BtownBanners Welcomes......... Terry Hutchens
Str8Hoosiers replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I am not usually a pessimist regarding IU so this doesn't even really apply to me but I was just curious.... Having a seat at the table so to say (Press Conferences, Inside info, or whatever is included) does that in any way affect the Message Board side of the site? Like will there need to be more censorship of the overly negative people etc? -
I am in if enough people for a 2nd league... or an expansive 1st....

LeBron James not a class athlete?
Str8Hoosiers replied to FindEndNow's topic in National Basketball Association
Did you not watch Game 6 until the end? Lebron went to the Warriors bench when he was removed from the game... then after the final horn sounded the rest of the Cavs formed a line and went and shook hands with the Warriors players/staff while Lebron walked back to the locker room by himself... They may not always show it on TV but Pro Team do get in lines especially after BIG games, season ending, Series ending games.... no they don't do it after every game but they do it for specific games. Why does everybody hate the Pistons for walking off the court at the end of their reign??? Because the "Correct" thing to do in that situation is man up, shake the other teams hand, and congratulate them on their victory. And I dislike Lebron (Hate is too strong for a guy I have never personally met) and this is 1 of the reasons but it isn't the only... as others have said it is "The Decision", the self proclaimed nickname, the CONSTANT whining about every call (I know you will say all players do this but not to the level he does), it isn't just giving the ref a look, or even raising his arms like "Hello you gonna call that?", but he makes a point to keep talking to the ref well after the play is past, just move on and get back on Offense or defense or whatever. Even going back to Cleveland, proclaiming he wants to bring a championship home... but then saying it will take a few years to get the team ready for that type of success then going out and getting all the pieces (Maybe you can't put this on Lebron but I do).... If he is so great he should be able to elevate the players around him to greatness, not load up on other better than average NBA players to win a title. I don't follow the NBA much but this is just my $0.02 -
LeBron James not a class athlete?
Str8Hoosiers replied to FindEndNow's topic in National Basketball Association
This.... Why did he do this? He did it because he knew the cameras would see him do it... Why doesn't everybody shake hands before the game is over? Because that's not the way to do it, get in a line WITH your TEAM and shake the other team's hands... It is all about Lebron... But he finds a way to make it all about Lebron. -
Just missed it... What they have to say?

Historic turn around for defense?
Str8Hoosiers replied to FindEndNow's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I disagree... Having a competent big guy down low dramatically helps the perimeter defense. If you have that down low it cuts off an option.... the perimeter defense can focus on stopping the jump shots, or playing very tight defense without worrying that if his man dribbles past him it is an easy bucket... Last year the perimeter defense had to stay a step back to ensure no drive to the bucket and could easily get caught by a screen, or killed by jump shots. I agree with DJ, the competent defensive big man will have a much larger impact on overall defense than some are assuming. I think my above points along with an offseason where the guys really put some focus on their defensive ability as well as in the weight room getting stronger so they can not be pushed around and our defense EASILY jumps into the top 100.... with the way we play we are not going to be a #1 defense or even close but if we get to 100 or even 120 range we will be tough to beat (assuming the offense stays as it was or improves) -
Where will our transfers commit to?
Str8Hoosiers replied to Hutch89's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree to a point but for a guy coming in with early excited hype for NBA I would think he would have been taking classes all summer sessions since he arrived... When you factor in all the summer classes etc it isn't as hard to graduate in 3 years, and let's be honest it isn't like they are taking hard classes usually. I have no idea where he stands academically just curious as he isn't NBA ready obviously but I'm sure sitting a year at this point in his career and spending 2 more years in a college atmosphere doesn't seem best for him. -

Str8Hoosiers replied to Hutch89's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hasn't it been said he is on course to possibly graduate this summer.... meaning he could then transfer to another top school (if anybody wants him with his issues) and play immediately under the Grad transfer rules? Not having to sit a year, but then getting to showcase 1 more year before going pro (NBA is the hope, but I am sure he will play Euro ball) -
If you have never read the fine print in the Guiness Book of World Records you should.... It very clearly states that in all actuallity all Records are held by MSB and the book just notates the closest any other person has come to achienving what he can do.

I think he truly meant were... Not WE ARE.. As in they were already the favorite

MSB once flushed a condom... A few months later there were Ninja Turtles
-
Tupac was hanging with them too.

Disagree. His Senior team we were turing it around and were good but he wasn't getting much run by that point (I guess 24 minutes isn't bad but lowest of IU Career.).... Career Low numbers in EVERY category for him that year.

Sometimes stats can lie.... I love Yogi and I hope he stays... but when looking at stats from 2 differnt teams sometimes they don't tell the story. 4.1 Assists on a team when other people can create their own shots.... vs 4.9 on a team where you are the only person who can create and has a bunch of spot up shooters.... Sure 4.9 looks better but it doesn't tell the whole story... Same can be said for the VJ3 vs Yogi argument... I actully like VJ3 but if he is on a team with other options his stats are not as high as they were, he contributed a lot on a bad team compared to Yogi's contributions on a better team.

Derby Festival Classic April 11th @ 7 pm ET

Disagree. We need him down low. Post presence opens the floor better than him roaming the 3 point line... And need a rebounder for the missed jumpers -

Bryant looked good. Looked big... A couple nice blocks... Hopefully he stays down low... We have no need for him to step out beyond the three point line. -
I would bet that IU plays @ NC State.... Works out perfectly, they are due a Home game, we are due a road game. Both teams finished 7th in their respective conference this past year. Both are expected to be better next year. ** Also the alternating Home/Away is typically tried to achieve but it isn't a necessary part of the equation (Duke played at home in both 2012 & 2013) so Wisky/ND would be a great matchup but I am guessing Wisky will get UVA and Duke/Maryland will play, and ND will end up playing MSU

Any word on Bryant playing? -
Aren't the matchups predicated on the league standings from this year?

Standards to be Hired as Head Coach at Indiana
Str8Hoosiers replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Assuming you mean teach the kids to do these things? What about likeability? Is it important for the IU basketball coach to be liked? By the Players? The Media? The Fans? The Coaching Staff? The School? Other Coaches?
