The most recent coaching search tells us where the brand is at now. We hired someone no other team in the conference would’ve hired, and someone we wouldn’t have hired if he didn’t play here 40 years ago. Some will cite his ‘experience,’ but it’s not like anyone in either college or the NBA was beating down his door to make him their head coach. Woody doesn’t look like the kind of coach who can win with mediocre talent. Most coaches can’t, so he’s not unique in that regard. But he’s not recruiting at a high enough level to make up for it. JHS looks nice, but Bates did too. He’s been a dud. In conference play he’s scoring 2.7 ppg on 24% from the field. Definitely not what I was expecting. JHS better be ready because the team will need him from day 1. We’re a middling team this season and have been a middling program for the past 15 years. Some will blame the fans, but the program should be happy that it still has fans at this point.

Have no idea who will be available, so had to go with a complete guess. I guessed at Xavier Johnson and Tamar Bates being in the rotation, but not Durr, Lander, or Stewart since Durr and Stewart had already had basically two suspensions and it's obvious the staff is not in love with Lander. I started the five that started last game but X, Bates, and Geronimo all getting good minutes off the bench. Sims starting shockingly well....IU winning the first three somehow. Lost the next six, won the last. MSU won 6 of the 10 sims, average score Michigan State 67.7, Indiana 63.5. Team stats: IU: 247/585 from the field (42%), 39/135 from three (29%), 102/161 free throws (63%), 344 rebounds, 157 fouls, 130 assists, 111 turnovers, 44 blocks, 55 steals. MSU: 254/572 from the field (44%), 58/170 from three (34%), 111/136 free throws (82%), 376 rebounds, 164 fouls, 137 assists, 131 turnovers, 41 blocks, 50 steals. IU stats: starters: Galloway: 28 mpg, 33/60 from the field (55%), 6/12 from three (50%), 3/7 from the line (43%), 28 rebounds, 18 fouls, 16 assists, 19 turnovers, 3 blocks, 9 steals, 7.5 ppg Leal: 19 mpg, 9/32 from the field (28%), 2/17 from three (12%), 4/4 from the line (100%), 15 rebounds, 17 fouls, 10 assists, 6 turnovers, 1 block, 7 steals, 2.4 ppg Kopp: 32 mpg, 25/73 from the field (34%), 10/41 from three (24%), 4/4 from the line (100%), 30 rebounds, 9 fouls, 13 assists, 5 turnovers, 4 blocks, 4 steals, 6.4 ppg Thompson: 32 mpg, 51/106 from the field (48%), 6/20 from three (30%), 11/19 from the line (58%), 84 rebounds, 24 fouls, 22 assists, 14 turnovers, 4 blocks, 11 steals, 11.9 ppg JacksonDavis: 33 mpg, 56/122 from the field (46%), 27/54 from the line (50%), 84 rebounds, 26 fouls, 19 assists, 23 turnovers, 20 blocks, 11 steals, 13.9 ppg Bench: Johnson: 24 mpg, 33/83 from the field (40%), 4/18 from three (22%), 32/38 from the line (84%), 26 rebounds, 24 fouls, 37 assists, 23 turnovers, 20 blocks, 11 steals, 10.2 ppg Geronimo: 18 mpg, 25/56 from the field (45%), 3/5 from three (60%), 7/20 from the line (35%), 64 rebounds, 24 fouls, 7 assists, 13 turnovers, 7 blocks, 1 steal, 6.0 ppg Bates: 17 mpg, 15/49 from the field (31%), 8/22 from three (36%), 12/13 from the line (92%), 10 rebounds, 15 fouls, 6 assists, 6 turnovers, 1 block, 3 steals, 5.0 ppg Duncomb: 2 games, 6 mpg, 0/4 from the field, 2/2 from the line (100%), 3 rebounds, 1 turnover, 1 block, 1 steal, 1.0 ppg Childress: 2 games, 2 mpg, 1 turnover.

“Idiot fans”……….Social media isn’t good for mental health. Most shouldn’t bother. And there is a strong contingent that truly believes our fanbase is our problem and love to propagate those beliefs. Darn passionate fans that take sports too seriously. We may as well be the scapegoats. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Don't forget Woodson was in the same spot years ago when he played. He'll be able to talk sense to these guys, having been there, done that. Obviously not knowing the extent of the conduct, hopefully it will be water over the damn and lets go and win out gentlemen.

Someone said didn’t we win 4 out of 5 after that game and I listed the games. Glad to know every win we have shouldn’t count and each loss should count double!

I had a 6 am, 5 days a week. Was in the top 3 of my major, drank and smoke until way to late most every night. Missed one class in two years. If you own your future, you don't let people down, especially yourself. It defines your future or limits your options.

I'd like to get an as comprehensive as possible definition of blue blood from the college basketball world. I believe we're still a blue blood. I don't believe we're anywhere close to being an elite program. The other blue bloods are still at that elite status. We'll eventually get back there.

IU fans are mild, imho. We’ve made 4 tournaments in the past 13 years. Conference record over .500 three times in the past 13 years. Two sweet 16s. Zero elite 8s. How do Kentucky fans handle that? How do Duke fans? Kansas? UNC? We all know the answer. No blueblood program would put up with what we’ve put up with for more than a decade. We pride ourselves on “doing things the right way,” but there’s little honor in losing. Our team’s at home watching most years while the big boys flip the NCAA the finger and reap the rewards.

It's just kind of on while trying to get some other things done. I'm shocked two of the bottom teams in the Big 1.o produce bad basketball, it's not pretty at the top!

Great start and after 1Q leading 28-8. Gulbe 9p and Patberg 9p; team shooting 67% from the field. Dominating the boards 13-3.

I am rooting for them all. Not just because it helps the team I love, but if they respond the way they should they will all be MUCH better for it. But yes, I find myself really rooting for X because I can see he really wants to win each time he steps on the floor.

I think I've been saying it since early in the season. E and e should not be an option at Indiana. It should be a standard that is met or it is not met. Simple. It is far easier to be tough and back off a little than it is to go easy and try to step it up. That was true thousands of years ago and is the same today. This has been a mystery for our program for some time. Look back at some of the articles, we seemed to be landing some transfers we really wanted. I don't think landing Bates was luck I think it was relationships. I don't understand this line of thinking. If you could help me with it I would be appreciative. Some of the people I like the most are the ones I'm most critical of. Why? Because I know they are capable of more. Woody has played and coached a lot of basketball. He knows what good basketball looks like. Can he get the program where he envisions before he steps aside? We'll see. I like that we've mostly cleaned up the turnovers that were a major issue earlier in the season. We still have lapses at times, could that be related to decisions made off the court? Our FTs are still baffling. What's the issue? Is that still something we're blaming Arch for? Our outside shooting in percentages and volume is still an issue. We've had a few games where we shot for quantity and quality but they're few and far between. We're in 2022 we need to be really good at that. We have rebounding issues we really haven't addressed. We over help on defense that have left shooters WIDE OPEN far too often. The players most guilty of it are also the ones who struggle to defend 1v1 and are slow to get back out to the shooter.

I know this should probably go in the game thread, but didn't want to go there. I am fine withe loss last night. Based on how close the game was, I believe we would have won, if 5 players would have followed the rules. I agree with CJ's mom Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Being old school (and just old as well) I really appreciate Woody's decision. Actions have consequences in life, not just basketball. What really got my attention was Woody's presser at the end when he said that if guys don't want to be proud of the uniform and the school on, and off, the court then they "need to go". I don't think Woody is messing around, and playing head games. I think he's brutally honest and communicates his expectations. So proud of the guys who played their butts off. Hope Woody makes the "Fab 5" earn their way back to the rotation, and starting positions are not automatically given.
