I don’t think it can be underestimated how massively important this addition to the Indiana Hoosiers is. A point guard that can score at all three levels. A true leader on and off the court. First team All PAC 12 and PAC 12 freshman of the year. Three years of college eligibility remaining. A truly mature personality, who has overcome extraordinary challenges, of which basketball challenges will pale in comparison. A player whose skill and leadership will attract other outstanding players of character to Indiana. Congratulations to the staff, especially Coach Ya, who got this player to believe in the plan and his role at Indiana University. This one is a really big deal.

I'm hearing that Hickman's NIL offer was much bigger than he expected. The deal is not done yet since he is at Cincy today, but things look good.

Just wanted to add a comment on the bag dropping. Id recommend the fanbase not villainize the bag dropping from Indiana but instead be happy we can win bag drops now. its been going on for eternity in college basketball and for the most part those dropping the biggest bags are winning the most games. I can pretty much assure you if we stop dropping bags the fanbase will have a lot more to worry about than we already do. id recommend embracing it and just leaving it out of the equation. It’s been a part of high level recruiting forever and now it just expands into mid level recruiting as well. Be happy we can compete in that for now and cross your fingers the staff uses its salary cap wisely.

Probably from the fact he hadn’t play basketball for 2 years since he was battling cancer and beat that then went on to be 1st team all PAC 12 and freshman of the year. All I know is everytIme I watched them play he impressed me big time. Definitely an upgrade from what I watched at IU last year

So much arguing as we start locking players up. Personally I'm glad to be in conversations about WHICH talented player we are bringing in. Two years ago we were googling Michael Durr.

We’ve had one good guard in three years. I don’t care if we play 2 bigs if we have a couple quality guards on the floor. That changes things.

Between Edey leaving, new schools joining, and all the transfer portal turnover (especially with the Pac 12 being raided more or less) I am hopeful we see the start of a new play style trend in the B10. Conference will certainly look very different next year.

When he first entered the portal and National services and talent evaluators were doing their scouting reports most basically said this kid would have his pick at where he would go and that he could play anywhere. I’m no talent evaluator but I watch a ton of college basketball and every time I watched Washington St play I always ask myself how in the world did Washington St get a kid like this and wished a team I was invested in had a guard like him. Now I get to see how that will go next year

See this is where I have a problem. You’re over in the Fire Mike Woodson thread trying to convince every person how great we’re going to be. We are going to have to see it. I don’t care if you think you know more about offense than John Wooden. I don’t believe Mike Woodson has what it takes to win at a high level. Two kids who played in the PAC 10 transferring here isn’t changing my mind. I promise you I’ve been around this program a lot in the last 25 years. So you can tell me I don’t know basketball or I’m dumb but I’m not going to blindly follow our coach because we got a couple portal guys.

Trilly has put his prediction in for Rice to IU. The guy on the his discord earlier said that Rice was a Hoosier, also said that IU is pulling all the stops to make Ballo not take any visits after ours. With Rice already in the fold it comes down to who the staff best fits guard wise and how picky they want to be. I personally would want Carlyle to commit. He is exactly the type of guard you see on teams that are in the mix for making deep runs. The more guards you have that can score on all 3 levels the better your team will be. That leaves you need a threat that can hit from deep. You then take whichever player of Conwell or Hickman want to be a Hoosier. The portal is still adding players to it everyday so if neither of those 2 commit you go back in the portal and find a shooter but I would focus on getting Carlyle. Ballo all day everyday over Payne. Ballo is ranked the number 1 portal option by many services for a reason. Back in the day Payne advantage over him would be he has multiple years left however in todays landscape you can’t count on that happening basically every staff needs to treat every player as a 1 year player. Staffs have to recruit their whole team over every year. Miles having 3 years left is nice but you can only look at it as 1 year at a time

In theory, recruiting portal players with more than a single year of eligibility is a good thing but in the current environment every kid on your roster is technically nothing but a 1-year rental. I hate it but that's what it's become.

Getting top level players from the portal is 1 thing however turning them into a team that is actually competing for the top of the B1G is another. Ask West Virginia and Arkansas how winning the transfer portal off-season worked out for them last year

Where to start with all this nonsense.. Can’t believe people’s number 1 concern last offseason was shooting. My number 1 concern was coaching. We could have done more with the roster we had which is true for previous seasons too. On the topic of offseasons, looks like we’ve entered our most successful season of the year. Get the banners ready boys! We need many things including players and coaching who understand spacing. While that’s extremely important, we leaders on the court and sidelines badly. How many times have we led for a recruit thinking we had them in the bag only to watch them go elsewhere? Imaginary lineups are fun but maybe we sign those portal players, get them on campus, and have an off-season with much less yapping and a lot more leading to improve themselves and the team. Super happy to have TJD and JHS get drafted last season and hopefully Ware this season. I’m more concerned about how players impact IU winning games. We’re like a Cal-at-pUKe-lite getting players drafted but haven’t don’t ****-for-all to improve the IU program. BS isn’t coming to IU until we have better administrators. Not sure how this has changed over the last few years You would think with how the program directs all the trolls with burners they could do better directing what truly matters but here we are

Not sure which is a known shooter but I’ve watched a lot of Washington St games this year where Rice was on fire from 3. Also watched some games where he struggled. Didn’t watch as many Stanford games but that kid had some good games. Torched Arizona with a 6-8 performance from 3 and 28 points. However he also struggled in some games. Anyone know last time IU had a player hit 6 threes in a game. Last year hitting 6 for the whole team would of been a good week
