When some players leave a program it means there is a higher level of talent on the team and they want more playing time elsewhere, often at a smaller school (Delaware State, for instance). The Harris situation is a bummer but we are deep (albeit untested) at WR position.

Speaking of the B1G, what do you guys think of the recent talk of Kansas and Oklahoma being possibilities for the B1G? Oklahoma seems unhappy with the Big XII and if the B1G doesn't grab Oklahoma and Kansas, the SEC might.

Me personally, I love the idea. As it pertains to IUFB, our schedule wouldn't change any. Purdue would likely move to the East division. The two divisions would become much more balanced. Reviving the Oklahoma/Nebraska rivalry on Thanksgiving weekend has huge potential. For the conference, bringing in Oklahoma football and Kansas basketball could mean big money when it's time to renegotiate the TV deal.

IIRC, that talk was from a few years ago when the B1G was wooing Nebraska. Iowa St was trying to get in on that deal too.

Kansas would work from a basketball and educational standpoint(member of AAU). Oklahoma would work athletically, but they're not in the AAU. I know Nebraska isn't in the AAU anymore, but they were when the B1G granted their inclusion.

I am not so sure the AAU means much.  The B1G knew that Nebraska was getting kicked out when they were given membership.

Personally I think those two schools make more sense than Rutgers or Maryland.  Penn State for that matter, simply because we would all be in the Midwest.

I know that means nothing as to why a school is asked to join, but still I like the ideal of conferences being geographically located.  Though the conference has made it very clear that it is all about eyeballs for the television, and getting into new markets.

Agreeing with jms above, if academics were truly a priority to the B1G, it would have admitted Mizzou instead of Nebraska. Mizzou made more sense geographically as well, and had a natural rivalry with Illinois. Instead the B1G went with Nebraska and its average football attendance of 90K+.

With that said, two factors with going on with Oklahoma and Kansas. Kind of like PSU with UMD and Rutgers, Nebraska is going to want a couple of closer rivals (all they have now is Iowa). Oklahoma-Nebraska Thanksgiving weekend is big money for the conference. As are Kansas vs. IU, MSU, OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, and UMD in basketball.

Second, there's an opportunity cost of not admitting Oklahoma and Kansas if the SEC grabs them. There's going to be a race to 16 between the SEC & B1G and if the B1G does not go after Kansas and Oklahoma, the SEC will happily take the TV money that comes with these two schools.
