    Coronavirus and Its Impact

I generally hate this thread. But today is popcorn worthy, keep 'em coming guys!

Cuomo is in a room full of people wearing masks. He doesn't have one anywhere in sight. It seems very unlikely that he'd 'forget' in that situation. Covid doesn't care if someone is choosing not to wear a mask or just forgot to wear one. It does its thing either way. He's around hugging up on people while maskless. If he is asymptomatic he just put everyone in that room at risk. Your talks of "nuance" and "people make mistakes" didn't start until the maskless people changed from "people who think it infringes their freedoms" to well-regarded government officials. I wonder why...

A week ago you were saying that by not wearing a mask or social distancing, someone is saying "it's my time to kill." Now that Fauci is shown not wearing a mask or social distancing, he's "just human" and "made a mistake." And hey, I agree that people make maktakes. Masks suck. They are uncomfortable. Sometimes you take a break from it for a bit. Sometimes you forget your mask. But when you're a high-ranking official who has been on people about masks for months, it's a bad look when you're caught slipping.

This was from a few days ago in Georgia (sorry for the Twitter commentary, couldnt find the video without it). I don't know how tight this indoor space was, but he's way closer than 6'. I honestly don't know what he was thinking. I'm not a big mask guy and I'm not worried about getting the virus, but I still wouldn't want to be hugging all up on people I don't really know right now.

So they overturned 14 randomized, controlled studies with one that "suggests" the opposite? Call it what you want. Now you are suggesting that it is ok for the experts to lie, but we should believe them because they are experts.

Yesterday was Dr. Fauci's time to kill, apparently. Andrew Cuomo's too.(though he got a head start with his nursing home policies)

The other countries don’t have the political contortion we are dealing with. You believe everything you read and hear. I don’t operate that way. That’s why we will never agree. And that’s ok. That used to be why America was SO good. We are losing the ability to have differing opinions everyday.

No you aren't. You are creating a strawman argument to detract from the actual discussion of whether you should do something in public with people you don't know to slow the spread. The better way to not spread it within the house would be to make sure you do everything you can to not catch it outside of the house. If you want to wear a mask inside, I don't really care, just so long as you do when you are supposed to outside of the house. You may want to let your neighbor who mows with a mask on know so they can sigh in relief that you approve of excessive mask wearing now. *I would add that we are asking for common sense too. An airborne disease that resides in the lunges that 40% of those infected are asymptomatic but can still act as a carrier - it makes sense to wear a face mask and the literature supports that common sense.

Exactly. It’s not a big deal to wear a mask. My toddler that won’t eat a hot dog if it’s backwards in the bun will wear a mask now

I wear a mask whenever I go to the store, post office, etc. It's not a big deal and didn't feel like I lost any freedoms as I've heard some claim, maybe look a little silly but if it could help save someone's life that's nothing. We all have a role in this, anything we do as individuals to slow the spread helps to prevent another person from catching and possibly dying from this.

This test has been around for decades. I know it's not intended to be used for diagnosing anything, but how long does it take? This doesn't make you wonder at all why they have chosen this test as the standard?

I understand you keep going back to Dr Fauci from 60 minutes. I have posted the transcripts from that interview. Please read the whole transcripts. He openly stated his main concern was for the healthcare providers running out of PPE. At that time he also stated all Covid strains were not transmitted through asymptomatic people. They learned that wasn’t the case a couple of months later. The rest of what you said I 100% agree with. I feel people need to be educated more, but it’s a two way street. In your response you are hung up on something he said in February. In my other response it was because of something said in May. This is end of July. We have to trust they are learning more on a regular basis, and hope the people in charge have our best interests in mind. Believe me, I understand the skepticism, but we are all getting hung up on the things that are so beyond unimportant. I hope we all move past trying to one up everyone and try to do our part to be a part of the solution. I am a greedy grumpy bastard. I want my sports. If the best possible way to get there is through avoiding being in tight and confined spaces, wearing a mask when I can’t avoid people, and washing my hands regularly I am all for it. I don’t know how many more seasons of Outdaughtered or any other DIY shows my wife watches I can take.

I couldn't care less about FDA approval. I do, however, care that they have not bothered to validate the test. Seriously, how can any educated person put any faith in a test that hasn't been validated? You seriously don't think the possibility exists that asymptomatic positives could truly be false positives? What good is it to use a test that gives you results that you can't quantify?

I said nothing about partisan bias or political parties. Watch what these 'leaders' do when they think the cameras are off and you find out what they really think. Fauci, Cuomo, Holcomb. LA's mayor was maskless in the middle of a protest. NYC's mayor was shouting while maskless at a protest. Either they think masks aren't as effective as they tell us commoners that they are, or they do think they're effective but choose not to live by the same rules they're telling us to live by.

Their roster is loaded with underclassmen guards. But it’s kind of the same situation as IU in that none of them are good enough to threaten a kid like Mohammed. He’s gonna go where he wants and he’s gonna play. Aside: if you want to see the textbook definition of a stolen kid, watch Kobe Clark for Georgetown. 6’7” wing from St Louis. Played on a loaded team and flew under the radar. Georgetown got in before he blew up. He’s really, really good.

FWIW, not that he needs me to defend him, but I never saw where WayneFleek stated that he thinks masks are unhelpful.

You don’t have the right to tell me where I get my information, nor do I for you. I educate myself constantly. I talk to doctors in real life. I am not a social media troll, or a Qanon. I have reasons not to trust the media. It’s sad but it’s true. I don’t trust politics in large part, in general. I don’t trust many of those with tremendous power and money. Going to the beach now, will talk later.

Yeah, right. German culture is VERY different than American culture. If government tried a few hundred dollar fine for not wearing a mask there would be complete bedlam-anarchy-trainwreck-craziness.

Yeah, I seem to recall Sam Story had a “source” who insinuated that Mohammed was at Greenwood, a school with a 100% college placement record, for questionable reasons. And we all know how sketchy Amaker’s been at Harvard, right?

Finshed 2 more by David Baldacci. Redemption featuring memory man, Amos Decker. Interesting and enjoyable story line. A Minute To Midnight the second in his FBI agent Atlee Pine series. Her quest to discover what happened to her twin sister leads her to Andersonville, GA where she gets involved in helping solve a serial killer case. Really suggest reading the first Atlee Pine novel, Long Road To Mercy so you'll have the background story on her twin sister before reading A Minute To Midnight.. Recommend both.
