IUTF Keeps Pace on Final Day of Gladstein Invitational

 Indiana Track & Field concluded hosting the final day of competition at the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Hoosiers won another 11 events to close out the weekend.
 
Megan Grabowski returned to the oval for the 200m. In the fast section, the senior raced to a time of 24.33 to win the event.
 
The Hoosiers went 1-3-4-5 on the women's side of the 600m. Kelly Mindak won her first event of the season as she crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:35.68. Lauren Thomas had a solid day as she placed third and clocked a time of 1:40.56. De'Aira Robertson competed in her second event of the weekend and finished fourth in a time of 1:42.23. Rounding out the field, Beth Barnes placed fifth and secured a time of 1:42.99.
 
In the men's race, Cooper Williams and Adam Wallace placed first and second, respectively. Williams nabbed a race-leading time of 1:16.97 while Wallace followed with a time of 1:18.35.
 
Mallory Mulzer led Indiana in the fast section of the 600m with a time of 1:32.94 to place second. Joely Pinkston grabbed third while grabbing a time of 1:33.76. Elizabeth Stanhope rounded out the trio of Hoosiers, placing fourth in a time of 1:34.20.
 
Jenna Barker recorded a new personal best in the 800m after clocking a time of 2:09.70. Her time was good enough for second place.
 
Matthew Schadler ran a time of 1:50.27 in e men's 800m fast section and placed fourth overall.

Indiana saw success in all four relays on Saturday afternoon. In the women's 4x800-meter relay, Skylar Stidam, Arjun Jha, Kyle Mau, and Dustin Horter raced to a time of 7:33.13 to garner first place. Jake Gebhardt, Aaron Bennett, Teddy Browning, and Schadler were runners-up with a time of 7:36.27. On the women's side, Mindak, Barker, Grace Walther, and Bailey Hertenstein also came up victorious and notched a time of 9:02.16.
 
Shaton Vaughn, Williams, Dushawn Tunstall, and Jalen Royal combined for a time of 3:12.89 to win the 4x400-meter relay. Zubin Muncherji, Wallace, Isaiah Ware, and Micah Camble were runners-up and crossed in a time of 3:18.67. In the women's race, Thomas, Alyssa-Simone Robinson, Mulzer, and Janii Jenkins took first with a time of 3:47.29.
 
In the field, the Hoosiers won every event that they were in. Maddy Pollard and Willie Morrison swept the shot put competition, Pollard threw a mark of 16.64m (54' 7.25) while Morrison saw a distance of 19.00m (62' 4")
 
Jenna Jungels won her second long jump of the season after launching a distance of 6.07m (19' 11").
 
Grayson Rolen won his first event as a Hoosier. Rolen was able to clear a height of 2.02m in the high jump.
 
Indiana remains in Bloomington on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 as they host the annual Indiana Relays inside Gladstein Fieldhouse.

I really need to try to go to Champaign or Bloomington for a major College Track meet. I go to a lot of HS meets and watch any meets on TV. I have been to Eastern Illinois University for a couple meets. It's only a 30 minute Drive for me

 Indiana Track & Field got off to a strong start at the Indiana Relays on Friday night. Adam Coulon won his fourth straight pole vault to highlight day one of competition.
 
De'Aira Robertson kicked off the meet for the Hoosiers on the oval as she raced her way to a spot in the finals with a time of 8.80. On the men's side, Shaton Vaughn earned the auto-bid to the final as he won his heat in a time of 8.25 and had the second fastest qualifying time.
 
Megan Grabowski, Alyssa Robinson and Rikkoi Brathwaite followed suit in the 60m prelims. Grabowski recorded a new PR and won her heat with a time of 7.39 to earn a trip to the finals. Robinson crossed in a time of 7.56 to also earn a spot in the finals. Brathwaite clocked a time of 7.70 which was the fastest qualifying time in the field.
 
Indiana went 4-6 in the women's 200m. Alyssa Robinson ran a personal best time of 23.95 to place fourth overall while Grabowski competed in her second event of the evening where she placed sixth with a time of 24.37.
 
Zubin Muncherji took second in the men's 600m after nabbing a time of 1:21.11. Micah Camble followed with a time of 1:22.36 to secure fifth.
 
Bryce Millar nearly outkicked his opponent in the mile but came up short to place second with a time of 4:14.07.
 
In front of the home crowd, the men's distance medley relay squad consisting of Matthew Schadler, Shaton Vaughn, Cooper Williams, and Kyle Mau combined for a time of 9:29.82. In the women's race, Joely Pinkston, Janii Jenkins, Mallory Mulzer, and Jenna Barker went 11:34.02 to win the event.
 
Jake Gebhardt won his first career event in the seeded 3000m with a personal best time of 8:23.99 to end the night for the Hoosiers on the track.
 
In a highly competitive field, Indiana went 8-9 in the women's weight throw. Alexis Hill threw a mark of 20.66m (67' 9.5") to place eighth while teammate Princess Brinkley saw a distance of 19.92m (65' 4.25") and finished in ninth. On the men's side, Nick Lane continued to succeed as heaved a distance of 20.84m (68' 4.5").
 
Adam Coulon won his fourth-straight pole vault of the season after clearing a height of 5.57m (18' 3.25"). Nathan Stone and Brock Mammoser both vaulted a height of 5.37m (17' 7.25") for a new personal best and finished in second and third, respectively.
 
Jenna Jungels and Leah Moran finished first and second in the women's long jump. Jungels won the event with a mark of 6.01m (19' 8.74) while Moran jumped a distance of 5.98m (19' 7.5"). Treyton Harris returned to competition where he placed second with a mark of 7.52m (24' 8.25") to end the night for the Hoosiers.
 
Indiana returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 1, to conclude hosting the Indiana Relays. Hope Purcell and Haley Goines will kick off day two as they begin competition in the women's pentathlon beginning at 8:30a. The first event on the track will be the 60m hurdle finals at 10:45a while the women's triple jump will serve as the first field event also at 10:45a.

Seven Hoosiers Pick Up Wins to End Indiana Relays

 Indiana Track & Field completed hosting the Indiana Relays on Saturday afternoon. Maddy Pollard now leads the nation in the shot put and seven Hoosiers picked up victories in their respective events to end day two.
 
On her final attempt of the afternoon, Pollard stepped into the ring and delivered a national-leading and personal best mark of 17.57m (57' 7.75") to finish as the top collegiate competitor. Her teammate Khayla Dawson would finish right behind her after securing a distance of 17.31m (56' 9.5"). In the men's field, Willie Morrison dished out another solid performance with a mark of 19.06m (62' 6.5") to place third overall.
 
Shaton Vaughn won his first 60m hurdle final of the season after clocking a time of 8.22. De'Aira Robertson was also in action in the finals as she crossed in a time of 8.85 to take the seventh spot.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite bounced back in the 60m finals where he matched his personal best of 6.66 to pick up his second victory in the event of the season. Megan Grabowski clocked a time of 7.48 in the women's final and finished in fifth.
 
Jenna Barker returned to the oval for the mile after anchoring the women's DMR Friday night. The redshirt freshman clocked a time of 4:49.60 to place fourth.
 
In the men's race, Matthew Schadler was the top-collegiate finisher after securing a time of 4:01.05. Dustin Horter took seventh with a time of 4:06.40 for a new personal best.
 
After winning the 60m hurdle finals, Vaughn returned in the 400m where he took fourth with a time of 48.56. Dushawn Tunstall and Zubin Muncherji finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth. Tunstall crossed in a time of 48.94 while Muncherji finished with a time of 48.95.
 
In a field where the top-6 times in the nation before Saturday lay, Cooper Williams won the 800m with a time of 1:48.17. Joely Pinkston and Mallory Mulzer went one-two in the women's 800m. Pinkston just edged Mulzer with a time of 2:10.24 while Mulzer came up in a time of 2:11.22.
 
Kyle Mau made his season debut in the 3000m on Saturday afternoon where he cruised to a victory with a time of 7:51.90. Ben Veatch picked up a time of 8:00.20 and placed second while Arjun Jha raced to a time 8:07.53 to finish in seventh.
 
Janii Jenkins, Mulzer, Elizabeth Stanhope, and Alyssa Robinson combined for a time of 3:47.80 to win their heat of the 4x400-meter relay and finished in fourth overall. On the men's side, Vaughn, Williams, Tunstall, and Jalen Royal placed second overall and clocked a time of 3:12.94.
 
Leading off in the field events, Leah Moran won her third triple jump of the season after hitting a mark of 12.76m (41' 0.5").

Anna Watson showed adversity to set a new personal best in the women's pole vault. The sophomore cleared a height of 4.30m (14' 1.25") to finish at the top collegiate competitor in the field.
 
Jyles Etienne won his second meet of the season after clearing a height of 2.21m () in the high jump.
 
Competing in her first pentathlon of the season, Hope Purcell positioned herself at the top of the leaderboard with 3,469 points. This is the first pentathlon victory for the sophomore. Haley Goines took part in her first pentathlon of her collegiate career. She gathered 3,078 points to pick up seventh.
 
The Hoosiers return to action on Feb. 7 and 8 when they travel to Notre Dame for the annual Meyo Invitational.

 Indiana Track & Field travels north to Notre Dame where they will compete in the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 7 and 8 inside Loftus Sports Center.  A portion of the Meyo Invitational on Saturday will air live on ACC Network Extra beginning at 2 p.m.

 Indiana Track & Field concluded day one of the Meyo Invitational on  Friday night inside of Loftus Sports Center. Alexis Hills new personal best in the women's weight throw highlighted the evening for the Hoosiers.
 
De'Aira Robertson raced to a time of 8.65 in the prelim of the 60m hurdles to grab the eighth fastest qualifying time.  
 
For the second weekend in a row, Rikkoi Brathwaite clocked the fastest qualifying time in the 60m prelim with a time of 6.70. Brathwaite returns to action tomorrow at 10:10 a.m. for the semifinals.
 
In the men's 5000m, the Hoosiers went 1-2 with Jake Gebhardt picking up the victory in a time of 14:27.21. Skylar Stidam finished with silver after clocking a time of 14:30.42. Also, in the field was Ben Miller who placed 17th in a time of 14:49.77.
 
Megan Grabowski ran her single event of the evening as she clocked a time of 24.28 in the 200m. Brathwaite returned to the oval for the men's 200m where he took home gold with a time of 21.23.
 
Elizabeth Stanhope had a break out race in the 600m where she picked up the win in her section on her way to a fourth-place finish overall in a time of 1:30.61. Mallory Mulzer nabbed a time of 1:31.60 to place 10th overall. On the men's side, Cooper Williams nearly out-kicked his opponent but came up short and placed second with a time of 1:17.33. Making his debut as a Hoosier, Reece Proctor clocking a time of 1:21.40. Micah Camble rounded out the trio with a time of 1:21.56.

In the first field events of the weekend, Alexis Hill hit her stride in the weight throw by heaving a distance of 21.25m (69' 8"). With the mark, Hill now claims the second-best mark in program history. Princess Brinkley was also in action where she secured a distance of 18.56m (60' 10"). In the men's competition, Nick Lane picked up sixth with a mark of 20.45m (67' 1.25).

Morrison Sets Program Record and Philippines National Record to Cap Off Meyo Invitational

 Indiana Track & Field wrapped up competition at the Meyo Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Willie Morrison in the shot put and Ben Veatch and Teddy Browning in the Meyo Mile highlighted the last day of the meet.
 
On two different trips to the circle Morrison heaved a distance of 20.21m (66' 3.75") to set a new personal, program, and Philippines national record. He also finished as the top-collegiate in the field.
 
Veatch and Browning left it out on the oval as they finished 1-2 in the men's Meyo Mile. Veatch won gold with a time of 4:04.21 while Browning followed up with a time of 4:04.95.
 
Grace Walther was the lone Hoosier in the women's mile as she raced to a time of 4:54.28 to take ninth place overall.
 
Janii Jenkins, Lauren Thomas, and Shaton Vaughn all secured new personal bests Saturday afternoon in the 400m. Jenkins placed fourth with a time of 55.18 while teammate Thomas clocked a time of 56.30 to finish in 15th. Vaughn took home silver on the men's side after dishing out a time of 47.66.
 
Also, in the men's 400m, Micah Camble grabbed a time of 49.18 and placed 18th overall. Zubin Muncherji finished two spots later in 20th with a time of 49.19. Dushawn Tunstall nabbed a time of 49.55 to finish in 32nd.
 
In the women's 800m championship, Joely Pinkston finished as the top-collegiate after laying down a time of 2:07.40. Mallory Mulzer captured a time of 2:13.30 and finished in 15th. On the men's side, Cooper Williams led the Hoosiers with a fifth-place finish in a time of 1:49.46. Adam Wallace (1:50.14) and Jalen Royal (1:50.49) finished back-to-back in ninth and tenth.
 
To end the meet on track for Indiana, Jenkins, Pinkston, Mulzer, and Elizabeth Stanhope combined for a time of 3:47.70 in the women's 4x400-meter relay. In the men's race, Shaton Vaughn, Tunstall, Wallace, and Royal clocked a time of 3:12.96.
 
Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard went 3-5 in the women's shot put. Dawson tossed a mark of 16.93m (55'6.50") while Pollard heaved a distance of 16.70m (54'9.50").
 
Up next, the Hoosiers will split up to attend the Iowa State Classic and Tyson Invite while a group will remain home to host Hoosier Hills. Action is slated to begin on Feb. 14 and wrap up on Feb. 15.

Morrison Tabbed for Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced their weekly indoor track & field athletes of the week on Wednesday afternoon. For the fifth time this season, Indiana Track & Field saw a Hoosier make the list as Willie Morrison picked up his first field athlete of the week honor of the season.
 
At the Meyo Invitational this weekend, Morrison heaved a sixth-best in the NCAA mark of 20.21m (66' 3.75") to finish as the top-collegiate in the shot put. He now owns the indoor and outdoor program record and his mark is also the new Philippines indoor national record.
 
In December the Leavenworth, Kan. native traveled to the Philippines to compete in the SEA Games. There he set the meet record with a throw of 18.38m (60' 8.75") in the shot put on his way to taking gold. Morrison also competed in the discus where he saw a mark of 51.38m (168' 7") and finished in second.
 
Morrison and the rest of the Indiana squad will be back in action across the country on Feb. 14 and 15. The Hoosiers will compete at the Iowa State Classic, Tyson Invite, Dave Hemery Valentine Invite while also hosting the one-day Hoosier Hills meet on Feb. 14.

Hoosiers Win 14 Events At Hoosier Hills To Kick Off The Weekend

Indiana Track & Field competed at three meets across the country on Friday night. The 14 victories at Hoosier Hills highlighted the night for the Hoosiers.

Megan Grabowski cruised to a victory in the 60m with a time of 7.49 after she took the top-qualifying spot in the prelims by clocking a time of 7.50.
 
Bailey Hertenstein pulled herself back into contention nationally after running a time of 9:23.36 in the 3000m and picking up the victory. On the men's side, Kyle Mau and Ben Veatch finished in second and third, respectively. They were the top-two collegiate finishers in the field. Mau clocked a time of 7:50.22 while Veatch secured a new personal best time of 7:53.75. Ben Miller was the next Hoosier to cross the finish line and he placed seventh overall in a time of 8:20.50. Reese Jordan (8:25.45), Keelan Grant (8:35.68), and Colin Murphy (8:37.28) finished ninth, 10th, and 11th respectively.
 
Grace Walther was the lone Hoosier on the women's side of the mile where she picked up a winning and personal best time of 4:48.85. Jake Gebhardt won his first career mile with a time of 4:12.41 in the men's race.
 
It was another event sweep for Indiana at Elizabeth Stanhope and Jalen Royal won their respective 600m races. Stanhope ran a time of 1:31.07 while Royal clocked a time of 1:19.38. Also, on the men's side were Zubin Muncherji and Micah Camble. Muncherji saw a time of 1:21.12 and finished in second while teammate Camble finished right behind him in a time of 1:23.01.
 
Kelly Mindak won her first event of the season, eanring a victory in the 800m fast section with a time of 2:12.38. On the men's side, Aaron Bennett notched a time of 1:52.30 for the win.
 
Lauren Thomas and Dushawn Tunstall swept the 400m fast section on Friday night. Thomas secured a time of 56.29 while Tunstall ran a solid 48.97.
 
Isaiah Ware led the Hoosiers in the men's 400m with a time of 49.48 to take home silver. Rikkoi Brathwaite ran his first career 400m where he placed sixth and nabbed a time of 50.45.
 
De'Aira Robertson, Nile Brown, and Haley Goines all made the final of the women's 60m hurdles. Robertson clocked a time of 8.81 to place fourth while Brown (8.92) and Goines (8.99) finished in sixth and seventh, respectively. In the men's field, Shaton Vaughn raced to a final time of 8.25 and finished in second. Christian Goines competed in his first race of the season and clocked a time of 8.55 to place seventh.
 
The women's distance medley relay squad consisting of Grace Walther, Nile Brown, Claire Hamilton and Lexa Barrott cruised to victory with a time of 12:10.48.
 
Rounding out the night on the track was the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays. Tunstall, Muncherji, Camble and Royal combined for a time of 3:17.67 for the win. Thomas, Stanhope, Mindak, and Beth Barnes went 3:56.73 to place second on the women's side.
 
In the field, Indiana had another solid performance in the throws events. Willie Morrison continued to hit his stride and won the men's shot put with a distance of 20.21m (65' 11"). Alexis Hill and Princess Brinkley went 1-2 in the women's weight throw. Hill heaved a throw of 21.20m (69' 6.75") while Brinkley secured a mark of 20.21m (66' 3.75"). Nick Lane kept the ball rolling by hitting a distance of 20.43m (67' .5").
 
Grayson Rolen and Matt McCown went 2-3 in the men's high jump. Rolen cleared a height o 2.00m (6' 6.75") while McCown saw a height of 1.95m (6' 4.75").
 
Goines returned for her second event of the evening in women's long jump. She secured a mark of 5.35m (17' 6.75") to place second. Shaunyae Sowell also competed where she nabbed a distance of 5.23m (17' 2") to notch sixth. Nate Davis Competed in his first event of the season and finished sixth in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.70m (21' 11.75"). Kynton Grays placed eighth after seeing a mark of 6.45m (21' 2").
 
Iowa State Classic
 

Bryce Millar was the only Hoosier in action in Ames, Iowa on Friday night. The senior clocked a time of 14:12.49 to finish in eighth overall.
 
Indiana will return to action tomorrow at 1:50 p.m. ET when Jenna Barker competes in section four of the women's mile.
 
Tyson Invite
 
Adam Coulon remained poised in the men's pole vault invitational and cleared a new personal best height of 5.65m (18' 6.5") to finish in second. Nathan Stone competed in the men's pole vault where he also placed second and hit a mark of 5.30m (17' 4.5").
 
Treyton Harris and Jenna Jungels both finished in the fifth in the long jump. Harris launched to a distance of 7.34m (24' 1") while Jungels secured a mark of 6.02m (19' 9"). Leah Moran also competed in the women's field where she saw a distance of 5.73m (18' 9.75").
 
In the qualifying race of the 60m hurdles, Hope Purcell clocked a time of 8.63 to advance to the prelims. In the prelims she fell short of making the final with a time of 8.66.
 
The Hoosiers will resume the Tyson Invite tomorrow 12:45 p.m. Purcell kicks it off in the women's high jump competition.

Schadler Runs Sub-4 and Moran Builds On Program Record To End Weekend For IUTF

 Indiana Track & Field concluded their stints at the Dave Heremy Valentine Invite, Iowa State, and Tyson Invite on Saturday afternoon. Redshirt Freshman Matthew Schadler ran a sub-4 mile in Boston while Leah Moran built on her program record in the triple jump at Arkansas to lead the Hoosiers on the final day of competition.

In a highly competitive field, Schadler finished in third and ran a new lifetime best in the mile with a time of 3:58.45. Arjun Jha also competed in the mile where he saw a time of 4:03.04 to place 23rd. 
 
Tyson Invite
 
Moran highlighted the action in Fayetteville, Ark. as she took flight to a mark of 13.22m (43' 4.5") in the women's triple jump invitational. Her mark is a lifetime best and adds to her school recorded performance from the Hoosier Open.
 
Hope Purcell cleared a height of 1.72m (5' 7.75") in the high jump and placed third in a very talented field.
 
In the men's high jump invitational Jyles Etienne snagged sixth and cleared a height of 2.11m (6' 11").
 
Iowa State Classic
 
Two personal bests fell in the mile out in Ames, Iowa on Saturday afternoon. Jenna Barker shed five seconds off her PR and clocked a time of 4:43.64 to place sixth overall. On the men's side, Dustin Horter raced to a time of 4:04.81 to set a new lifetime best.
 
Joely Pinkston led the Hoosiers in the 800m with a time of 2:08.50 and nabbed 11th overall. Mallory Mulzer ran a season best time of 2:09.92 to cross the finish line second in her heat.
 
Adam Wallace went 1:51.13 in the men's 800m race to capture 13th overall.
