(2017) PF Jack Nunge to Iowa

Recommended Posts

In its opening sectional game, Castle defeated Ev. Central 75 - 67.  "With 6-foot-10 forward Jack Nunge back in uniform after suffering an ankle injury last week in practice, the Knights had multiple options inside. Nunge finished with 15 points, four of which came from the free throw line in the fourth quarter when Central (12-11) was attempting a comeback. He also grabbed seven rebounds."

For the third time this season, Castle lost to Ev. Reitz 80 - 62.   From the Evansville Courier-Press:  "Junior Jack Nunge, clearly hobbled by an ankle injury, added seven points, eight rebounds and five blocks. The Knights will return their entire team next season.

"Castle is very, very good," Adams said. "Other than the loss to Jeffersonville, all of their losses were to ranked teams. We were very fortunate to get them three times."

Just a heads up. Look for this guy to go to IU if he is offered. Been coming to IU games since the zeller days

Pretty sure he turned down an invitation to Hoosier Hysteria last year. Think he's headed to Iowa

He didn't turn it down. Usually 10-15 kids in his AAU program make the trip to Hoosier Hysteria. Could be wrong but I think he was at the John Lucas Midwest camp during HH. He was originally a UNC fan.

Never seen him play and all I know about him is the stats he put up last season and the fact he plays on the PocketCity AAU team.  This was tweeted a day or 2 ago and I found it interesting that the list of 2016 commitment schools was overall pretty weak and so I have to wonder if Nunge is really an IU caliber player based on where the '16 kids are going to play college ball.

Not sure if it's true because I saw it in a tweet from a rival H.S. Asst. coach, but the tweet said that this kid scored a perfect score on his ACT and then Stanford was in to look at him the next day.

He did indeed score a perfect 36 on the math portion of the ACT.     http://www.courierpress.com/sports/high-school/engelhardt-nunge-seeks-another-exponential-leap-31947ac4-135e-5fc6-e053-0100007f29b8-377889491.html

Couple of other facts from the article:

  • Averaged 19.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks in leading Castle to a 19-6 record this past season.
  • Considered a 3-star recruit.
  • Offers received to date:  Vandy, Iowa, Clemson, Toledo, Evansville, Vermont and Ball State.  Stanford has been in contact as a former ass't. at Vandy now has the same position at Stanford.

Doesn't appear to be any real IU interest but Nunge did pick up his second B1G offer, this one from Nebraska.  Supposedly Stanford still recruiting him but hasn't offered.

Guess not. It will be interesting how this kid turns out at the next level.

Rivals is showing an OV to Iowa this weekend and Creighton the following weekend. Looks like Vandy and Stanford in the mix to.
