Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?

Report: Rick Pitino Interested in the UNLV Coaching Job .

STORY

"It might be fantasy, but now is the time for that. This is the beginning stage of a search for the next UNLV basketball coach, a search expected to extend at least two more months, and the right answer when it ends could be Rick Pitino.

Many observers will immediately dismiss the idea as laughable and unrealistic. But there are some reasons to entertain the possibility.

First and foremost, a source with connections to Pitino insists he is interested in the job, 15 years after his brief flirtation with Las Vegas. He went to Louisville in March 2001 and has not looked back — until now."

"Still, Pitino has several influential friends in Las Vegas, and if the most powerful boosters are serious about returning the program to the big time, it's time for the deepest-pocketed boosters and some of the university's clumsy administrators to lose a small-time mentality and shoot for a major star."

Even if the cost is around $4 million per year?

"If Pitino is interested, the money would be there," a source close to UNLV said Friday."

No way RICK PITINO will be the next coach of UNLV / I have a better chance of  being a sex sympol in Hollywood!

Probably just wild rumors, but given the investigation who knows.

Sources: U of L imposing postseason hoops ban

The University of Louisville plans to announce on Friday a self-imposed postseason ban on its men’s basketball team for the 2015-16 campaign, multiple sources told The Courier-Journal.

The school informed the team’s players in a meeting early Friday afternoon, a source close to the program said, and will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. to announce the decision.

The coaches told the players they only had nine games left, another source said, which is the remainder of the regular season.

The decision comes as the NCAA continues to investigate a woman’s claims that she and other escorts were paid thousands of dollars and given game tickets in exchange for dancing for and having sex with U of L basketball players and recruits from 2010-14.

It is a significant blow to coach Rick Pitino and his current team, which has an 18-4 record and is in second place in the competitive Atlantic Coast Conference.

Louisville, ranked 19th in the latest AP poll, had high hopes for deep runs in the ACC and NCAA tournaments, and has a team built around two graduate transfers, Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, who came to U of L to play their final college season and pursue their first NCAA tournament bid.

Vegas really offers everything Pitino could want:

1) Plenty of Italian restaurants filled with loose women.

2) An inordinate number of strippers and working girls.

3) A place where the white suit is absolutely acceptable fashion.
