A quick turnaround leads Indiana to South Florida for a three-game set against Florida Atlantic Feb. 24-26, before the Hoosiers have their first midweek game at Cincinnati on March 1. Indiana then travels to Birmingham, Ala., for three games against Samford March 3-5, before a road trip at Evansville on March 7.

Indiana's home slate begins with three games against Middle Tennessee March 10-12. The Hoosiers will spend Spring Break in Honolulu with a four-game series at Hawaii between March 15-18. The Hoosiers' first of two six-game homestands begins on March 28 against Evansville, with Indiana State closing out the back-to-back midweek contests on March 29. Three games with Nebraska March 31-April 2 serve as Indiana's first Big Ten home series, while Ball State closes out the home tilt on April 4.

The Hoosiers will then make the short trip to Purdue for three games April 7-9. Indiana State plays host to Indiana on April 11 before Minnesota comes to town April 14-16. A midweek game against Butler on April 19 closes out the brief homestay before three games at Michigan April 21-23.

Ball State and Indiana will square off at Victory Field in Indianapolis on April 25, while a series against Maryland April 28-30 kicks off the Hoosiers' second six-game stretch from the friendly confines of Bart Kaufman Field. Xavier follows with a three-game series May 5-7, before Indiana travels to Kentucky on May 9. The home slate continues May 12-14 against Penn State before the Hoosiers play their home finale on May 16 against Louisville. The regular season concludes at Ohio State May 18-20.

assuming no cancellations, i predict 32-23 before the btt, which would be a solid season with this tough a schedule and give us a shot at the ncaat.  probably less than a fifth of the schedule is cupcakes.  the first 7 games are brutal vs zaga, duke, oregon st, fl atlantic.  they all finished top 30 in rpi last season.  then the last 4 vs louisville and an away series in columbus is a tough but great opportunity for final touches to the resume.

both iubb and iubase get to go to hawaii this year.  i doubt that hurt their recruiting.

@hittersbaseball11 already calling Stiever Friday's starter.

The Hoosiers will need to replace a good bit of pitching, including First Team All-Conference selection Kyle Hart, but Coach Lemonis' roster looks to have the talent necessary to do so. They'll be led on Friday's by sophomore righthander Jonathan Stiever, who was among the first name mentioned by scouts in the midwest coming out of fall ball, albeit only a sophomore. He worked mostly out of the 'pen in '16, posting a 2.48 ERA in 40 innings. He'll work 90-94 mph with his fastball, and the weapon pitch is his slider that will flash plus, along with highly advanced strike-throwing ability. A host of other arms will compete for time in the rotation, including sophomore Pauly Milto and juniors Brian Hobbie (the No. 1 prospect in Prospect League '16) and Brandon Kelley. The coaching staff is excited about the upsides of freshmen arms Cameron Beauchamp and Andrew Saalfrank, both of whom figure to get their feet wet in 2017.

Offensively, Indiana returns several big contributors of a year ago, including Freshman All-American Luke Miller, who should see time in several spots but is the team's best offensive prospect and can work 90-92 on the mound as well if need be. Outfielders Logan Sowers and Craig Dedelow also return as upperclassmen, giving the Hoosiers two talented, successful leaders in the outfield. Dedelow led the team in hitting in 2016 while Sowers is a legitimate pro prospect with lots of tools. Sophomore catcher Ryan Fineman also returns, and he's a very good defender who more than held his own offensively as a freshman in 2016. This roster looks to have a good balance of returning contributors offensively with lots of talent on the pitching staff, but Indiana is likely to go only as far as their overall young pitching staff will take them. They certainly have the talent to go a long ways, however.

Baseball America preview out. 10 days and a wakeup! I'm fired up.

Indiana overcame a poor start last season to make a push for the conference championship, finishing 1.5 games behind Minnesota. But it was unable to rebuild its RPI after a 3-7 start, and missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2012. The Hoosiers will have a new look to their pitching staff after losing their entire rotation and top two relievers. Indiana has the talent to make up for those losses, but will need some of its young pitchers to make the most of the opportunity. Offensively, outfielder Logan Sowers (.273/.377/.466, 8 HR) and sophomore third baseman Luke Miller (.284/.352/.368) have the potential to anchor a more experienced lineup, which may need to carry a bigger load this spring.
