The high school coach statements are mostly hyperbole, at least to me. I feel the overriding point is that given 9 yrs with all of IUs resources, there are HS coaches that could produce similar results, and at a far cheaper price. People are just so disenfranchised right now that they may in fact be willing to take a 3-4 year risk on someone rather than watch the same show for even one more year. It's not a totally ridiculous thought. Izzo, Beilein, Roy Williams, Mark Few, and Mick Cronin all coached HS, and that's just off the top of my head. Bo Ryan was D3 coach that adapted pretty well and pretty quickly. Yes, they all had intermediate stops for experience along the way, but right now some people have seen enough of Crean that the risk/ reward has veered heavily to the risk side. Having watched the same 9 years that they have, I can't fault them for that. Not a route I'd personally choose, but it's a reality of where we are right now.

South Bend is a hard sell. Place is a dump and men's bball is the third sport there. He's matured into a pretty good coach, I'd take him over Crean in a heartbeat. But he's still a bit down on my wish list.

Fant returning is good news. Scales returning is great news. Cat will be the best defensive player we've had since Van Waiters, and Van was reallllllly good. Losing Oliver blows, but having Scales next to them will be a tremendous help for Willis and Covington. Losing Big Ralph to graduation is a bigger loss than some might think. Dude occupied a lot of space that allowed Scales and Oliver to do their thing. If the three big boys coming in on D-line can provide some quality minutes between them, defense is gonna be good. Real good.

He expends a measurable amount of effort into looking like he's trying to play defense. If he would channel half that energy into actually performing his assignment, it would be passable defense. -

Walton highlights from last night: -Walton growling like a bear and clawing at partner Dave Pasch. Pasch, "you scratched me". Walton, "Quit whining" - An in depth discussion of volcanoes - The Doors and the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. - Urging Snoop Dogg to "spark it up" when he was shown on camera. - After announcing Walton would be on the ESPNU Megacast of the Bama-Clemson, Pasch chided him wondering if they understand Walton has trouble talking about basketball, let alone football. To which Walton quickly retorted, "I completely disagree. You're just not listening, and you don't understand the seamless transition in how it all rolls into one. And I haven't even gotten to the Luskin Center,or Shep Gordon, the Supermencsch, or Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek". Priceless

I believe McBride is going to be a spring enrollee, so if we're going to poach him we better get on it. -

Paige is done. But we get Simmie and J-Shun back next year. Cobbs and Westbrook on the outside and Harris in the slot backed up by Timian. Also have Taysir Mack and Jonah Morris, both RS this year and both have size( 6'2" and 6'4").
