(2017) LB Thomas Allen to Indiana

I'm thinking this commitment is gonna stick. Hope the coaching staff doesn't ground him.
  2. Position-less basketball has arrived at IU. This year, All of our rotation players can guard at least SG through center, or PG through PF (unless JBj doesn't succeed at guarding anyone, lol). David Beatty very much fits that mode.
  3. Well heck. That is pretty newsworthy. Beatty is very much in the RoJo/tough as nails, good shooter mode. Excellent offer list. It also confirms what we should have deciphered from the Tremont Waters interest: IUBB wants to take five for '17, another guard and another large wing or big.
  4. As much as I like to pile on the Illini, both of their boards that I've read generally think that UCLA is the most likely destination.

    Todd Jadlow...and Bob Knight

Did your coach and ever drop trou and take a dump at midfield in front of the team? IU's did.
  6. Ummm... Wilkes and Justin Smith are also almost the exact same height and weight.

Coach Avery Johnson is really good. Between Bama and Pearl at Auburn UK is gonna start losing some conference games.
  8. Excellent coach with a proven winning record in the B1G, good point guard, experience, outside shooters, and Donnal and that German dude are pretty good bigs.

It's probably not appropriate to attach conventional, sane logic to a guy that has had as dysfunctional a life as Jadlow.
  10. Michigan is being vastly underrated as a B1G contender for the coming season IMO.

I'm a 1987 IU grad, and I understand the way things were. In many respects, I'm glad they're not like that anymore.

Like...Neil Reed. And Lawrence Funderburke. And Luke Recker. And Mike Giomi. And Jason Collier. And Delray Brooks. And others who were "un-involved with the program." Do you really think the administration acted solely on the Reed video, and didn't have other player complaints?!? And you're calling me naive? Sigh.

Agree to disagree. (If allegations are true), parents DID NOT know that their kids would physically and verbally abused to that extent.

I can only speculate: He was a fantastic basketball coach Recruiting back then largely consisted of an in-home visit and an offer; no OVs or extended processes. You got Coach Knight or Wooden in your living room saying "I want you to play for me"...and that was all she wrote. I'm reasonably certain that if a high, high end recruit visited a practice, RMK was not flinging tampons at players with parents watching. Knight's recruiting suffered as he got older, and his transfer rate increased. Knight DID stress academics and discipline; an attractive pitch to most. A player that was belittled and potentially abused by Knight was probably scared sh_tless of him, and would not have been likely to speak to a recruit about it; imagine the Knight repercussions for doing so. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it quietly happened through back channels now and then. Recruits may have heard stories, but negative recruiting from other programs existed and they probably (rightly) took it with a grain of salt.

(2017) PF Billy Preston to Kansas

If, by nothing, you mean two four star players and possibly a third four star (Beatty), plus one three star recruit.

I'm quite certain that no 18 year old and their parents would have knowingly consented to the alleged behavior by Bob Knight. Can you imagine? Parents of a recruit: "Coach Knight, will you mentor and discipline my son with 'tough love'?" Bob Knight: "Yes; and I will do so by squeezing their balls, cracking a clipboard over their head, flinging tampons and excrement at them, and mocking their insecurities and facial tics." Parent: "Cool - tough love. Sign us up!" PS: I'M NOT SAYING ALL OF THESE ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE, OR THAT JADLOW DOESN'T HAVE AN ULTERIOR PROFIT MOTIVE. BUT...THERE DOES SEEM TO BE A MOUNTING BODY OF (CIRCUMSTANTIAL) EVIDENCE, + THE IRREFUTABLE REED VIDEO.

Let me summarize: Sandusky was pure evil. Paterno was a pathetic enabler. Knight was condescending and occasionally violent. For my kid I would choose "none of the above."
  18. Well that's just a bunch of silliness. TB and Happ are far, far better players than at least two or three of their "top six". Also, if Nebraska wins seven B1G games, I will be absolutely shocked.

(2017) PF Deng Gak to Miami

    Committed to Miami this morning.
  20. Well....if Purdoo is too slow, MSU has lost their two players over 6'8", and Wisky is overrated, who does that leave for the B1G's best team? I can't imagine which team that might be ;)

Every generation going back to pre-historic times thinks that "kids are soft these days." Don't believe me? I have an actual transcript of Cro-Magnum Mungf talking to his grandson, Caveman Brangh: Mungf: "Brgnngh mrgg MATDDCC nmmp Brangh klnckt!!" (translation: Brangh, you need to put down that spikeless club and beat your dead mastodon like a man.) Brangh: "Pssrrgh blrgh Grdbbc mlick oprd." (translation: Oh Grandpa, spiked clubs are sooooo mezzozoic.) So there.

    Geez I hope so.

If true, I'm pretty sure Darryl Thomas didn't come to IU expecting THAT.
