I suppose we can make excuses ad nauseam. Or we could develop a plan with players that WANT to play and staff that WANT to work and get to business like most of the rest of the world. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

I was living at the fraternity house at ISU when some others came in the room to wake me up and tell me hwhat was going on. Now we did a little drinking the night before so I was confused and hung over at what was really going on at first. We just sat there and watched the news in shock when one of my brothers looked at me and asked where did Mikes (fraternity brother) from New Jersey dad work at back home. My heart dropped when we realized he worked at the world trade centers. We tried to get ahold of mike but I knew he had drink a lot the night before so we got in the car and drove over to his house. He was still sleeping when we arrived. I Spent the whole day with him trying to get ahold of his mom or somebody to tell him what was going on with his dad. No worse feeling then not knowing what’s going on with one of your friends parents and there is nothing you can do about it. Finally his mom got through because the phones were down over there for a while and got to tell Mike that his dad made it out alive. Luckily his office was under where the plane hit. A personal story on how those events effected lives in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Wow. Not only are we not on the same page, we aren’t in the same library. NHL is doing just fine without a bubble. High School football with next to zero funding is doing great. MLB, after a few hiccups (which included positive tests, but no real damage) is surprisingly doing well. The B1G was fear mongered by potential legal ramifications to shut things down based on completely falsified complications of Covid. They still haven’t answered to what made them make the decision besides that terrible myocarditis study. You’ve got your mind made up and so do I, so I’m not sure why I even bother. Was in class in Bloomington with several native New York students. It was devastating watching these kids learn about what happened and wondering if their families were ok. Not very many had cell phones back then, news and correspondence traveled much, much more slowly. I think the LEO mantra grew stronger than ever across America after these events. If the season doesn’t start by November, then the season’s not happening at all. Zero chance they start after 2020, especially in January. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yeah, I’m largely with Wayne in this one. Set up the proper protocols and if a kid breaks them they are out of the equation for the season. One or two screw ups per team isn’t going to create a pandemic spreader cell. That would be a far bigger issue. There’s always going to be that small percentage that screws up. Account for that and keep standards in place to deal with them.

Not sure we needed an Entomologist. 🤣[emoji6] If Archie, a great shooter can’t help with that, then they need >>>>>>>>>> more reps and better talent. He was a guard, but it appears he’s willing to work with bigs or guards. Archie has coached 2 of the worst shooting teams in Indiana history. That needs fixed yesterday. On the 19th Anniversary of 9/11

I skipped my classes that day (before knowing what was about to happen) and remember watching the 2nd plane hit. There was a period of time from then on that I felt as if our great nation was unanimously united. It was a cool feeling that came from a terrible situation. Unfortunately that's the kind of thing it takes in modern America. It's certainly one of those "you'll always remember where you were and what you were doing" moments. Absolutely tragic. Was in the 9th grade. We heard about the first plane but went about our day in gym class. Later we heard about the second and realized. We spent the rest of the school day Reporting to our respective classes then the teachers were working together to get us all in rooms with TVs. One teacher was a pissant that tried to teach that day and one kid in our class stormed out to find a TV. It gave us all the courage to follow. Guy I sat next to in biology was a senior who iirc had already enlisted.

I told the wife that night to prepare for my Guard Unit to be deployed. 2 months later we received the order and left the day after New Years. The first deployment was to Europe. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

I was whisked away a couple of weeks later from SEP 11, 2001~ enroute to from beautiful Bloomington (while my wife stayed home taking classes) landing in a nice little place to hand out some retribution. crazy times! There was actually an article in the Indiana Daily Student about her having to spend Valentine's day without me while i'm deployed.

I was with a very special group of people who worked very hard to figure out what happened, who did it, and how to prevent it from happening again. It was an extraordinary situation, a great tragedy, and an honor to work on.

AJ Casey transfers to Young The talented 6-8 forward who began his career at Simeon and played his sophomore season at Tinley Park is headed back to the Public League. The state’s top-ranked prospect in the junior class, AJ Casey, is on the move. The talented 6-8 forward who began his career at Simeon and played his sophomore season at Tinley Park is headed back to the Public League. Casey will attend Young this year. Casey is among the top 20 prospects in the country in the Class of 2022. Casey says his family has had its eye on moving to Chicago and finding the right school balance. “We have actually been looking to move and have been looking for a house in the city for awhile,” said Casey. “We found a house and started thinking about schools and what would be best for me.” Casey says there was some consideration given to attending a prep school for his final two years. His mom, however, wasn’t on board with that. “My mom really wanted me to stay here and not go the prep school route,” said Casey. “So we wanted to find the best possible school here. Young is one of the best academic schools in the city and state. I’ve been an honor roll student so when looking at the academic side of things, I wanted to challenge myself even more.” While it will be his third school in three years, Casey says he is excited about the opportunity at Young –– academically, culturally, socially and athletically. “Young has so much of everything,” said Casey. “I have always done what I’m supposed to do in school. I make friends pretty easily and get along with people well.” Casey is familiar with playing for a powerhouse basketball program. He played a small role as a freshman at Simeon, where he provided a put back basket at the buzzer to beat Brother Rice in overtime to win a Class 4A regional title. He finished with eight points and 11 rebounds in that regional title game. He now joins another basketball power program at Young. While youthful and somewhat inexperienced, the Dolphins are expected to be among the top five teams in the state next season with Casey and the return of super sophomore guard Dalen Davis and promising 6-7 junior Xavier Amos. A long, multi-faceted forward, Casey broke through with a monster sophomore campaign. He put up some whopping numbers, averaging 22 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.1 blocks at Tinley Park this past season. As one of the elite players in the country, Casey has also been a part of USA Basketball and is national recruit. With a bevy of high-major offers, Casey will have his pick of big-time college programs to choose from. While he says he’s not close to making a decision, he says there are a few schools that have stood out in terms of recruiting him the hardest at this point. “Michigan, Iowa State, Purdue, Illinois, Ohio State, DePaul and Gonzaga to name a few,” said Casey when asked what schools have been the most involved. “I’m still a long way from making any decision.”

You act as if they didn’t try. The big ten basically just admitted that they couldn’t come up with plan. And you refuse to admit they even tried. Just because other leagues are playing doesn’t mean they are prepared and being responsible. One screw up can infect multiple people. It doesn’t need to be a super spreader to take out a team. And that doesn’t really cover: the logistics of keeping kids on lockdown between testing and game day. Testing and keeping all the support personnel on lockdown. They can just as easily infect the players post test How do you handle game cancellations? Was Ohio State going to be ok with Losing a title because they played one less game than another team? There’s tons of stuff to work out just because other organizations decided to proceed without a plan doesn’t mean that the Big Ten doesn’t want it enough or didn’t try. I don’t even follow college football all that much and I know there have been a couple major cancellations seems like their “plans” were up to the challenge of a pandemic This time last year nobody would have batted an eye if you accused the big ten of only caring about money. Now they are doing something without money as the motivator and people are up in arms about it. Their failure to prep a bubble for basketball is just a glaring display of incompetence. The NBA handed them a working blue print months ago.

The school I teach at has a former IU player (and NFL player) as our head coach and another former IU player and not-that-long-ago graduate as our receivers coach. The word they are hearing is the Big Ten season most likely will have a January start.

This isn't about a series. Every year on 9-11, I watch the History Channel documentary, 102 minutes that changed America. It is a minute by minute account of the tragedy from the times the planes hit until they came down. The footage comes from a variety of sources including homemade video footage. There are other documentaries about 9-11, but this is by for my favorite. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
