Anybody have any news on if we plan to sign back with Adidas, or if we'll finally hop onto the Nike train (hopefully)

Rick Greenspan was the one who originally signed the Adidas deal.

Fred Glass is going to be able to show if he's competent at his job in 2016 by signing with someone other than Adidas.

I know that Michigan is not going to resign with Adidas, Notre Dame left Adidas.

I thought we received more money from Adidas than we would from Nike.  I know that doesn't help with recruiting but does agg more $$$ to the athletic department.

Those schools leaving ADIDAS actually hurts our chances of leaving more than anything.  It makes Indiana that much more important to ADIDAS.  They will throw big money at IU to stay affiliated, they can't afford to keep losing schools.

Nike pays less, yes. But it helps football tremendously and they have imo better products, more brand loyal recruits, better pro athletes. Adidas big star was D. Rose... Under amour is a better choice at this point.

And hopefully Adidas doesn't want to pay us as much because Crean has taken us out of the elite conversation, thus allowing us to go with NIKE/UA

Yes, I know that's a bit dramatic, but the point made in the article shows why Adidas isn't the company we should be running with.

Honestly, if you go into any gym here in Indiana, YMCA, or anywhere that has a pickup game, look at what shoes the best players are wearing... Not a lot of Adidas. Nike/Jordan is what the kids are wearing.

I think the shoe companies impacts on recruiting are way overblown.  Kansas, UCLA, and Louisville are all Adidas schools and are all able to recruit at a very high level.

 

We can list out every minute detail of why a recruit chooses school X or school Y, but at the end of the day I'd say about 98% of all decisions are made based on one of two factors: 

 

1. Coaching Staff

2. Location

 

Everything else is pretty negligible in my mind.
