I love that IU is running with this. For decades we've had people complain about any changes that we've made. Scrolling advertising courtside? Horrendous! A Big Ten logo on the court? Blasphemy. Updating uniforms? The horror! I'm shocked that we're doing this and absolutely happy. This will help push us to the front rather than keep us back to please the blue hairs. IU athletics to the moon baby!

I don't know that talking to your teammates on twitter really counts as leadership. That said, other posters have said that he's been vocal in practice and is showing a lot of leadership there. Part of the problem the last few years was a lack of leadership, both on the coaching staff and on the team. So it had to come in from somewhere because it looked unlikely that any of the returning players would step into that role since the one who appeared to be the mostly likely player to step up, Franklin, transferred out.

Ohh.. idk. I get your overall point, but TJD isn't a big "leader"... love him, great person, awesome basketball player, but I don't know if he is going to hold others accountable. "Leading by example" is simply doing your job. These guys spend essentially every waking second together, leaders emerge in those off season workouts. Transfer or not, I believe, that isn't a huge factor in who is our "vocal" guy. Hope all is well brother.

I fully expect him to stay in the draft anyway. I think this is just a contingency plan in case he gets some sour feedback from GMs

Glad someone on the team has said this. I'm happy that I see a strong, vocal leader in Xavier and coach Hunter brought him in. But at the same time, I feel a little bit disappointed that the person had to be a transfer student, not one of the returning players. It's not easy for a transfer student to take over the leadership role, which really shows Xavier's character.

Some notes from practice from a friend who was able to be present for a couple of them: 1: Practices are much faster than with Archie. Don’t think that was very hard to do. It’s an all-out run for much of scrimmage. NBA-style. 2. Woodson is bodying up players and shooting during practice. Archie very rarely did this. Crean never did. 3. Woodson talks in third person even in practice. 4. Coaches have a much looser relationship with players. Cursing the same amount… but laughing about it together after. He demands attention from players much more than Archie did. 5. Miller Kopp is “Zach McRoberts who can actually shoot very well”. 6. Tamar Bates may not be as ready as early as some hope. Still early though with time to grow. 7. End of bench looks to be Leal, Galloway, Duncomb right now. 8. Xavier Johnson is THAT dude. Impressive and determined. That’s all I got although I’m sitting on a bit of info that I’m not able to share yet regarding staffing. Would be insanely cool if it came to fruition.

I’m not a CP3 fan by any means but it is satisfying to see him and the suns in the finals. They’ve done an incredible job of turning that franchise around the last 2 years. Word is out of workouts is that Stewart is the best shooter on the team and it’s not even close. This was my assumption when he committed and now he’s showing it in organized activities.
