(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU
ALASKA HOOSIER and 3 others reacted to BGleas for a post in a topic
Yup, we need all of those things. We also need guards/wings that can play with pace and force pace when the timing is right and Galloway is arguably our best guy at that. Galloway, with his defense, ball handing and aggressiveness is probably our best player at creating easy baskets in transition, which is something IU really needs. Part of improving shooting is getting better, easier shots and Galloway helps with that with his penetration, passing and ability to push the pace. -

Watching the interview he just comes off so calm and positive regarding everything. I know from my perspective this will eventually rub off on the rest of the staff and team. Not saying it hasn't already or that they are not the same but he just has a great presence about him. And for his age he seems to be in good health with a sharpness to him. When he was hired I wasn't really sure, but I will say I am really liking the job he is doing and the direction he is taking things. -

3 pointsShaedon Sharpe with a plus 6 1/2” wingspan. That’s a long kid. Aside: Shaedon autocorrects to Shakedown. That’s the basketball gods telling you something right there.

(2023) - SF Andrej Stojakovic to Stanford

So, per NCAA rules he gets to have up to five junior year official visits by August 1st, and then gets five senior year officials starting after August 1st. He plans on using the junior year official visits for Texas, Tenn, Stan, UVA, and IU or UConn. After August 1st? His five senior year official visits will be UCLA, USC, KU, UK, and either IU or UConn. Seems clear to me that the second group is the primary commitment-likely group - it includes USC and UCLA. Therefore, I'm hoping we get a fall, not June visit. -

(2021) SG Tamar Bates to INDIANA
Crimson and Cream and 2 others reacted to Stuhoo for a post in a topic
Kenya Hunter was on the Hoosier Hysterics podcast last week and made it clear that Tamar Bates is the player that he expects to have a major jump. Also made it seem as if Tamar would be in the guard rotation. I wonder if he can start alongside X, with JHS as the primary alternate at both the one and two guard spots. That would allow for a starting lineup of TJD, Race, JG, TB, and X. Tons of length, athleticism, and better shooting. -

Without changing their schedule this year, the Pac-12 has basically eliminated the need for divisions by having the 2 teams with the highest conference winning percentage meet in the Pac-12 title game. The B1G can't follow suit (and subsequently blow up divisions) quickly enough. -

Fifth worst record in the league and they got the sixth pick. That doesn’t seem like such a tragedy. -

Coach Moren tabbed as an assistant coach for 2022 @usabasketball Women's U18 National Team. Indiana head coach has been announced as an assistant coach for the 2022 USA Basketball women's U18 national team. This will be Moren's first official stint with USA Basketball as she also served as a court coach for the U19 World Cup Team trials in May 2021. Texas A&M's Joni Taylor will serve as head coach while Old Dominion's DeLisha Milton-Jones will join Moren as an assistant. "I am honored to be a part of USA Basketball's U18 National Team," Moren said. "It will be an exciting opportunity to work alongside great coaches and the some of the best young players. I'm looking forward to representing our country through basketball." A now-biennial event launched in 1988 and open to athletes 18 years old or younger, the FIBA Americas U18 Championship features eight national teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean. The USA Basketball women claimed 10-straight gold medals from 2000-2018, as well as in 1988, and silver medals in 1992 and 1996. USA Basketball is 59-2 in FIBA Americas U18 Championship action. Trials for the 2022 team will be held May 31-June 4 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Entering her ninth season with the Hoosiers in 2022-23, Moren has guided the program to four NCAA Tournament appearances and seven consecutive 20-win seasons. IU finished the 2021-22 season by tying a program-record 24 wins and advanced to its first Big Ten Tournament championship game in 20 years. In her eight seasons, Indiana is 172-89 as she is the program's second all-time winningest coach as she has advanced to back-to-back Sweet Sixteens, an Elite Eight appearance in 2021 and a WNIT championship in 2018. All five starters garnered All-Big Ten honors in 2021-22 and junior forward Mackenzie Holmes and Grace Berger hauled in a combined four All-American honorable mention honors. In addition, Indiana was ranked as high as No. 4 in the Associated Press and No. 5 in the WBCA/USA Today coaches poll in 2021-22. -

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU
BannerVille reacted to HoosierHoopster for a post in a topic
Good writeup. If he were a pg he could get away with not developing his shot. There are a few guys out there who are so good defensively and bring that toughness and ability to score in transition and at the rim that shooting from the wing isn’t necessary to their games but they’re so much the exception. Trey helps the team despite his shooting, we’re better with him on the floor, but man if he can just develop a serviceable jumper, even a good 2-pointer, his impact would soar. -

I agree and think that whether or not TB makes the next step is one of the biggest keys to the success of next season. We really need TB and/or JG to turn into “starter minutes” type of players. If they do, with their athleticism, we are going to have a blast next season. -

Mrs. Focker, I presume? Saw a FB post from IU today about how Grace Waggoner was among the women's hoopsters who graduated this spring. Obviously, I had seen her play, so I know who she was. But when I saw her photo -- she again reminded me of someone, though I couldn't recall whom. Then, it hit me -- I think she bears a striking resemblance to Teri Polo of the "Fockers" movie series fame. -
