Don't see this 30 minute interview with Xavier on the board. Warning--the interviewer is pretty young and a bit awkward at times, but there's lots of time for Xavier to explain his story. Quick takeaways: He seems older than other players; he's a man not a kid. His final decision for the portal transfer came down to us and Baylor. He fits that Baylor national championship team mold--he's gonna play with serious edge. Opponents will HATE him... and that's a good thing. Late in the interview he's asked what his three personal goals are for the season. He pretty quickly comes up with two: Win the National Championship and win the B1G title. He then takes a long time to come up with a third--be an All-B1G player. Team goals are his focus.

I read a lot for work, so when I read on my own, it's almost always fiction -- because I want to be entertained. But I strayed a bit with my last book -- and I'm glad I did. I minored in history at IU and had a prof who was a huge Truman fan. That rubbed off on me a bit, because I've always found him a fascinating person -- basically went from being a nobody to being president in a matter of 20 or so years. Anyway, my latest read was "The Accidental President." Pretty interesting stuff. One thing I found somewhat compelling: We bombed Hiroshima. Then Russia declared war on Japan. Then we bombed Nagasaki. Then Japan surrendered. All about a week's time. After the surrender, Russia was like, "Ok guys, how are we gonna divvy up Japan?" ... They had been in that part of the war for about a half-hour!

Considering PU fans' go-to insult for us always has some reference to a trailer park, I would love to see Duncomb dominate Caleb Furst with the mullet in full effect. It would be the definition of poetic justice.

Totally random story here....I was talking to a good buddy of mine who is a Vandy grad. I brought up the 2013 regionals where we would have hosted Vandy in the super regionals in Bloomington if not for the bottom of the 9th walk off homerun by Stanford b/c that still bugs me (PUT IN DENATO TO PITCH TO THE LEFTY!!). Anyway, I just discovered today that the guy who hit the walk-off was none other than the guy who has become my favorite player on the Cardinals, Tommy freaking Edman. I'm distraught. I can't believe this. I just don't understand how my man Tommy Eds could have done this to me.

I particularly liked this at the end: Coming from the NBA, Mike Woodson knows how to get someone to play at the highest level and knows the type of development needed. He also knows that Johnson has a lot of the tools necessary to help IU get to the next level. It's not a manager's job, it's not a GA's job, it's me and my coaching staff's job to get them to develop," Woodson said. "I've always done it that way. I've always liked being on the floor and working with our players, that's just what I do... These guys are going to get a lot of hands on from coach Woodson.

"I plan to go to all of (the summer sessions) because I want to get to know my teammates and just get to work," Johnson said. I think we’re going to like him.

No wrong answer here. People can look at his numbers and have concerns about certain parts of his game and others can look at his numbers and feel he is an upgrade from what was here before. Always hard to see how other players will do when they go to a different team. All you can do is hope it works out for the better. If you would of told me McClung would of became they defensive player he became and more efficient on offense at Texas Tech then he did at Georgetown I would of laughed at you. He proved me wrong and became a heck of a team player at Tech. I’m not sure how it will work out for Johnson but 2 final 4 teams this year wanted him and he put the rest of his career in the hands of a 12-15 team with a new coach. Adding a player with over 50 ACC games and a 1000 point scorer has to be a plus in my opinion but I have 0 problem with people who have concerns with adding him.
