pretty freaking good. He could be the 5th-7th best player on a team that made a deep tournament run if he could be used in the right role. “Featured scorer” was most certainly NOT the right role.

Perkins. Tucker. That’d be two, amirite?
-
Great post. I’ll propose something even better that many have been calling for. How about Galloway as the first guard off the bench?
-
Completely agree. But we have seven open spots and plenty of room for a catch and shoot wing to add to the mix. Miller Kopp was underappreciated in his time! A little more food for thought: Cupps was 36% from three on low volume this past season. And he’s in the gym every morning at 6 AM working on that jumpshot. He has a ton of room for growth as a shooter.

Love love, love, Mack That doesn’t make Perkins any less of an outstanding pick up. We are all counting our chickens before they’ve hatched. At this point I’m still hoping for one high-quality pick up. Then we’ll go from there.
-
Mack is a super fun player and will likely be very good at a power five, but I’m partial to the guy that averaged 15 points a game against Big Ten defenses. And he’s a local kid. And he plays angry and defends and really rebounds considering his position. If the same people who are calling for Malik Reneau to be our five think that we can have skinny, low, physicality guards, you’re asking for lousy roster construction again.

78% ft isn’t good enough?

Just saying. I’ve read a lot of strong opinions that we have to hit multiple home runs with our seven likely open spots. I know it hasn’t happened yet, but if a five star freshman and the second team all Big Ten point guard are the first two additions? That’s pretty ******* strong. -
Tony Perkins is a grown-@$$ man on the basketball court. Sign me up any day any way for adding him.
-
Yup. But still and always true; it’s not who you miss on, it’s who you get. And Bryson Tucker + Tony Perkins are damn fine gets. Perkins and Gallo play hard. And they defend. Still need more, but it’s a solid start, especially with Tucker added as a three.

Has the undisputed king of very late five star commits struck again?!!? Damn I hope so. MOVE MALIK TO THE FIVE PLEEEZE -
Apparently he’s cooking. Guessing Bryson Tucker is on the menu, and at least one really tasty portal menu item. It may be that the undisputed king of late commit five stars is striking again.

^^Hey—you edited to add this^^ so… what do think. Having seen this IU team a lot, can they hang? Any chance Scalia gets ten looks from distance? -

Best case scenario? He’s good enough to start at the three, Mack to the four, and Malik at the five. Add a new point, a rim protection backup, and a catch and shoot guy, and we would then have a much more modern roster. If Gallo was the first off the bench? Even better. -
100% would have been. Reeves had a great year and his skill set was a complete void for us.

Curious whether the 6’7” gal is quick enough to single cover Holmes with no guard digs. Holmes can be turnover prone with guard digs but really good without them. Oklahoma didn’t double or dig and Holmes went for 29. But Oklahoma controlled the three point line well. -

Nice post—appreciate your visit. IU will need to minimize turnovers, prevent second chance points, and get looks from three. Go ahead; double Holmes… I dare ya! -

When Huggins graduated high school Woody was still in middle school. Huggins isn't just a mess personally; he old. Zero chance they'll choose Huggy, though it would be funny as hell. -
I love Schertz as an on-court coach and personality too. I imagine the bigger challenge for him (and he may be up to this challenge also) will be to be the face of and pretty much CEO of a major P5 program. Some P5 program is gonna find out whether he's up to it.

A very well-informed poster has told me that Sears is a fantastic get for any P5 team. Based on what he believes, Sears could truly change our season. -

My guess? We will stay the same, but with better guards. -

A team that is athletic and running will never feature Malik Reneau. And yet next season we again will feature Malik Reneau. -

I would love to have an IUBB player that barks at his teammates; just not sure I want it to be a freshman.
