GAINESVILLE, Fla.— Indiana Track & Field kicked off day one of the Pepsi Florida Relays on Thursday afternoon by seeing competition in three events.

Derek Grimmer set a new PR in the 200m with a time of 21.54. The senior picked up second in his section and 53rd overall.  On the women's side of the 200m open, Megan Grabowski raced to a 39th place finish with a time of 24.44.
 
The Hoosiers had one lone runner in the men's open 400m. Adam Wallace clocked a time of 50.13.
 
Back in her home state, Jeyland Valentin competed in the women's 400m hurdles on Thursday afternoon. The Oakland Park, Fla. native crossed the finish line in a time of 1:02.65 to place 11th. In the men's field, Shaton Vaughn competed in his first collegiate 400m hurdles as he placed 17th overall with a time of 54.89.
 
In the day one finale, Jackson Jett ran his first collegiate 5000m. In a competitive field, the freshman connected with the finish line in a time of 14:37.07.
 
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Friday, Mar. 29 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Princess Brinkley will initiate competition for Indiana as she competes in the weight throw. The first event on the track will be when Rikkoi Brathwaite races in the 100m at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Pepsi Florida Relays

GAINSVILLE, Fla.— Under the Florida sunshine, Indiana Track & Field returned to James G. Pressly Stadium, Percy Beard Track to compete in day two of Pepsi Florida Relays. Kelsey Harris and Kenneth Hagen highlighted the day for the Hoosiers as Harris smashed her previous personal record in the 1500m and Hagen set a new PR in the 800m.
 
Kelsey Harris won the 1500m with a PR time of 3:18.23 while her twin sister, Haley Harris, was the second Hoosier to cross in a time of 4:21.42 to take seventh place. Rounding out the trio was Josey Korte who clocked a time of 4:34.87 and finished 19th overall.
 
In the men's 1500m Joe Murphy led all Indiana runners with a third place finish in time of 3:44.47. Cooper Williams returned for his sophomore season in the event. The junior ran a time of 3:45.83 to take fourth. Aaron Bennett ran his first collegiate 1500m as he snagged a time of 3:51.12 to take 16th overall.
 
Kenneth Hagen set a PR as clocking a time of 1:50.10. Freshman Jalen Royal also saw competition as he notched a time of 1:53.76.On the women's side, Mallory Mulzer led the Hoosiers in the 800m as she notched a time of 2:10.46. Kelly Mindak crossed next in a time of 2:10.93 while Joely Pinkston competed the Indiana trio with a time of 2:11.49.
 
Lexa Barrott and Bailey Hertenstein competed in the steeplechase for Indiana on Friday night as they finished back-to-back. Competing in his first steeplechase, Hertenstein raced to seventh place finish in a time of 10:35.79. Barrott returned to the event with an eighth place finish and clocked a time of 10:41.15.
 
Natalie Price placed 15th overall in the women's 400m in a time of 53.72. Also competing, Riley Egbula clocked a time of 55.91.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite was the lone Hoosier to compete in the 100m dash. The redshirt freshman placed third in his section with a time of 10.66.
 
Both the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay team competed in the prelims. On the women's side, the squad consisting of Egbula, Pinkston, Mulzer, and Megan Grabowski, finished in a tie of 3:48.79. The men's team crossed in a time of 3:13.55.
 
In the field, Leah Moran and Jenna Jungles led the Hoosiers as they placed sixth and ninth in the long jump. Moran jumped a distance of 6.00m (19' 8.25") and Jungles saw a distance of 5.88m (19' 3.5").
 
In the women's pole vault, Anna Watson cleared a height of 3.65m (11' 11.75").
 
Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard both competed in discus. Pollard competed in the invite in which she saw a distance of 50.80m (166-08). In the collegiate, Dawson threw a distance of 45.23m (148-05).
 
Princess Brinkley contended in the women's hammer as she threw a distance of 48.85m (160-03).
 
Indiana continues their stint at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday, Mar. 30. The sprint medley relay will be the first event for the Hoosiers on track. The event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. In the field, Adam Coulon and Brock Mammoser will be the first to compete as they will see action in the men's pole vault beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
 

Stanford Invite -

Stanford, Calif.— It was a night of records as Indiana Track & Field competed at day one of the Stanford Invite late Friday night. Maggie Allen led the Hoosiers as she broke a 30-year-old school record in the 10000m. On a national scale, Daniel Michalski and Kyle Mau now lead the NCAA in their respective events.
 
Michalski kicked off the meet for the Hoosiers as he won the men's steeplechase in a time of 8:35.82. His time leads the NCAA and moves him up to third on the school all-time list.
 
Surging ahead on the last lap, Mau kicked off his outdoor season by winning the 5000m in a personal record time of 13:44.43. The redshirt junior is now the national leader and moves into 8th all-time in program history. Ben Veatch also competed in the event and placed third with a time of 13:45.92. On the women's side, Katherine Receveur raced to a time of 15:54.78.
 
Allen continues to make her mark on the program, as she set a new school record in the 10000m with a time of 32:54.80. The record was previously set by Michelle Dekkers in 1989 at IUPUI.
 
Indiana saw three compete unattached. Sarah Schmitt took a time of 16:32.51 in the second section of the women's 5000m. Arjun Jha and Dustin Horter both ran on the men's side of the 5000m as Jha crossed in the a time of 13:56.38 with Horter finished with a time of 14:33.42.

GAINSVILLE, Fla.— On the final day of the 2019 Pepsi Florida Relays Indiana Track & Field saw their men's sprint medley relay (SMR) squad break the program record. Rikkoi Brathwaite, Derek Grimmer, DeShaun Tunstall and Cooper Williams crossed the finish line first in a record setting time of 3:19.92.
 
On the track, it was relay day on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the men's SMR the women's squad consisting of Jaela ***, Megan Grabowski, Natalie Price and Joely Pinkston combined for a sixth place finish in a time of 3:55.83.
 
Indiana took two second place honors in the 4x800 relay. First, Bailey Hertenstein, Kelsey Harris, Mallory Mulzer, and Haley Harris raced a solid race as they ran the second fastest time in school history (8:32.89). Bennett, Jalen Royal, Adam Wallace, and Kenneth Hagen combined t run the eighth fastest men's race in school history (7:21.68).
 
Nationally, both the men and women hold the second fastest time in the NCAA so far this season.  
 
Grabowski, Price, ***, and Egbula returned to the track one last time on Saturday to combine for 4x200. They raced to a time of 1.38.66.  
 
The Hoosiers swept the men's and women's distance medley relay (DMR). In the women's race, Claire Hamilton, Jeyland Valentin, Pinkston, and Hannah Stoffel finished 12.32 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Their time of 11:39.17 put them 15th on the IU all-time list. On the men's side, Teddy Browning, Williams, Tony Newbern, and Joe Murphy stringed together another solid Hoosier performance as they finished in a time of 9:54.46.
 
In the men's 4x100 relay, Grimmer, Brathwaite, Tunstall, and Nate Davis went to work and took fourth in their section with a time of 40.98. Grabowski, Riley Egbula, Price, and Jaela *** ran a time of 46.84.
 
Eric Bethea led the Hoosiers in the field as he recorded a new outdoor PR with distance of 16.19m (53' 1.5") in the triple. He was the highest finishing collegiate jumper and recorded the seventh best distance in IU history. On the women's side, Leah Moran secured a distance of 12.51m (41' .5").
 
Adam Coulon recorded another first place mark in pole vault as he tied his PR height of 5.52m (18' 1.25"). His height was an outdoor personal record as he stays fourth all-time.
 
Hope Purcell competed in her first outdoor collegiate high jump where she was able to clear a distance of 1.70m (5' 7") to take fourth overall.
 
Two Hoosiers competed in the shot put. Maddy Pollard led the duo by notching a distance of 16.43m (53' 11") to place sixth. Khayla Dawson threw a distance of 16.01m (52' 6.5") and finished ninth.

Indiana Track & Field will see a high level of competition this weekend as they travel to the annual Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. The meet will begin on Thursday, Apr. 11 and wrap up on the Saturday Apr. 13. Hope Purcell kicks off a full slate of events for the Hoosiers as she competes in the women's heptathlon beginning Thursday at 12 p.m.

In the Rankings
On Monday, USTFCCCA released their weekly ratings index which saw the Indiana men ranked No. 16 among the top-25. In the Great Lakes region, the women's team is ranked No. 2 while the men rank No. 3.
 
Among the Nation's Best 
The top-48 in each event will compete throughout Memorial Day Weekend at the NCAA East Regional Prelims. 26 Hoosiers sit in the NCAA East Region through three weeks of regular season competition. A duo of Hoosiers leads the region in their respective events. Daniel Michalski currently leads the east region as well as the country in the steeplechase after clocking a time of 8:35.82. Eric Bethea hold the top spot in the region in the triple jump after his performance of 16.19m (53' 1.5") at the Florida Relays.

 Hope Purcell and Nick Lane were in action on Thursday afternoon as they competed on day one of the Tennessee Relays for Indiana Track & Field.
 
Purcell competed in the first four events of the women's heptathlon and currently sits in the eighth place with 3,100 points. In the 100m hurdles, the freshman clocked a time of 14.79 and earned 870 points. Next, she came out strong in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.74m (5' 8.5"). During the shot put portion, she threw a distance of 10.06m (33' .25") to earn 533 points towards her total. In the final event of the day, Purcell crossed the finish line in a time of 26.04 for a new personal record. She will wrap up the heptathlon with the final three events tomorrow, Apr. 12 beginning at 3 p.m.
 
Lane set a new personal record in the men's hammer after throwing a distance of 58.19m (190' 11"). Overall, the freshman placed 12th.

Day 2 - Tennessee Relays

Three Hoosiers captured victories as Indiana Track & Field continued their stint at the Tennessee Relays. On day two, Cooper Williams, Joe Murphy, and Haley Harris all won their respective events on Friday afternoon.
 
Cooper Williams kicked off the strand of first place finishes for the Hoosiers as he won the 800m in a time of 1:48.23. Six other Indiana student-athletes competed in the 800m. Jalen Royal placed fifth with a time of 1:50.68 while Adam Wallace (1:51.66) was the third Hoosier to place in the top-10. Teddy Browning (1:52.72) and Kyle Mau (1:52.73) finished back-to-back in 18th and 19th.  Tony Newbern clocked a new personal record in the event with a time of 1:53.86.
 
Joe Murphy and Haley Harris swept the steeplechase as they both led their entire race. Murphy finished in a time of 9:06.08, almost 10 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Harris and Alexa Barrott finished 1-2 as Harris clocked a time of 10:32.21 and Barrott crossed in a time of 10:46.81.  
 
On the women's side of the 800m, Kelsey Harris led the way for the Hoosiers as she picked up a 2:06.46 to place third overall. Mallory Mulzer had a solid performance as she also placed in the top-10 with a time of 2:08.75. Kelly Mindak (2:10.43) and Claire Hamilton (2:17.35) rounded out the field for Indiana with 16th and 21st place finishes.
 
Rikkoi Brathwaite recorded a new PR in the 100m with a time of 10.26. The redshirt freshman placed second in his heat and fourth overall. On the women's side, Megan Grabowski also saw a new PR as she crossed the finish line in a time of 11.71.
 
The duo would return in the 200m and set PR's for the second time of the afternoon. Brathwaite finished in a time of 21.12 while Grabowski left it all on the track to grab a time of 24.03 to place fourth overall.
 
Jeyland was the lone Hoosier to compete in the women's 400m hurdles as she had a solid race time of 1:01.86 to place ninth.
 
Derek Grimmer competed in the 400m where he picked up a time of 48.89 to place 18th. In the women's field, Riley Egbula saw a time of 58.86.
 
In competitive fields, Kenneth Hagen and Katherine Receveur were runners up in the 1500m. Hagen was able to close the gap on the runner in front, but was a couple milliseconds short of the title as he clocked a new PR of 3:43.29. Receveur was runner up for the second year as she clocked a time of 4:22.26.
 
Three other Hoosiers were in action in the 1500m on Saturday afternoon. Ben Veatch placed third with a time 3:44.17 while Daniel Michalski placed fifth (3:44.89). Bryce Millar finished in a time of 3:55.02 to round out the field.
 
Maggie Allen, Joely Pinkston, and Grace Walther also competed on the women's side of 1500m. Allen (4:26.82) and Pinkston (4:30.54) clocked PR's in the event as they finished in sixth and 13th.  Walther rounded the event with a time of 4:39.79.
 
Jackson Jett and Hunter Moore competed in the final track event of the night. The duo competed in the 5000m where Jackson Jett saw a top-10 finish with a time of 15:09.03. Moore completed the race in a time of 15:52.24.
 
Turning to the field, Maddy Pollard and Khayla Dawson highlighted a full slate of competition for the cream & crimson. Pollard was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put as she nabbed a distance of 16.87m (55' 4.25"). The distance puts her No. 8 nationally, and No. 6 in the NCAA East Region. Dawson took second out of collegiate competitors as she saw a distance of 16.30m (53' 5.75"). Her mark puts her No. 10 in the NCAA East Region.
 
On the men's side, David Schall placed 10th with a mark of 17.45m (57' 3").
 
Hope Purcell wrapped up her first collegiate heptathlon on Saturday afternoon with the long jump, javelin, and 800m. In the long jump, she placed fourth with a PR mark of 5.95m (19' 6"). For her first time throwing javelin, the freshman saw a distance of 21.75m (71' 4"). In the last event, she clocked a time of 2:29.02 to placed 10th. Overall, the x native finished in eighth with 4,957 points.

Taylor Pennington competed in her first outdoor meet of the season in the high jump where she cleared a height of 1.63m (5' 4.25") on the third attempt.

Megan Grabowski, Natalie Price, Jaela ***, and Riley Egbula competed together in the 4x200 relay where they had a solid finish of second place with a time of 1:38.14. The same foursome would return to the track to compete in the 4x100 where they notched a time of 46.44.
 
In the final relays of the meet, the Hoosier men took fourth while the women captured seventh. Derek Grimmer, Williams, Royal, and Nate Davis picked up a time of 3:12.81. On the women's side, Grabowski, Price, Mulzer, and K. Harris returned to the track one list time to combine for a time of 3:44.96.
 
Maddy Pollard continued to have a strong weekend in the field as she led the Hoosiers in the women's discus. The freshman recorded a new PR of 52.63m (172' 8") as placed second. Pollard's distance now ranks No. 13 in the NCAA East Region. Alexis Hillalso recorded a PR in the event with a distance of 45.71m (149' 11"). Khayla Dawson rounded out the trio as she recorded a mark. of 44.27m (145' 3").
 
David Schall competed in the men's discus, throwing a mark of 49.25m (161' 7") to place sixth.
 
Leah Moran had a solid day in the triple jump pit as she hit a mark of 12.90m (42' 0") to place fourth overall. This mark put her at No. 14 in the NCAA Easy Region.
 
In the high jump, Jyles Etienne cleared a height of 2.05m (6' 8.75") to place fourth.

 Indiana Track & Field is set to split up this weekend has they have groups competing at the War Eagle Invite, Cardinal Classic, and Kentucky Open. A group of throwers will travel to the War Eagles Invite on Apr. 19 & 20, while the distance runners will compete at the two-day Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford. Lastly, a troop of Hoosiers will remain close to home and compete at the one-day Kentucky Open.

AUBURN, Ala.— Day one at War Eagle Invite is in the book for Indiana Track Field's throwers. Nycia Ford led the Hoosiers as she placed fourth in the women's hammer with a distance of 60.55m (198' 8").  Also, on the women's side, Princess Brinkley saw a distance of 55.93m (183' 06") to place within the top-10. Alexis Hill was the final Hoosier to compete as she secured a distance of 49.26m (161' 7").  Nick Lane was the first Hoosier to see the field as he placed fifth overall. The freshman notched a distance of 56.63m (185' 9").  
 
The squad will return to action tomorrow when David Schall competes in the men's discus throw. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m. EST. Live results of the meet can be found here.

 

STANFORD, Calif.— Indiana Track & Field competed in the 800m and 5K at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford on Friday night.  In the men's 800m invite it was a fight to the finish as Adam Wallace picked up with the win with a PR time 1:49.78. Jalen Royal crossed in a time of 1:51.09 to take sixth while Aaron Bennett placed seventh with a time of 1:51.82.
 
On the women's side, Joely Pinkston was the first Hoosier to cross the finish line in a time of 2:07.91. Teammate, Mallory Mulzerclocked a time of 2:09.55.
 
Bryce Millar capped off the night for Indiana in the 5K where he placed 11th and clocked a time of 14:10.51.
 
The Hoosiers will return tomorrow to compete in a slate of 1500m. Action will begin at 9:36 p.m. EST.

Indiana Track & Field competed at the Kentucky Open hosted for the University of Kentucky and the War Eagle Invite hosted by Auburn University on Saturday afternoon.
 
War Eagle Invite
 
Three personal records were broken in the women's discus to highlight the final day of the War Eagle Invite. Maddy Pollard picked up her first collegiate win in the discus with a PR distance of 53.39m (175' 2"). Khayla Dawson placed fifth after hitting a PR mark of 49.51. Winning her flight, Alexis Hill secured her PR with a distance of 47.43m
 
Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard also competed in the women's shot put where they placed second and third, respectively. Dawson secured a distance of 16.66m (54' 8") to place second while Pollard shot a distance of 16.39m (52' 8.25"). The pair were the top two finishers among the collegiate competitors in the field.
 
David Schall competed on the men's side of the discus where picked up third place after throwing a distance of 50.71m (166' 4").
 
Kentucky Open
 
Natalie Price led the Hoosiers as she competed in the women's 400m and clocked a time of 54.93 to take home silver honors. On the men's side, Derek Grimmer raced to a fifth-place finish in time of 48.57.
 
Megan Grabowski was back in action in the 100m as she pushed a fourth-place finish and took a time of 12.01. In her second race, the junior picked up second in the women's 200m with a wind aided time of 24.44.
 
On the men's side of the 200m, Rikkoi Brathwaite also placed second as he clocked a time of 21.70.
 
Freshman, Shaton Vaughn picked up bronze when he nabbed a time of 54.97 in the 400m hurdles.
 
Three Hoosiers competed in the women's 1500m on Saturday afternoon. Hannah Stoffel led Indiana as she placed second in a time of 4:30.25. The next Hoosier to cross the finish line was Lexa Barrott who finished in a time of 4:38.14 to take third. Rounding out the trio and placing fourth was Grace Walther as she clocked a time of 4:39.59.
 
A group of six competed unattached in the men's 1500m. Dustin Horter placed second overall with a time of 3:51.03. Matt Schadler clocked a time of 3:52.01 to finish behind Horter in third. Arjun Jha completed the back-to-back trio by placing fourth with a time of 3:52.65. Ben Miller (4:02.90) raced to a 14th place finish while Colin Murphy (4:05.64) finished five places behind him in 19th. Rounding out the field was Skylar Stidam who grabbed 23rd in a time of 4:07.26.

Stanford University Cardinal Classic

STANFORD, Calif.— Late at night, Indiana Track & Field wrapped up competition at the Cardinal Classic hosted for Stanford University.
 
Indiana swept the top three spots in the men's 1500m. Joe Murphy led the slate of Hoosiers with a winning time of 3:44.68. Following him were Copper Williams and Teddy Browning who picked up second and third, respectively. Rounding out the field in section two was Daniel Michalski as he nabbed a time of 3:46.99 to place 5th. In a difference section, Aaron Bennett clocked a time of 4:00.34 to finish 11th in his first collegiate 1500m.
 
Haley Harris and Claire Hamilton competed in the women's 1500m. Harris was able to out kick the field in final stretch to pick up the victory in her section with a time of 4:22.21. In section three, Hamilton grabbed a time of 4:46.60 to place seventh.
 
A trio of Hoosiers competed in the men's 1500m invite. Running a fast-paced race, Kenneth Hagen, Kyle Mau, and Ben Veatchfinished back-to-back-back in fourth, fifth, and sixth. Hagen ran a time of 3:45.38 to lead Indiana as teammate Mau snagged a time of 3:45.49. Veatch finished the race in a time of 3:46.05 in the final race of the night.
 
On the women's side, Katherine Receveur and Kelsey Harris also finished back-to-back at the picked up seventh and eighth place. Receveur clocked a time of 4:24.31 while Harris crossed in a time of 3:25.47.
 
Up next, the Hoosiers will participate in the 125th running of Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. Action is slated to begin on Thursday, Apr. 25 and wrap up on Saturday Apr. 28.

125th Running of the Penn Relays

Track & Field athletes from all around the country and world will gather in Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend for the historical 125th running of Penn Relays. Indiana Track & Field begins its stint at the oldest and largest track & field event on Thursday, Apr. 25 and conclude on Saturday, Apr. 27 at Franklin Field on the campus of UPenn.
 
 
Indiana Track & Field's Schedule of Events
 
The Hoosiers will compete in 18 events—11 track events and seven field events.
 
Thursday's Track Events—4x100 relay (women), DMR Championship of America (women's), Steeplechase (men's & women's), 3000m (women's), and 5000m (men's).
 
Thursday's Field Events—Shot put (women's), long jump (women's), and hammer throw (women's).
 
Friday's Track Events— 4x1500 relay (women's), 4x200 relay (men's and women's), 100m (men's & women's), SMR Championship of America (men's), SMR (women's), DMR Championship of America (men's).
 
Friday's Field Events—Triple jump (women's), high jump (men's), discus (women's), long jump (men's).
 
Saturday's Track Events—4x800 relay Championship of America (men's & women's), 4xMile relay Championship of America (men's).
 
Saturday's Field Events— Pole vault (men's) and triple jump (men's).
 
Last Time Out: 3 Meets, 1 Weekend
Three PRs fell last Saturday in the women's discus at the War Eagle Invite to highlight a weekend full of success for Indiana. Maddy Pollard, Khayla Dawson, and Alexis Hill set PR's as Pollard went to win her first collegiate event with a throw of 53.39m (172' 2"). Khayla Dawson picked up fifth after a distance of 49.50m (162' 5") while Hill rounded out the trio with her own PR distance of 47.43m (155' 7").  Out on the west coast, Adam Wallace led the Hoosiers as he recorded a PR time of 1:49.78 to win the men's 800m Invite. Haley Harris was able to outkick her opponents in the last 100 meters of the 1500m to win the event.  The senior notched a time of 4:22.21.  To cap off the weekend, A group of Hoosiers competed at the Kentucky Open. Running unattached, Jenna Barker was the lone Hoosier to win an event as she claimed top honors in the 800m Megan Grabowski(100m), Natalie Price (400m) and Rikkoi Brathwaite (100m) all placed second in their respective events.
 
History at Penn Relays
As one of the most historical meets in the country, Penn Relays proved to be a place where Maggie Allen shined. Allen recorded a lifetime best in the 3000m last season in Philadelphia, Pa. The senior notched a time of 9:16.20 to win the event. On the women's side, there were two runner up relay teams in the 4x1500 and 4x800, two of the Championship of America races. In the men's field, the 4x800 meter relays squad broke a school record en route of a second place finish.  Willie Morrison (Shot Put), Khayla Dawson (Shot Put), and Leah Moran (Long & Triple Jump) also garnered second in their respective events.
 
Among the Nation's Best
29 Hoosiers checked in on the NCAA Top-48 East Region performance list this week. The top-48 each individual event and top-24 relays will participate in the NCAA East Regional Prelims where they will compete for a spot in the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas. Daniel Michalski is the lone Hoosier who holds a top spot as his week one run of 8:35.82 in the steeple still holds up.
 
In the Great Lakes Region
USTFCCCA announced their weekly regional ratings index on Monday Apr. 22. The men moved up a spot in the Great Lakes Region coming in at No. 3 this week. On the women's side, they remained at No. 2 for the fifth straight week.
