IU and the Maui Classic 2015

Recommended Posts

With a field of IU, KU, SJ, UCLA, UNLV,Vanderbilt, WF and Chaminade, IU should have a good chance of winning this event if all of the IU players come back along with Bryant. Not sure which McDAA's KU is bringing in this Fall or how good UCLA will be, or the how strong the other teams will be, but hopefully IU can come out on top in Maui this year. Your thoughts?

Check out the black sand beach on The road to Hana while you're there.

I was told when I visited Maui and Honolulu that a lot of the sand is imported from Australia how true is that?

Definitely think we can compete, if not win. Our biggest edge in NonCon play (Maui included) is our outstanding continuity (minimal players to integrate, only one in a key role). All the teams coming in will have had a lot more turnover than us (or significantly less talent). We SHOULD win this.

Not shore (haha) about that. I've been told by some old timers that Waikiki used to be a swamp. I think they pull some sand from the ocean floor. There are way better beaches than Waikiki. Surfing is too crowded, sand isn't great, too many vacationers, coral walls cut you too often, etc.

definitely I took a lesson in Maui and after I got the hang of it I rented a board and went out from the condo we stayed in and surfed a bit (only small waves) and it was the most relaxing thing I did the whole trip

Surfing is amazing when you don't have locals trying to run you off or younger kids who can't control their boards. You stayed in Lahaina?

I recently visited Maui, I really enjoyed my time. Stayed some place on Kaanapali, don't remember which hotel. I remember a huge rock that I was freaked out by but still had the urge to jump off along with many others. Anyway, tough life being a star college basketball player, going to school for free and maybe go to Maui or the Bahamas in your short time at college.

I seem to remember a lot of upsets at that tournament. Players distracted by too much beach life. Chaminade has fooled a lot of teams.

Chaminade is 7-78 in the tournament history?  They have beat Texas and Virginia in the early 80s though.
