IUWBB AP/Coaches Poll

Recommended Posts

I have to admit, when Teri Moren first came aboard, I did not like the hire. I was adamantly opposed to hiring another Purdue grad. But I think we got the best person we possibly could have. Hope she and the ladies see continued success.

Perfectly said by her and you.

AP Top 25

Indiana Women's Basketball has secured its highest ever preseason ranking as it checked in at No. 16 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 on Tuesday.

The Hoosiers are ranked in the preseason for the third time in program history, last appearing at No. 24 in 2019-20 and at No. 23 in 2016-17. The Hoosiers spent all 20 weeks ranked in last season's AP Top 25 poll and finished No. 20 in the final rankings.

IU is coming off its most successful season in program history where it finished with a program-record 24 wins, a program-record with 13 Big Ten wins and advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament before the season came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. They return four starters from last year's campaign highlighted by guards Ali Patberg (15.6 ppg.) and Grace Berger (13.1 ppg.). Guard Jaelynn Penn and forward Aleksa Gulbe are back this season as well as All-Big Ten Freshman team honoree forward Mackenzie Holmes.

Head Coach Teri Moren, a Seymour, Ind. native, is in her seventh season at the helm of the program and holds a record of 124-74 leading the Cream and Crimson.

The 2020-21 NCAA women's basketball season is slated to begin on November 25 with the Hoosiers still working out details for their final schedule. More information about the season will be made available when it's ready on IUHoosiers.com.

Have yet to play a game and we moved up from 16 to 15.

Indiana Women's Basketball will begin the 2020-21 season ranked in both major polls, coming in at No. 15 in the preseason USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll on Thursday.

This marks the first time in program history the Hoosiers have started off the season ranked in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll. They earned votes in the preseason poll in 2019-20 and entered the top 25 rankings on week 2 and held a ranking for the rest of the season. Indiana earned a No. 16 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25.

Must've been those hard hitting interviews with the team from Hoosier Hysteria that prompted the polls to bump us.....

Great job ladies!!
Now, if the men can get ranked sooner rather than later we could have both basketball programs ranked and the football team ranked, at the same time.  When has that ever happened?!

Really hope to catch some of their games this season. Hate when they barely make regular BTN, don’t want to pay for BTN+ lol.

That's about right. I would love to be higher but based on watching this team they look like the 15-20 best team in the country.

IU was just handed a potential lifeline to the Big Ten Title. Maryland won again today so it looked like they had all but wrapped up the Big Ten Title with just one loss and only garbage PSU to go.

However, the Big Ten just rescheduled Maryland and Michigan on Thursday (according to both teams websites) which is absolutely a game Maryland could lose meaning IU clinches a share if they win both of their games. They would still be the 2 seed in Big Ten Tourney but would get a piece of the trophy. Furthermore game is in Ann Arbor where Wolverines have not lost this year.

Would still favor Maryland as they are a cut above everyone, but if anyone can beat Maryland it's Michigan (or maybe IU or Rutgers in Big Ten Tourney).
