Pretty much the ultimate unstoppable force of Hoosier awesomeness, they are. I am extremely concerned for the emotional security and safety of our team, and our loved ones. They may just steal not only the ball, but also our hearts and our name by the time this game is over. Sob, shiver, weep.

That, and DeRon knows how to use it. DeRon Davis is a true old-school, back to the basket, low post big man. A rare and valuable commodity these days, and we've got him for at least a few years. Pretty soon, teams are going to start double-teaming him on the low block. DeRon also passes the ball and sees the court extremely well, and our three point shooters are going to be huge beneficiaries. And I am glad.

Semi-official good news. Go get 'em, OG!!! Hoosiers forward OG Anunoby (ankle) to return Saturday 8:56 AM ET Andy KatzESPN Senior Writer Facebook Twitter Pinterest Email print comment The Indiana Hoosiers will get OG Anunoby back Saturday for the rivalry game against Butler in Indianapolis. He missed the past three games with a left ankle sprain. Indiana coach Tom Crean said in a text Thursday that Anunoby will play, but he's not sure if he will start against the No. 18 Bulldogs (9-1). The No. 9 Hoosiers (8-1) have won the last three games against low Division I teams without Anunoby. He suffered the injury in the Hoosiers' 76-67 victory over North Carolina on Nov. 30. Anunoby, a 6-8 sophomore, is averaging 12.5 points and six rebounds a game. Butler coach Chris Holtmann told ESPN that to beat Indiana, the Bulldogs must limit the Hoosiers' clean 3-point looks, prevent the Hoosiers from driving the lane and keep the Hoosiers from dominating the backboard.

G_d bless 'em, the SEC is a sucking suckfest.
  5. Oooh... him too. No internet access in the Blackmon house either [emoji79]
  6. Well... Crean would recruit the dog sh!t out of Indiana if he was shooting for two star and low three star Indiana hs kids. It's those darn high four star and five star Indiana hs kids that seem to think they can go anywhere in the country. IT'S THE INTERWEB AND CABLE TV THAT'S BEEN THE RUIN OF US I TELLS YA!! (except of course, for Cody, Yogi, Hollowell, and Swanigan, who obviously didn't have internet access and therefore stayed in state)
  7. And...while MSB will live forever, Tim Priller may very well get his IU degree and consider moving on, freeing up a fourth spot even if one of the three draft-possibles decides to stay. Also, we haven't had a scholly player transfer in over a year, which is unusual. In any event, we are reasonably likely to have four spots available at a minimum. My biggest worry? That Zak McRoberts decides to transfer to go on full scholarship somewhere else. The way he's been playing you'd have to think there'd be significant interest. However, since his big brother makes over $22 million guaranteed for four years playing for the Heat, maybe the family will choose to suck up the $20,000 annually for IU if Zak is really feeling valued and content. I know as an IU fan, I value his contributions to the team!

    2017 IUBB recruiting

Aundre Retweeted Julius Kim @JKim97 #Indiana will be in on Saturday to see 2019 sharpshooter @aundrehyatt_15 of @MSAHoops, he tells @Phenom_Hoops. He currently has a 3.9PGA. FWIW; most places have him listed as a 2018, not 2019 recruit.
  9. And moreover, the only viable place Tucker can commit for the next day or two is Nova. The CB guys want to keep their "batting average" high, and so Meyer switched to Nova while Tucker was there in the unlikely event that he committed while on the visit. As the announcement date gets finalized and info starts to leak, CBers will switch to the most likely choice, whether it's Nova or IU.

(2018) PF Jake Forrester to IU

It would be incredibly disappointing if there was real evidence that we prioritized similar or lesser recruits from the east coast over the Midwest. It would also be disappointing if we took a player who would not be as valuable to our roster just because he was from the Midwest. It's a long-standing discussion on this board, but there's plenty of evidence that we work hard locally and regionally (Gelon, OG, Juwan, JSmith, etc), but don't pass up a good opportunity from the east. For the past few years, it seems that the most valued common denominator among our recruiting interests has been character, with high-level talent as the second highest priority. Ranking service star ratings? That is not a dis-qualifier, but also most assuredly is not a real factor.

It makes sense if he's good enough. Not trying to be a smartass; he's a 6'8" face-up wing who rebounds at a high level and is a high-character kid. We are likely going to lose OG, and so, Forrester's description fits the "we need that" bill. Is he the right guy for that slot? I have no idea, but apparently the IUBB staff has seen him in person, (I expect on multiple occasions) and thinks he might be.

A couple of points of interest: -> He is apparently about to start appearing on the high major radar: "Heading into the event this weekend, all of the talk surrounding the Westtown basketball program was about five-star big man Mo Bamba, Arizona signee Brandon Randolph, and five-star junior small forward Cameron Reddish. However, it was Jake Forrester, a 6-foot-8 forward out of central Pennsylvania, which took the floor by storm. " No surprise that there will be late arrivals to the scene. -> He is a very good student who re-classified to '18 once upon a time. I betcha betcha betcha we are looking at him for '17, not '18.
  18. Seems like a combo at 6'5", though the article says Syracuse is recruiting him as a point. The takeaways about his game seem to be bad-ass attitude, goes hard to the rim, very good vision, defends and rebounds.
