Not saying he won't.. But the 247 stuff is garbage until about a day before they commit.

Like I said he may not come here, but saying he doesn't like Crean or IU rumors are getting old he has us at the top or close to it every time he interviews. Even if we finish in his top schools and miss that shows that statement to be wrong is what I was getting at. If we miss his top schools completely be my guest to tell me I was wrong, but unless something changes I'm confident w him. Platen would be a great guy next to him on the court as well. Love the possibility of the combo

I like Platek-------but then again I like all the guards we are recruiting for 2017. The offers are flying---now we need some commits.  First come first served----hope some of the Indiana hoopsters don't get left out in the cold but they know the drill----you snooze ---you could lose.

It just goes to show how much recruiting has changed.  Back in my day----if you were an Indiana kid you would jump at an IU offer. Now it seems the kids all want to be wined and dined and there is not as much in-state loyalty.  Some may say it's Crean---but I say it's the current state of the recruiting landscape. I don't blame Crean for casting a wide net to look for good players who want to be Hoosiers NOW!

That's why I don't get adding Gelon

There are soooooo many good guards in 2017. We will need to make some serious room after this year  to land some of the 2017 studs. We can't afford to miss out on all of them,  especially the Indiana boys.

Unfortunately, some will be left behind. They've had opportunities to commit but I generally agree with your sentiment there

Total role player here. Not a class defining player by any stretch.

Which is why I don't get the offer. Recruit him, sure that's fine. But why continually hand out offers when we're in better position with top notch players. Could you imagine if Platek committed? We'd have him and Durham with maybe 2 spots left. Not a good start. Just my opinion

I dunno. Those stats look really good to me:

  • 43% from 3pt,
  • Very good TO/Assist ratio.
  • Lots of steals.
  • 82% from the line
  • 4+ rpg from a guard
  • All from a high-end student with other blue blood offers.

What part of those stats are disappointing, guys?

Good stats Stuhoo.  I actually like him as a player.  He is not a Porter or Wilkes.  If he was our "Gelon" of the class we would be in a great position.

Thinking out loud.  Would we rather have Scruggs?

Platek could be our future Zeisloft, but apparently, with better natural defensive ability.

Scruggs is so very different as a player that it's hard to compareor think of it as an either/or. In other words, it depends who else we have coming in.

As of now with Al Durham, I'd rather have Platek; Durham is more of a strength/athlete and less of a shooter. In other words, Durham's skills replicate Scruggs a little more, though albeit at the point instead of the 2/3.

There's gonna be room for both though. A class of 4 or 5 recruits seems very likely.

Platek over Scruggs? I hope I just read that wrong. Scruggs is a 5 star talent and potentially McDonald's All American and even better from Indiana!! Wilkes or Scruggs are 1A and 1B for me no matter what!! Platek may very well be great and he looks to be a very solid shooter with potential. I see him as a less athletic Bryce Alford. That doesn't mean I'd take him over Scruggs though.
