Don't have an issue with his comments if they are becuase of Nojel. If he is insinuating that Haarms, who got a degree and played his heart out for you, is somehow not a "Boilermaker" because he elected to take advantage of the graduate transfer rule (something that Purdue has used to its advantage many times) and explore opportunities elsewhere, that makes him look like a hypocrite and a jackass.

Hot take: Next year's Purdue team is a Trevion Williams sprained ankle away from being Nebraska.

Thanks! I'm sure Painter's response would be almost exactly along those lines and the frustration would be understandable to a point. The problem is a coach can't have it both ways publicly, either he is disappointed and leaves it at that or it is a frustration removed in which case he doesn't say anything. Painter's comments would be much more understandable and even laudable if Eastern were the first player to leave this year instead of the most recent of several. Also, it would help if Painter hadn't used a similar deflection a few years ago when he talked about getting back to recruiting "Purdue type players" to excuse a poor season.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

You know what's selfless? Thinking about how your actions impact others. You can have this virus and not show symptoms but still be highly contagious and spreading it to others who may not survive. Staying at home when experts tell you to stay the **** at home isn't being a burden to society, it's looking out for others. People complaining because they can't go to the gym or the beach or get their haircut or whatever aren't being selfless, they're being selfish. I've got a friend that's a hairdresser, her daughter has asthma and would be high risk if she caught this. Everyone that goes to get their hair done poses a risk to her daughter, because of how viruses spread. If Karen (not naming someone in particular, just pulling a name used in memes lately) staying home means her daughter or someone else's daughter/son/parent/grandparent is at less risk, well Karen's hair can wait.

This is true. When you live in countries that values others lives just as much as theirs the difference becomes that much more incredible. Freedom and **** though! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Painter’s going to mess around and make me like him. Good for him going off like that. If that hurts a kid’s feelings or a HS/AAU coach’s feelings, that’s probably not the type of kid he wants to be associated with anyway. Coaches give a lot less of a crap what people think about them than many lead themselves to believe.

I think so too. I didn't hear anything I disagreed with (other than him saying "I like the Purdue players"!) There are several coaches I detest, Painter isn't one of them. I think he runs a clean program and teaches a good brand of basketball. I enjoy watching his team fail, but I think he's a decent human being. Lots of P5 coaches don't qualify for that, IMO.

C'mon, do you really think people are protesting over face masks? Blows my mind that people think it is selfless to worry about what everyone else is doing. We have been fed this idea that if I get the virus, it's someone else's fault. Viruses have been around for a long time - take responsibility for yourself and do what you think is necessary to be safe. It is selfless to take care of yourself so that you are not a burden to society. Sure, I totally get that in some cases it can't be helped, but why does everyone have to give up their livelihood because some are compromised (many from choosing self-sabotaging habits like smoking, over-eating unhealthy foods, and inactivity)? Those compromised need to quarantine or otherwise protect themselves. I mean, how screwed up are we when we claim to be worried about everyone's health, but fast food restaurants are deemed essential?

I have no problem with Painter's comments. These were two seniors that left the program after it had invested so much time in them. NOW I don't fault Nojel or Haarms for wanting to leave either, that is their decision and if it is what is best for them I can't judge that. What is funny though is I know if this were Archie making these comments, those supporting Painter right now would be all over Archie. And don't give me the crap that Painter has somehow earned it, he has been to 1 elite 8 in like 15 years. Either way, I can't wait to watch Purdue have to rely on Trevion Williams for 30+ minutes/night.

Here’s my thing judging by Nojels mom on their board. There’s no way he went to Purdue without being sold on fitting the offensive system. He clearly doesn’t fit. So either A) Don’t mistakenly recruit kids bad for your system. The don’t get pissy when they leave B) Don’t sell a kid load of **** then get pissy when they leave

I could care less about wearing a mask. But if they work, then open up all the stores. I need some freaking underwear.

    Book Thread

Finished The Boys in the Boat by Daniel Brown. It’s about the University of Washington’s Crew team from the early 1930s. Focused mainly on one individual who had a terribly upbringing and fought through, persevered, and won at life. Well written. It ties in Nazi Germany as Berlin hosted the 1936 Olympics. It was also interesting to read how much impact rowing had on a mainstream level. Just a wonderful story.

    Coronavirus and Its Impact

All the data I have seen says the opposite. I have seen several surgeons and virologists who have said the virus is too small to be stopped by the masks and that using masks in this way is totally not what they were designed for. I have read many who say the masks are actually making your immune system worse. The problem with this whole thing is that you can find information to justify whatever you want, so there really is not common enemy. We are dealing with a virus that has a 99.8% survival rate. It effects people who mainly have other conditions, just like the seasonal flu. Some people, who have strong immune systems, barely know they have it. The only consistent message is fear, fear ,fear. But, if the masks are effective, by all means, the individual should decide that they are worried about it and wear theirs and not worry about the people who are not wearing them. This whole thing has been about taking power away from the individual. Most of the people who are not wearing masks are not concerned about the mask, they are concerned about what loss of freedom comes next.

We were shut in for about 2 months while the in-laws stayed here and were unable to shop. We had so many people proactively reach out and shop for us, call us if they found charmin, and just really go out of there way to make sure we were covered. It was so cool to see and receive this help from so many. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    IU Football Off-Season

I remember that 1986 OSU game. It was my "second" senior year and I had two OSU buddies in town. They were not happy that we almost beat them. Pete was a hell of a kicker. That spring we won the title in New Orleans. What a road trip that was.
